- Every day, as part of my chores, I have to chain up 6 of the Highland Cattle cows. I have to hug them around their neck to get the chains on. At first it was a bit scary when they didn't know me yet, but now, after a few weeks, the cows don't mind at all. Tag along on my daily routine...

Many blessings on your journey. I worked as a university professor for many years before retirement. Now I raise organic vegetables, fruit trees, honey bees and dual purpose chickens. Never too late to start the dream!
I love how the farmer has trained those cows. It’s fascinating watching them go to their own spot and looks like he saves on food.
Farmers used to individually feed there cattle like that in Byers but they are gradually being banned in the last places still doing it.
It's like church. Everyone sits in the same spot. It is a little disconcerting if someone sits in the wrong spot.
It’s actually more impressive when it’s a barn full of 130 milk cows being let into the barn and they all know their own stall
You are a wonderful father Simeon and your boys will treasure this time doing their chores and the special time being with a loving dad. Yor family is a great role model for other families.
I used to take care of my father in laws cattle, horse, mules ( my husband would help every now and then). My father in law said all you need to do come feed time is tell them "Get in! Get in! kindly. They did just that with no problem. I look back and love the memories.
And this is why farmers had big families. A huge amount of work for one person!
We have sheep and goats in the Sahara, with herds divided into seven groups, and at the end of the day, they all go to their own pens--usually, almost always. I love to watch them.
Highland cattle are so laid back, friendly & have a fantastic temperament compared to some other breeds.
Simeon, those Highlander are smart! the farmer must have worked with his herd a lot to get them that tame. Wow those Alps are beautiful! Good job boys and that is Awesome to see you help your dad.
Hello Simeon, how beautiful to wake to low clouds and that view! ☺️
Amazingly we trained cattle.
Good to see your children coming out to help and make the job get done quickly. 👍🏼
Pray your documents get done soon.
Blessings to you and your family.☺️💗
love seeing the Highland cattle again! brings back so many memories of your life in Sweden! stay Blessed ❤
Many years ago while growing up on a farm, my dad would feed yearling cows on a long feed bunk. There was a hierarchy as the cows lined up on either side of the long trough. The cows all knew their place, and if any one of them tried to change it, the other cattle made them know their place. Animal behavior is very interesting!
Kids have grown so much....and giving you an extra hand !! Awesome!
It's incredibly seeing the children grow throughout the Years.
I love to see your Highlanders! Your mountains are beautiful!
Absolutely! I have a small homestead and my dream is to quit the rat race and to farm full time. I've learned so much from you and really appreciate your videos. Prayers your visa goes thru quickly and smoothly. Would love to meet you guys some day. Blessings!!!
Awesome. Sounds like a plan. Maybe we will! All the best.
Wonderful to see how calm they are. Thanks for sharing. We only have 2 acres in Northern Illinois. We have 21 chickens, apples, pears, cherries, raspberries, blackberries, honey berries. Pecan trees, hazelnuts planted. Plus a large garden. Maybe when my husband retires we will get more land. But you can grow a lot of food on 2 acres- plus we have 2 fish ponds that we can use to help fertilize the garden with as our sump pumps flow into them.. we have been here for 20 years and I’m constantly looking to see what I can add.
Sounds like an awesome plan. Have you looked into Holistic Management? I believe it could assist you so much in reaching your potential on the property. I love fruit and am planning on planting lots of trees on my property in the future.
I really miss my father’s family farm I loved it I was really young but can still remember my Grandmother work her very last ❤❤ Hello from Scotland 🏴 I loving that you have our Scottish herd 🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴
I am so glad you are taking the time to show us here in the states the beauty, old structures & ways of the Alps. I have visited Austria (where my Grandfather immigrated from). One of my favorite places was old Saltzberg. I still love remembering the shops, the 'icon' signs with no words and the awesome window displays. Can you share what your plans are for when you arrive here? Will you stay with friends or do you have other plans. Even though I'm a senior , I still like to learn and it will be fun to watch you begin your life here and build your farm. I'm hoping the visa process will speed up now, so hopefully you will be able to start growing in the spring.
GORGEOUS CATTLE. JUST GORGEOUS!
I loved this video! It’s amazing how the owner trained the cattle to go into the barn like that. It seems such a peaceful thing to watch them eat and bathe or lay down-
It was wonderful to see your sons helping you some as well. Yes I would love to see him feeding the fish!!! Thanks for sharing this! God Bless
I love farming, farm life & especially the barns with all the animals. Makes me so homesick. Sea/WA/USA
Stunning view of the Alps, beautiful barn and precious children!
Scottish Highland Cattle are so awesome! They are smart, docile, and beautiful. My son has a herd of 34 at present, but each one has a distinct personality. Our Iowa winters can be harsh, but the cattle are quite capable of handling the cold if out of the wind.
Thanks for the video Simeon nicely done 👍❤️❤️❤️ it. Take care of yourself and family and God Bless you all.
