I think a Navy blazer is the perfect jacket. Especially when I don’t want to take time to match something with a patterned sport coat or wear a suit. They pretty much work with everything 👍
I learned this trick from some stylish women in my office. “Put a blazer over it”. We are on the more casual side of business casual. I wear a blue Oxford button down, dark or black jeans and boots every day. Throw a blazer on, ready to present. I have one maroon and one khaki jacket that I just leave at the office. Get a surprising amount of compliments on my $15 clearance Macys unstructured jackets.
You definitely should do a definitive video on how to style fedora hats at one point… …and have various outfit options including suit & tie and blazers & jeans!
YES!! A navy blazer with flat front chinos and a button-down shirt are a classic!! Myself, I am trying SO HARD to bring back the ascot tie (with a contrast pocket square, of course) as a final touch... that Cary Grant (To Catch a Thief) look.
Blazers have there place in men's wardrobe, but its a very slim portion. The sports coat on the other hand is so much more versatile when it comes to making a statement. You can wear it with jeans, but chinos make a much better outfit.
The Knights of Columbus Color Corps uniform consists of a navy blazer, charcoal slacks, white shirt, dark blue and red tie, beret, service baldric, and sword.
I personally am quite a fan of the mid 80s through the 90s rockstar causal kind of thing, with class and now a proper fit, instead of the whole "baggy" thing. The idea is the blazer look with maybe a t-shirt or longsleeve underneath and jeans, or a matching set of pants with the blazer. So maybe, for example, also a blazer with a buttondown shirt tucked into jeans type of look, maybe even without a belt (if you can pull it off). Anyway, this is the kind of style I love and look up to and I'm not even to my 30s yet (but it will look great then throughout that decade too). But most importantly, it being with more neutral or the classic colors, so sticking with your blacks, whites, grays browns, and blues/navy, for example, and also all of it being paired with your favorite chelseas, chukkas or loafers of course. Also throwing in a leather jacket of course with that now and then is a must for blazer replacement. Good video.
Part of our military mufti is a navy blue jacket with embroidered Regiment badge under the pocket and flannel grey pants. Timeless jacket that goes all the way back to the British Navy (for the blue one) aboard the HMS Blazer. A traditional Blazer is double breasted with brass buttons. All of us wear a navy blue sports jacket because that is the accepted form, but it does have its roots with the traditional blazer. When we see it in the Mess, we know that the wearer is one of us.After we retire out of the service, since we can no longer wear service uniforms, the mufti lets us keep associated with our units without being 'in'. The people still serving in our units also know that is the "uniform" of a veteran. Always enjoy the history part of the videos Antonio. Keep up the good work.
They may be more dressy than sports jackets honestly, sports jackets and blazers to me are especially our older men like Grandpa’s are more their style. Especially the pinks greens these weird color sports jackets that don’t even fit in menswear. In my opinion it should be suits if you’re gonna be wearing it properly if I go casual below that dressy casual for me especially in the fall and winter time early spring sweater, dark denim dress shoes, everything below that for me is casual. I have a request Antonio, do you haven’t talked about black tie for years can you please do an updated video for this channel about black tie at least for one video talk about morning dress, the stroller suit and white tie I have watched Rafael‘s videos on his channel but I want to hear your version on this channel. I know it’s not popular but I think we at least deserve one or two videos regarding that
I recall that pocket square was a no go with a blazer. So now I am confused. Lol I think it was from Rafael’s channel. Not sure. I love your videos and your presentations.
I love my Slick Color and my navy blue blazer with gold buttons from Jos A Bank. Been wearing it for years. I also had a regatta blazer for a while. Wore it a few times and got compliments, then outgrew it sadly. Love smart-casual style.
Back in the late 80-'s to late 90's I would do the blue blazer w/a White dress shirt, Tan Slacks with a burgundy shoe, tan socks and a yellow tie with blue & white polka dots.
Please do one on good robes for Hogwarts. My son is going there this Autumn and I'm becoming desperate because all the ones I've seen for sale in Greenland are all made from polyester.
I only have a navy blazer, THE navy blazer. Double breast 4x2, brass buttons, navy serge wool. It is very traditional. I sometimes wear it with navy pants like a suit. Is it a faux pas to wear blazer with matching pants?
I'm on a tropical island with year-round 36 degree weather. Even the locals are complaining the world will burn up, it's hotter than before. Yesterday met some girls form a village on the island who came to the big city, complaining it's too hot, they won't stay long. What blazer should I wear? I have my suitcase packed with tweed.
Great content, Tony. Anyone have opinions on Brooks Brothers versus J Press for an off-the-rack navy blazer? Only BB has stores/outlets in my area. The Archive Classic fits me well and seems a value at the price point. Please, chime in J Press fans/owners. Thank you.
Thank you for this! A thought to share about the fashion of close--fitting, short-length blazers and jackets: A helpful employer said they should be just long enough to cover "nuts & butts." ;- Fortunately, It looks like we're swinging back to a more relaxed, "happy medium" look. BTW: Loafers look good with sports jackets and blazers, too!
Too bad most of the clips were of guys wearing close-fitted Euro-style skinny suits. I never understood the appeal of this style, the men look like 12-year-old little boys wearing clothes that are too small for them.
I have a little off topic question about trousers. I would like to wear some nicer trousers, but i need them to have at least 3 pockets on the front (need to have the phone, wallet and keys - all are pretty big), I don't wanna have anything in the back pocket as I'm afraid I would either lose it or someone would steal it. Now I usually have some black cargos, but i can see, that with a sports jacket/jacket it wouldn't look as good as I want it to. So, what would you recommend? Shoud I stick to the cargos, or try something else? If so, what should I try?
Well i know what a Blazer is, i have a navy blue club blazer. Bug since english uz nog mh first or second language, i cannot understand thr term sports jacket. For me it is a simlple blazer. In Swedish a sportsjackeg is something you wear when you are training outside..
@@rediiusHow long would you have to be wearing it for this to actually become noticeable? I feel like this would be like a years worth of wearing it alone every day to cause that.
As with all Antonio's videos, a lot of good advice, but a couple of the combos he suggested just seem "off" to me. The sartorial chemistry just isn't right. Cowboy boots with a blazer just seem like mismatch. They're fine with denim or a western-styled suit, but they just don't harmonize well with the blazer, especially given the latter's nautical heritage. Try white bucks or spectators instead. Likewise, I don't see moleskins with a worsted blazer. May be okay with a flannel blazer (I've got one I cherish...but then I designed it), but moleskins are great with tweed, camel's hair or corduroy jackets, though.
A blazer,be it a school blazer,or just an everyday blazer, must be plain and dark blue of black with black of dark blue buttons, and not be too conspicuous or bright!

