Justifiable excitement about making your life easier and making the highlands lives easier as well. Whats not to love about that? Great video Tom. Congrats on the merch launch being so successful as well. Nice work all round by you and Jo
Neptune is one lucky boy getting extra heifers. That tombstone feed ring will make a big difference to your highland cattle, they love it all ready. Great video Tom
Tom your love for Neptune is showing- do you realize over the last few vids the tone of your voice changes and you get really enthusiastic when you’re talking to him/about him? 😂 you should do a mini compilation video of all of the clips for fun. Glad you got/now know a good solution that prevents them from getting their horns stuck!
@@LoonaBolti Neptune clearly earns his keep on the farm and is goofy/lovable, especially with the brush! So he's very deserving of the love! I just started noticing the tone change last video and find it totally adorable.
Love seeing what you're all up to on the farm & love seeing those sweet cows. Thanks for all the effort you put into making these videos Tom, its appreciated! 🐮❤
Hi that’s what I suggested to you in the comments when Harriet got her head stuck, a tome stone feeder 👍🏻 Please please get more merchandise. I went on to buy at lunchtime and all sold out 🥺. Love your videos we have a dairy farm near Whitby and my husband watches you religiously. 👍🏻
Tom mentioned in one of his recent videos there will be another merch update in November so people can hopefully get some before Christmas if they wish to.
Love every video I’ve watched your rocking it mate . It’s always a bonus when Heidi there to correct you she looks like she’s enjoying life too. Definitely going to take a trip over to visit the farm . The animals are looking in great condition keep the videos coming and Happy Farming.
Tom down here in Tasmania (Australia) these feeders are just called a ring feeder designed to fit a large round bale our comes with long pins that slide down in channels to hold them together, super easy to use and move no spanners/drills or big machinery needed Heidi would love them A word of warning calves/weaners can and will get stuck and our big boy Hamish loves to turn it upside down but they are brilliant
You are so insperational I have been watching your videos for a while and I really like them because I live on a farm and gives me ideas for when I get older
I'm impressed by the Highland's common sense. They cleverly twisted their heads to get their horns in. Whereas, a dog has a big stick in his mouth and can't get through the door has no clue what to do!!! Yay cows!
@@TomPembertonFarmLife initially I thought a sheet metal cone so feed didn’t sit on top of it but then I thought a metal barrel will be free and something you would have lying around
Once they eat what they can reach they will slide the feeder over so they can reach the middle as it is not fixed to the ground We’re the plastic plugs you were hammering in not ment to be feet for the feeder
You should try the Kellfri one which has a three point linkage brackets and instead of bolts has pins so you can open it to drop the hay in. Saves a lot when you don't have a frontloader available. Had one for two years now and makes life great.
When Neptune notices the new Beannie Babies 😂 if nothing else watching Tom has made me a fan of Highland's. There is a national registry in U.S. and the Highland calves are even cuter in real life. Also Tom thanks for showing more of Heidi. Nice to see a bigger presence from her.
Hi, i just found your channel, the video image is superb and you have great positive energy, i just subscribed to your channel and liked this video. Kinda takes me away and want to be living more in the country side, thanks for making these videos. Wow lot of hard work, great job, beautiful creatures! Introvert mom of 4 sons (2 autistic) having fun making new youtube friends, learning from others, while trying to grow my small niche channel ( importance of dog therapy music). Thanks for what you do and your attitude. 😀
Amazing video again Tom. Love watching your videos. Thanks for giving me advice the other day on how to get some work and experience on local dairy farms. Your a proper inspiration mate.
Hey Tom, I have several of these on my farm. We run beef cattle (Angus X) for fattening and once the cattle approach weights above 350kg the feeders are relatively useless. Biggest problem is they are too light and the animals rub/shift them easily unless you keep them packed with hay/silage. Definitely have there uses but in general I wouldn’t get any more of them personally.
Yes Tom, Today! Or last night @2am mountain time US🤓 I was up yet again! Got it right this time! Thanks for being so sweet! PS: THE OLD MERCH STORE IS LINKED UNDER VIDEOS-not your new beautiful one!!