It was so nice to see you and the boys working together with the cows. I am a 60 year old woman living by myself in a small town. I have always wanted to have a little farm, but, I have not been so fortunate. I do what I can right here in town. I garden, and also have a very small orchard. Someday, I may get a few chickens. Right now, at Kwik Trip, the eggs are $4.99 a dozen, butter is $3.99 a pound on sale, otherwise it is $4.99 a pound. I hope the prices are not as bad where you live. Keep posting the videos! God bless!♥️♥️
A really nice herd being kindly handled, thank-you.
Lovely.. Treating animals with dignity.
What a neat barn. It really does seem cozy ❤️
Our family's bank barn when I was a child in south central Pennsylvania was built a lot the same as the one in the presentation - ours was south facing and the bank to the north - built in 1850. This barn area with the large beams was very much the same. Interested to know when this stable/barn was built.
I have worked with horses most of my life. I love being in a barn. We still care for 3 horses. My dream life. It is so nice to see your boys learning to care for the beautiful highlanders. God bless!
Beautiful doors.
very cool about the high land cattle. so calm and tame
How beautiful. I love highland cattle. I see them in Scotland on my visits. They are very fortunate animals to have you looking after them.
YOU TALK TO TH ECATTLE LIKE I TALK TO MY DOG. SO CUTE!
Lovely to see your helpers. Danny has grown so much! And the cattle are super friendly and funny little thing going in with it's friends and escaping mum!
I like my little smallholding - hating the weather though! So wet and wild, but I love the veggies and starting a food forest. We are getting 4 chicken tractors soon, not sure if our Muscovies will approve of being in them! But hoping to get more chickens this year, down to 2 bantams now. Thanks all.
I pray you get to come to the USA soon n live a peaceful life God bless y’all from North Texas
We finally got to own land at 60 years old. We were both raised on farms and always wanted to make a living farming. It is so difficult. We keep doing our best to at least raise most of our own food and a little to share. We are in southern Michigan.
Hi Simeon, the cattle are very Smart ,like Horses .They go to their stalls Too 😊.
God Speed your Visa arrives 💖.
JO JO IN 🇺🇸💞💨❄️☃️
Nice to see a kind person treating the animals with kindness and respect.
Good to see you guys helping your Dad. Many hands make light work.😂
It’s been so long since I’ve seen your channel! I’m so glad it popped up!!!!
Hello from Ontario Canada. My grandfather is from Nova Scotia and his barn was quiet simular right down to the hay shoot. Enjoyed watching. God Bless
Until you started speaking I thought this was the Trinity Alps. It’s beautiful.
❤❤so cool that your cows know their routine. I watch a duck farmer that tells his ducks when to go to bed and when to go outside. I guess training is just basic farming tool.
Hi Simeon. Reminiscing here, that brings a lot of memories back when we used to help my father on gardening, farming and all chores. Nice to see the boys they've really grown. God bless, stay safe always sending prayers for God's blessings to get you all to the US.
Children are a blessing & a great help 😊
I really enjoyed this video thank you so much. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻I love seeing the kids. Granny B. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
GORGEOUS SCENARY!
Y’all are going to do well once you get settled in the US. The Smoky Mountains are is beautiful ⛰️
Thank you for showing all that the old ways are still good , along with new ways to help farmers and their families.
omg so happy to see you folks back - I'll need to catch up
I love Highland cattle!!
Am a farmer finishing sheep in New Zealand. We brought our farm 31 years ago, then brought out the other partners in 2010.
GOOD SHOW ! highland cattle west coast canada enjoyed!
It’s interesting about the holistic management. I am anxiously waiting for you to find your own place and continue teaching these concepts.
Interesting concept to identify what is closest to your heart and work from there. Seems like success has a good chance of happening with that concept.
Don't know much about cattle, but they look very well behaved to me.
Thanks
It was fun seeing your kids help you.
I have been away for about a year. I see lots of changes. Thank you for sharing your life.
I don’t farm but appreciate your knowledge, talent, videos, and dedication.
So good to see you after the video you made about coming to the states. I hope you find a good bit of land that you can call your own to farm as you wish, I have watched you for years now, and appreciate the vast experience that you have gained for yourselves. God bless you in your jouney ! Much love from Oregon. AAnnmarie
This is so encouraging, thank you for sharing!
Great to see you getting some help there...
Many hands make light work!
🌲 👍
Very interesting video. Thank you for taking us along with you on your work schedule. They do seem very tame.
I love rumble it's a great platform 👍🇺🇲
The Highlanders look great
I am in USA and when I do my cattle barn that's how i will do it , calm cattle I am done chasing cattle and them be wild , It make it better in my older Year's .
That's pretty cool. Thanks for showing us.
Great video! Highest % of likes to views I have seen in ages! Great blend of content
That was the way with our dairy goat herd. The dominant one got the first stall and the young ones had to go to the far end.
It is good to see the kids pitching in. I am impressed at the cows routine.