Royal blue sports coat with jeans 🔥

Been using Slick Collar for several years. Fantastic product to look great. I highly recommend this. Economical way to elevate that style 👍🏻

I think blazers are an essential part of a man's wardrobe

Awesome video. Love the point about avoiding trying to match the blazer to the pants.
Exactly!!
Thank you sir for another amazing video! I love blazers/sports jackets and try to work them into my daily wear. Tough for Florida high heat!!

I have Slick Collar! Love them both.
Awesome!
Love the white dress shirt you’re wearing. The contrast is really cool. What brand is that?

I only have a navy blazer, THE navy blazer. Double breast 4x2, brass buttons, navy serge wool. It is very traditional. I sometimes wear it with navy pants like a suit. Is it a faux pas to wear blazer with matching pants?
Not at all. What you should look out for is mix and matching it with different colored trousers.
The pant in question is navy in color but the blazer has more purple hue so in the distance they look matching.

what do you think about Suitsupply suits and blazers?
How about a brown blazer? What color trousers should be worn with it?
Excelente información y útil . Muchas Gracias.
I want a mavy blue blazer or sport coat, still trying to figure out the differences since they are so minor.
What is the shirt your wearing. I like that blue band under the buttons
I so appreciate your work here! Thank you

Agreed, what is that, and what's its purpose? It's the wrong way round (of course).
What about a white or cream blazer.

What is the difference between stiched on front pockets vs normal suit jacket pockets?
So what's the difference between a blazer and a sports jacket?
Where did you get that white dress shirt you wore?? The one with the black accent?
THANK YOU!!! So helpful
Thanks for your insights!! 😊
Welcoome!
how about LOAFERS with Blazer ? is it still OK.... ?
I wore Blazers and topcoats back in high school so I was automatically labeled a nerd😅
I have the slick collar, it works!!
Especially about sensitive subjects
Very few jackets have the chest pocket on the right side and the lapel button hole on the left. Interesting.
Was he in a mirror?
@@AntPDC Maybe. But the button hole was still on his left.
A blazer is one solid color vs a sports coat that has a pattern or just not solid
I would love to see a video on how to style a contemporary cowboy look inspired by traditional clothing from 1860-1900 NOT western rodeo clothes.
Sounds a bit niche. I mean, who wants to look like a cowboy, aside from cosplay?
Your view is quite myopic@@AntPDC
Could I wear a suit jacket as a separate making it a blazer?
Sure, but the concern is eventually after repeated wearing and fading from normal wear and tear the trousers and jacket won't match anymore.
@@rediiusHow long would you have to be wearing it for this to actually become noticeable? I feel like this would be like a years worth of wearing it alone every day to cause that.
I'd have thought that unless your suit jacket has contrasting buttons, no. That's what distinguishes a blazer from a regular jacket.
Slick collers cures cancer
Word of advice, DO NOT EMULATE HERB TARLIC FROM WKRP IN CINCINNATI 🤣🤣🤣🤣❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
A blazer over a polo has me perplexed if it’s great or bad.

Changing the buttons on a suit jacket would not increase the material weight
The 11th Doctor wore a bow tie. More contemporary.
I prefer the fourth Doctor and his extremely long scarf. Looks like no one else here knows who we’re talking about.😉👍

What about as a boy child
Sitting in airports.. See a chap in a navy blazer and chinos, instantly think “oh look, an American CEO” 😊
Queen Victoria reign started 1837.
I read that the term "blazer" has come to mean ANY formal jacket from unstructured sports jacket to suit jacket
I am sorry but you should start looking at your shirt first😂
Victoria became queen in 1837 - just sayin ' . . . 😉
History note: Victoria didn't become Queen until 1837 so the inspection story is off
Sorry, major style crash, so 90's. Very outdated American fashion