My day as a Scot in USA....watch Hoop GP then Tom Pemberton...I guess I miss the old country. Excellent videos from both gentlemen. No she did not say that LOL
Is Heidi a student helper??? Her attitude towards her work is commendable. Patsy, my SH, got caught and I hand fed her sweet feed aka “cake” and bowels of water all day till hubby came home fr work. Thk goodness Harriet is ok💗. Will Neptunes babies b 2 big????? 😰 Please watch a fellow SH admirer. His r named Hamish and Kloye on.....Silent Saddle on RUclips. The man takes brilliant care of his cattle, just like u!!
Simple way to pick it up Tom would be just to open up your shear grab and poke the lower tines through the tomb stones :) I do the same with ordinary ring feeders and a dung grab
Great vid Tom your jokes proper lad. I bet you an your Mrs have a laugh a minute. Keep up the good work you have had alot more rain than us Cheshire not to bad at all still getting corn in.
Classic tom always looking on the bright side.Especially when it comes to Neptune even when it was looking bad for him and his Keep doing what your doing.👍.
Hay holder for round bales . Hello , Heidi good see your wanting to learn about things on the farm. I’ve notice your voice changes when you talk about Neptune you get ambitious and excited .That is cool you got a ring feeder for them. Highland cows our wonderful cow’s on the farm .Yahoooooooo hope you get baby calf’s two cross angus beef that would be cool.
Hi Tom only just finding out about your videos through playing Farming Simulator 19 where someone is building a map about your farm. Loving the videos and learning things as I know nothing about farm life
If you need another feeder for cattle with outside horns .. take an old ordinary round feeder that the metal sheeting has rotted out on , and just turn it upside down ...
Wonderful video again, love the ring feeder. Do you ever want to breed the two highlands with a pure bred highland bull that you rent out? Just wondering if there is any advantage for you in that.....but never want to loose good ‘ol Neptune.
Hi 👋 Tom the only other way that I used to move those (tombstone) ring feeders was to put them on there side and Roll them and if they were to be transported same again on there said one behind the other along with there feed, but it was still interesting 🤔 all the same.
Looks like the openings are spaced to close together for the highlands horns. Looks like it might work out better if the cattle had to be spaced farther apart when using, easier for them to use without bumping in to oneanother especially the horns.
Over here we just call them round bale feeders. Common for horses. They're really good as the animals can't spread the feed all over the place. This rule does not apply for goats ( like most rules😁). Love from West Australia.
Back in the day long before you were a twinkle in the Ginger Guys with the moustache they had Tomb stone barriers along the face of the silage clamp on direct feed and they got that name from when the face collasped and trapped the cow or beast feeding with the obvious results broken neck.
I wish I had an employee like Heidi...ready to jump in and learn new things...won't give up even if a challenge is presented to her. Nice!!
I love that you removed the iron bar, rather than the cow’s horns! So much care.
Plus, ear protection!
Wow Angus and Highland cross how awesome that calf/ calves would look like!! I can't wait to see the wee ones🐂🐃❤💯🌾☘🌿🌱
Things have changed so much since I left the farm in 1975. I love your videos. Tom, love your humor!
Cows in general always seem so chill, but the Highlands are a mood!
How things have changed since I left the farm life 45 years ago. Keep up the good work. Love the videos

Tom get a metal barrel in the middle of the feeder so you don’t have wasted feed in the centre of the feeder where the cows can’t reach
dont need :) 2,3 meter in diameter, bulls are eating everything :) maybe hailends are smaller, mine is limousine and angus
Great idea 👏

You can just tip it up onto its side, roll it over to where it needs to be, and tip it over the bale it needs to go over

They did try last year, but it wasn't successful. So they put Neptune in with them because of his success rate, but a couple still didn't take.
Those feeders are great to put round bales in.

Heidi is beautiful. Tom is a moron.
If u put a barrel in the middle of the tomb stone the silage will keep to the edges and prevent wastage of food

To be fair Tom that's how we move assembled ones around the yard at Carrs Billies. Only easy way to do it.
A personal thanks to Pete for sending this along to him. Very kind, and great advertising
If they do have trouble getting food from the middle you could always put a few tires in the middle to keep the food around the edges.
Tom I think those plastic end caps are meant to go in to the bottom of the vertical bars to serve as feet for the ring feeder...
