Perfect. I was going to buy a CX-90 costing $10,000 more and would have had the 3rd row permanently put away. The 3rd row must take up space and add to weight. I need a large 5 seater SUV which will store my friends and my golf clubs and buggies. Also need a comfortable interstate cruiser. Not sure why it needs to be it's own model though. Makes more sense to offer the CX-90 as a 5 or 7 seater.
Excellent review! I dont mind their console system. I don't like touch screens. Question though, is there a dash cam/autopilot device coms port next to the rearview mirror?
I'm not sure where the "biggest one sans third row" sits in the lineup in terms of appeal to the broader market. However I think it might actually be my pick of the four, just because of that cargo space. Unless they decide to make a Mazda6 successor on this platform, anyway.
Here in America you rarely see more than 1-2 people in a car at once. I see grandmas driving excursions. The 7 seat thing is stupid. I also think cars getting bigger is quite silly. Why does everyone need such a big vehicle. It's kind of absurd.
I find it interesting that Australia is currently the only market that has Diesel variant for CX70 and CX90. Personally, I wish our CX90 had a Diesel variant in the Philippine market.
Just wondering Matt whether the centre console finish will reflect the sunlight into your eyes? Like most vehicles these days, I think Mazda is just too expensive in most of their models these days as they try to go up market. I like that this is a 5 seater but the transmission reports turn me off. A straight torque converter transmission would have been so much user friendly. Another brand for me when I trade my Mazda 3.
Thanks Matt , so you still not convinced with the suspension and gearbox. Its a good thing to have a car with Inline 6 turbo , AWD and 8 speed transmission, wish Madza had chosen a simple torque converter from Aisin
I don’t understand how Mazda has a market for _all_ of their SUVs. They're all virtually identical, and only a centimetre or so different dimensionally from one another. It's the weirdest sales strategy out there, and yet it _seems_ to be effective for Mazda. I really can't wrap my noodle around that.
super keen on the cx70 in black with red interior, looks slick az
Finally, a vehicle without 7 seats about time they realised most don't want them.
In line 6. Such a nice engine configuration!
85k for a 5 seater Mazda, 85k for SantaFe, 120k for Prado, 75K for Kia Sorrento, 85K for Nissan Pathfinder, no thanks.
Ridiculous 😅😅 $
That's why Chinese vehicles are selling like gangsters. 😊
That's why Chinese cars are selling so well. These manufacturers are pricing themselves out of contention. 😊
I consider this too big as my kids are moving out. And for a CX60 with this output and all the problems rectified, it will be tempting.
An Azami SP diesel in the copper colour would a great choice.

So weird. Why do they have an entire model just for a 5 seat version of the 90!
I do prefer the five seater love the size love 5he space
Also an EV owner. Its just refreshing to dtive the mazda. Such an emotional car vs the appliance feel of mainstream crossovers and specially EVs.
Matt has lost his mind. A dual cab as an alternative to an SUV ?
I haven’t. I talking to the buyers that are thinking that way.

Yeah but they’re getting bigger to include all the tech to have high safety scores, and also to house more complex powertrains.

Europe's emissions laws are killing off diesels

Yawn… it’s nice, it’s sensible, it’s practical but I can’t help but feel we have lost any vestiges of innovation and interesting design.

The CX-50 would be a more rounded choice, price wise most automakers do not read the room…
Mazda CX 5 Turbo any day. 😊
It’s good. But gimme a Mazda 6 turbo wagon instead.
Love my CX-5 Signature with the turbo. Fun car to drive!
Surely there is space for a spare tyre for such a LARGE monster
It has a spare tyre. Underneath the moldings that hold the jack.
No spare?
Mazda made another bubble?
Leg room
$76k plus ORC? Wow…Australians are rich
must be me but it looks like it was made 5 years ago .
I think people buying SUV with that sort of size would prefer Toyota LandCruiser or Prado.
I'd pick the new 250 Prado.
Mazda priced itself out of the market.
Geezzz! Just buy a CX5 for half the price and be done with it. I just don't get this tsunami of Mazda SUVs.
😂😂😂 So true!! I cant tell them apart anymore 😂
You people are delusional. The prices are outrageous. The sooner the Chinese cars arrive the better.
🤣
Unfortunately, they are not much cheaper. Wish they were 30-40k...
I will never support the CCP government (especially with their aggression against Taiwan)
It looks so outdated, in and out. Mazda needs to step up their game.
Lol
You should have gone to Specsavers...
