The F-16 Fighting Falcon are the mainstay of the US Air Force and are not designed to operate (take off and land) on carriers). US Navy carriers fly F/A-18 Super Hornets are designed/equipped for carrier operations.

Give credit where credit is due, the Americans do make them big and pretty however, the day is nearing where America must now consider size and concentrate on quantity and this is now possible with vertical lift fighters and associated aircraft. They can still be nuclear but they don’t have to be the size of the Ford. You can retail your large carriers for those aircraft requiring launching and runway landing retrieval such as the F16 and 18’s. Anyway, the American do give assurance of the world being a safer place when they visit to show their support for the alliance against oppressive murdering countries such as Russia. The world does thank them and most of all, respect them and their commitment.
An F-16 cannot operate from a carrier. The F-18, F-35, and the Harrier are the only US fighters currently in service designed to operate from carriers. The Harriers are being phased out and replaced by the F-35.