Very slick way to feed and maintain your cattle. Amazing how the cattle go right to the same spots every time. Very very slick job guys. GREAT HELPERS‼️🐂🐂 Vinny 🇺🇸
Wow. Love the way they know to go where they belong. Awesome video
What a blessing to have kids like yours, to help and learn, God bless you and your family.
Beautiful barn and animals.
Even in a big American dairy herd the cows have their own stalls or at least their favorite neighbors. When our was under 30 milking they all had their own stalls. Once we got bigger we let them choose. But they have instinctively desire for consistency. So if not the same stall they will want one close to it. So you end up with close to door cows middle cows and end cows. Regardless of breed grandpa
had Guernsey and now we have Holstein, Jersey and Milking shorthorns. Interestingly enough I found my great great grandparents started with milking shorthorns in the 1860s when they immigrated here. So I'm the 5th and last generation to milk cows.
Switching over to beef cows. You need 100 cows milking per family now in our area to make a living. So my 110 year old barn with
40 cow stalls is obsolete and will retire with me. I've loved farming for my 60 plus years but my night job fixing corporate jets pays the bills. Enough 365 24 hours a day for me. Best of luck to your family there is no better place for kids to grow up.
It is so f'ing gorgeous. Oh my gosh.
Here in Scotland the Highland cattle mainly live outdoors all year. They can live perfectly well outside. If you fed them the evening food outside they would not need to be in the shed.
happy that you are back again. i hope your process to get into the u.s. happens soon. god bless
Did you see they are now raising highland cattle in southern USA. Oklahoma to be exact and in summer they shed a lot of that long hair. Walker farm fam has several.
Good day to you from the state of Ohio in the USA.
Hej Simeon, just for your information a stable is usually where horses are kept. Most people would call a building housing cattle a barn.
I didn't know that... thanks for pointing that out to me.
@@simeonandalex Well ask your dear wife , see if she agrees with me.
@duette 445 Did you really just make that statement?
A stable is described as:
“A building in which domestic animals are sheltered and fed”
Just because you’ve only heard of it in the context of “horse stable” doesn’t mean that it only applies to horses.
Yikes! Those horns!
In Texas the longhorns and all cattle with horns have them trimmed so no one gets gored.
I know these are very tame cattle, but that would worry me! Be careful! And thanks for sharing.
It is so wonderful to see you and your beautiful family on social media again.
Thats a nice place you keep them in
Great watching your routine.
Thank you so much for sharing that!! Heartwarming to see you and boys doing the chores. I’m glad for you that you and your wife both share the same dream. I’m sure you two will make your dreams come to pass. Don’t wait too long!!
This was great thanks for sharing. Be well!
❤️🇨🇦
Simeon, I thought you moved to the States! You moved out of focus for a while. Nice to see you back.
Wow them boys have really grown. Especially daniel. It's great to see them interact with you and help on the farm or do any farming you do. It's amazing to see how anxious they are to help you. You have raised some beautiful children and well mannered. The farm there is awesome. I love how well trained the cattle are. That's really something to see. Would've loved to have seen that farmer train them cattle to go to there own stalls and places as they do. That to is different I have never seen anything like that before. May God continue to bless you and your entire family on there journies ahead, and keep you all safe and well always. Hello to your wife and daughter too. God bless you always. See you next time.
Blessings and prayers for a healthy journey as your dreams come true.
Wow! So glad I found your channel! Blessings, and best of luck to you and yours!
I never did manage to get to look at the barn opposite my grandparents house. I always like the idea of living above the animals and the hay/straw above that. I never did understand why they chained the cattle up, I know it’s traditional but never did find out
your kids are so cute.
Very interesting!!! Beautiful barn!! Loved seeing the cows come into their designated spots!! Stay safe!!
Así tenían que ser todas las vaquerías👏👏👏👏
Great video Simeon.
There's something special about a byre full of cows.
Takes me back to my student days, tending Herefords, Whitebred Shorthorns, Chianinas and a Maine Anjou!
The hayloft, noise of the chain bindings and the contentment of the animals takes me right back.🙂👍
Best wishes to you and your family..I hope all your dreams come to pass..keep your family close
This video made me smile!
I just came across your video for the first time. I really enjoyed watching you and your children. They are so sweet. Thank you, for praising the Lord Jesus Christ in your life and video. This is our purpose in life is the Lord’s good pleasure. May He bless you and your family. If you come to the US it will be in the Lord’s time, if it is His will. But please be careful because there is so much garbage going on and it is such a challenge for our young ones. It’s so good to see a video that brings praise to the Lord. There are too many videos that are so blasphemous and hypocritical. They think they are modern and hip, when they are just being used by the enemy. It was such a joy to come across a fine video as this. I subscribed.
👏👏👏👏👏😍😍😍que cuidadas están 👍👍👍👋👋
Wonderful
Excited to follow you to US, Tenn..
First time viewer and subscriber.. I have a couple of questions, 1. Where in the States are you planning on moving to? 2. Why do the cows get chained up? I think it’s so cool that they all know where their place is, I thought it was funny that the one calf decided it was a big kid and wanted to hang out with the bigger ones… just like human kids.
