I have recently built my own house consisting of an open parking area on the ground floor on top of which are constructed two floors for residential purpose. I was in a dilemma as to which type of bricks to use ACC blocks or red bricks, I finally opted for red bricks as they are tried and tested whereas ACC blocks are a new concept I have not come across any structure built with ACC blocks which is say 10 or 15 years old, I have no idea as to how these blocks will stand up to weather conditions over a long period. Durability, strength etc., of ACC blocks are as of now purely based on theory. I highly respect you Sir for your knowledge and experience in his field, but I have come across many people who have this doubt about ACC blocks as to their durability over a long period of time given the climatic conditions in India. It varies from hot and dry to humid and wet conditions with heavy rainfall in different parts of our country. I humbly request you to give your opinion on this point.

There is no clear cut answer to this. It's upto you. For higher floor AAC can be better. Also availability of AAC can be an issue in some places.

Bz I heard chipping is easier in red clay bricks rather than aac blocks as it takesup cracks in whole block...and also for interior renovation works red clay bricks is suggestible due to change in switch boards..

If you use ACC structure then Column structure and Other beams , Slabs etc is required at regular intervals.

1. As fly ash is one of the major ingredients & it was harmful for environment so it was made to be used in AAC blocks & fly ash bricks, so will it have any bad effect on humans or animals ?
2. How much cooler it will be when compared to fly ash or red bricks (in %age) ?
3. Is fly ash brick better than AAC as it is stronger ?
4. Will adhesive be cheaper overall as it is being used only 3mm vs 10mm cement and if we use adhesive, should it be of the same company as of the block or is there any good companies which I can buy for adhesive ?
5. How many years do AAC & fly ash brick can hold the strength as compared to red bricks ?
6. Also heard that AAC blocks develop cracks easily, pls tell ways to stop it ?

use of chicken mesh wire is compulsory during external plaster where there is a jointbetween block and cement........then no crack will appear..........secondly every three layer of aac block use a layer of iron...........this will reduce occuring of cracks
