Do ribbons sometimes cause split ends?

Depends on the materials of the ribbon. If it's silky it won't but if the material is rough than a it can cause damage

How often do you wash your “scalp” specifically

Right now I am washing my hair once a month since I have a protective style in. I am using light hair products.
If I use heavy products I would have to clean my scalp every second week.
