This is a great show. It taught me self reliance. It's possible to do anything. Alot of people have grown lazy. I asked my coworker if he knew who MacGyver is. His response I got no idea. Who's that. It's something you say if someone MacGyvered it. To get out of a jam with limited tools.
This was one of my favorite episodes from season 1. Season 1 had many really, really good episodes, but this one I would have to say is the best. Very entertaining from start to finish and I loved this scene and the mattress slingshot and when he and that one girl made the bad guys think they went out the window.
Why don't the bad guys hear all that music playing when MacGyver walks in and is walking around. Any reasonable crook would investigate all that loud music.

The way he retrieved the antidote was great, too. It was a pill kept inside a compartment in a pen, which the boss villain then through into a nearby storm drain to cause MacGyver to despair. Mac magnetized a steel pole by smacking it against a fire hydrant, then reached down the drain with the pole to fish the pen out. Swallowed the pill with 0 seconds to spare, of course.
Two moments in this scene that are my favourite, the Dennis McCarthy score from 3:23 (especially at 3:39 to 3:57 I could listen on a repeating loop!) and Mac expression when he replies _"You bet.... yeah!"_
The idea is supposed to be for the bad guys not to know there is a hidden disaster coming at them. If the bottles have been above them the rope could have easily had a telltale sign.
The old 5 gallon sparkletts water bottle, suspended to knock down those 55 gallon barrels. And those thugs fall for 101 Look up and around looking for MacGyver.
