Love this night walk! Was in Osaka in 2018 in Sept. …TOO HOT. Love Japan-just not in the summer. Keep up the beautiful work. Yours was one of the channels that prompted me into a used GRii and, MAN!, I love it. Can’t wait to get a GRiii for that sweet IS. I *love* the images I get from the GR but-w/o IS-sharp handheld images in low light is hit & miss. Be Well
Yes, Summer in Japan is too much... I also always struggled to get usable low light handheld images with my old GR. The GR III(x) is definitely a big jump up with the IBIS. For daylight the older GR's still rock though! :) Thank you for the comment!
Love these night shots from your GR.. It's a push for me to get myself a small capable camera with me at all times, since you never know what you might encounter or see.. And happy birthday 😁🎉🎉🎉 Side note: where I live in the Middle East, 39 degrees is basically like a regular thing for us, since we live in 45-50 degrees for almost half a year 🥲💔
@@Jason_Tayco It's not really a "struggle", more like a daily routine 😂💔 The GRIIIx is actually the camera I'm interested in mostly.. I need to try the 40mm focal length first to see if it's for me, because I've always been a 35mm guy.. Fortunately, I don't really see much difference in 5mm extra 😁

That's a great walk and a cool night session. Love it. There is no harm to take some rest time to time. But as you said, it's a good thing to keep doing some photo, even it's not just streephotography. I can see you're busy with your son and life in general but it's necessary to have some free time for yourself. Some will tell you it's kind of "egoist" but everybodies need it, no need to lie, just to think or clear our head. keep the good work Samuel and happy birthday :)

Love these shots! Going on night walks is something I love to do in bigger cities. I don't have the X, but I've been blown away by the quality of the GR3's IBIS. I love the possibilities it opens up for this kind of thing. And happy birthday!
Samuel, good for you, it’s hard to stay disciplined after kids. As far as getting tired of street photography, here’s the issue, and Albert Watson mentioned something in his masterclass that totally makes sense… He would get tired of the high fashion portraiture, and he would run away to do landscape photography. And at some point, he’d get tired of landscape photography and say “I want to see people”. In other words, our minds need time to rest and refresh. It is good to have at least 2-3 different genres of photography to ping pong from to refresh our minds. After having a baby, I can’t go do landscapes as much, so I do these random casual photos for me, I also do like Ibarionex Perello and go walk around my neighborhood to find ordinary good photos, and then when I go to locations with family I spend like 15-20 minutes hunting for something worth having. So these night walks are a good break. Good luck.

Really enjoyed this video as it was full of possibilities, the shots and scenes had a very Gregory Crewdson feel, which made me think you could shoot some very interesting fashion or personal images, with just a couple of simple battery lights, and a few models and props ? I wish I'd go out more, especially in the forest but we have a massive population of boars that aren't very friendly and you have a high chance of encountering them in the evening as well as morning. Fantastic video. Really enjoyed this one. When I was in Japan for work and couldn’t sleep at night because of Jetlag I often roamed the streets at night too. Was relaxing. BTW I heard a rumour if you would shut of all drinks vending machines in Japan you could shut down one nuclear power plant . Wonder if that’s true….😅??
Great video Hr Streetlife. I am very envious of your being in Osaka, hot or not. In my pre-retirement years I spent a ton of time there (and Narita) , especially Namba/Dōtonbori. My walks at night were not as late as yours, but the scenery along the river and in the covered walkways was always interesting. I suspect you would get a very interesting shot of the sign over the north entrance to Doguya Suji. Keep up the great work and Happy Birthday -- you now have half my years.
I do night street photography too, in the wee hours while everyone is sleeping. Love the cool and calm atmosphere; the tranquility of the night it offers. As if time and space stand still. The beauty of the night. Really enjoy this video very much. Osaka night streets are beautiful and you have captured many great shots. Photo display format with the shutter sound is fun and cool. Always an inspiration, really enjoyed this one. I bought a used GR couple years ago, but as a landscape photographer, never really invested the time with it. Having watched your videos, I've realised this little pocket wonder's full potential. I absolutely love it, it's always with me. I shoot full manual, inspired by you know who.. wi fi and image stabilisation is next on my list, but I won't part with this little pocket gem.

There is just something about the peacefulness of a city at night.
