      I was on vacation for the first time in athens around the time the uss gerry ford entered athenian waters. I wondered, was she escorted by any destroyer, cruiser, corvette? in all honesty (it's the first aircraft carrier I've seen with my own eyes) I expected to find some Arleigh Burke around it, or a Ticonderoga (rarer) or some other escort vessels...submarines? nothing? I got to see it even more closely, but I didn't see anything.

    • @fasttruckman
      @fasttruckman 10 месяцев назад

      @flaviosonetti515 More than likely, they were outside of the carriers anchoring location patrolling and guarding the entrance. The carrier at anchor is at her most defenseless state outside of U.S. territory. Rest assured, she is well protected at all times while visiting allied territory.

    Awesome projection of power!!!
    So, the design is unlike the Forrestal Class or the Nimitz Class. The island is way back stern vice midships. Greater flight deck area. Better to best!
    If you miss the climb up to the Parthenon in Acropolis, your port visit to Athens, Greece, is incomplete. Just an awesome appreciation of how much human energy moved those huge stone pillars up the hill. On top and sitting on those steps around the Parthenon is emotional. It is equally difficult to reconcile how Venice, Italy existed.

    • @chazsutherland
      @chazsutherland Год назад +1

      I believe the island was pushed aft so the area forward of it can be used as a pitstop of sorts. She also has one less elevator and with the island's new location, taxiing vehicles is still more manageable and more efficient overall.

The US has a moral responsibility to use its resources to help maintain peace in the world. We don't want war. NATO was formed after WWII to help prevent war. Millions died in WWII. People (not necessarily you) keep acting like the US and NATO are the bad guys, and I'm sick of that crap. Bad actors in the world say crap like that. Anyway, have a good day.

    The Black Sea is in reach - very good to know that US Navy is prepared ! The criminals in Kremlin need a clear message that the democratic states of the world do not tolerate violence - and such a message is: the closing of the airspace over Ukraine and the delivery of long-range missiles to Ukraine for the case that Russian criminals fire from Russia to Ukraine (what they constantly do).
    In such case Ukraine is allowed to fire back into Russia. All according to normal logic and international law.

    • @rickbase833
      @rickbase833 10 месяцев назад

      While the USN doesn't send carriers into the Black Sea, it does send a destroyer there to exercise freedom of navigation. This usually draws out the ire of Russia so they will send in aircraft to buzz the ships. In the 80s and early 90s the Russians actuall sent in ships to intimidate USN vessels and even make physical contact sometimes.
      True story.....the Black Sea is host to the latest Russian submarine......the Slava class missile cruiser named Moskva.....thanks to Ukraine.
