Wow the audio is surprisingly good considering it waz recorded on a iPhone. I now have a reason to upgrade my phone... Thanks for the great demo! I've been looking for a fuzz that I can play with my amp at lower volumes and this comparison was extremely helpful in that regard.
Awesome demo! You nailed it.... the BOG fuzz is really set up for an already slightly dirty amp. I use mine in front of a Hot Rod Deluxe that is pushed by a Klon or TS type pedal and it is fantastic. I've found it's not so great with a straight clean amp... but that's true of a lot of fuzz pedals. The original (blue) fuzz face is one of the few that really sounds good in front of a clean amp. Also the Marshall Super Bass is going to really bring out the lower frequencies that the BOG fuzz naturally has. After all, BOG is supposedly a modified Octavia circuit
This was much better and more helpfull then tons of other reviews out there.. I think I´m going to buy the Jimi one and use it as a booster for an overdrive pedal. Thanks! Great playing btw.
Bro, I've been real close to grabbing a BOG Fuzz and you just sold it for me. I use a fuzz just like you, as a booster into a Marshall overdrive (Kingsley Constable). That tone you're getting with the BOG into the overdrive is holy grail Strat tone to me. Thanks for the excellent demo.
heinz B check that out ... they all sound great, I think you gotta get your hands dirty to find out what fits you! ;-) ruclips.net/video/vmG3hzPAmQI/видео.html
Great playing, great tone!!! Question: what value Volume pot do you have in your Strat? I am wondering what works best with the Fuzz Face when rolling the guitar volume control back.
+Richard James Thanks! :-) Good question! It´s a 250er pot, but the capacitor between is very important too. I´m not sure which one realguitars uses in the custom strat. that´s the only strat I never opened, or changed pickups because it sounds perfect for me.
Hi Evan, the Jimi Fuzz mini (blue one) and the Expressofx BC183 sound similiar, both very thick, warm good fuzz tones, the expresso feels a little dirtier. But I like the Sunface BC183 more, it cuts more and has more character, refined bottom end!
Thanks! I've a Sunface CV7005, Fulltone Soulblender now. Looks like its analogman silicon next ;) (also i have a SolidgoldFX if 6 was 9 BC108 in the mail! cant wait)
I use it exactly like you bro ! Made me happy. Are you German? I'm Brazilian and my grandpa was German. I love American rock and roll and love Germany ! Rock on
Dan, good video. I have the BOG and it is excellent that said clean up not quite 'right'. In your opinion what is the best fuzz(any) that gets the classic Hendrix sound say Purple Haze, Foxy Lady, Spanish Castle Magic And cleans up for Bold as Love, Castle Made of Sand, Wind Cries ?
Hi, I really like the ExpressoFX Mojo (CV7005) and the Analogman Sunface NKT (white dot) the second is very rare and a little more cutting the Mojo is darker... both clean up great. The Sunface BC183 is also a great option because it is a little more cutting than the NKT which is often a good pick especially if you´re playing in a band with a second guitarplayer or keys...
Thanks for the advice, I like to run my Marshall's with just a little break up. I have the Sunface NKT275 white dot and find it huge sounding but very bass heavy and gets lost in the mix. However it cleans up the best out of all my fuzzes. I will go back to it and experiment further with the bias knob. I don't think I would like the Mojo if it is darker. Perhaps the BC183 is worth a try. The FFM3 does sound good on the videos, it has cut, not overly bassey and cleans up very well. The BOG does have some amazing sounds and you may doubt this but it can even can sound very close to my Klon Centaur when used as a booster which is no mean feat ! I may just need to use a couple of fuzzes to get the sounds I want.
Yeah the Sunface BC183 might work well. Did you use the internal Clean Trim Pot? I use it just a little to get a slightly cleaner tone from the Fuzz so it doesn´t get to wooly! ...also for Rhythms: I turn the Guitar Vol on about 9 to cut through a little more . I suppose you´re doing that too, right! ;-)
Good shout, I think I have it flat out thinking that I can get maximum fuzz. I will back it off and hopefully it will get clearer. I was relying on getting clean up with the volume pot. I also have a treble bleed on the volume pot that also works well with the volume rolled down. Thanks for the tips Dan and excellent channel..
Hendrix would laugh at this comment if he´d still be alive! You honestly believe that it´s up to date to play a Super Lead maxed out? And far more important: how many people are able to do that on stage!? Honestly! LOL! ... or let´s put it this way: there are far more Dunlop Fuzzes on the market than people who ever played a Super Lead (or even a Lead) cranked on stage! ;-) ... I really like to play loud and crank the amp when circumstances are good, and you´re right real poweramp compression is great, but it´s also really interesting to check out other possibilities! (That´s what Hednrix was about. Far more than just cranking the amp he invented) ...btw: Even Philip Sayce plays his Fuzz into a TS808 and Doyle uses his Fuzzes into a Jan Ray just in case you didn´t know that.... Peace, brother! Dan
Nice try but you'll have to plug in ALL the pedals of the Hendrix pedal set before any of them will start to work and make the Hendrix sound. There exclusive to the brand and nobody gets a second option about this brand exclusive electrical signal. Hendrix sound is classified as a 4 pedal set (and now its classified also as a 5 pedal set thanks to the brand new JH pedal series) so, if you look at the JH pedal set, its only 3 pedals. That means NOBODY can actually get the pedal set to work! None of the three pedals will actually work until the 4th pedal is plugged in. Fact! The forth pedal is the rotovibe pedal. The rotovibe won't make ANY useable sound until its plugged in to the JH pedal set. Fact. Lesson OVER!
Finally a video where we can actually hear the amp.

SM57 is cheaper and better !

Jason Phelps likewise, I use mine in front of an OCD and JHS Soul Food! Tastiest fuzz tones I've heard to this day.
Sounds really great! I think they both sound as good as the boutique ones like the oxfuzz and fuzz phrase.
Good job, thanks for your two cents !
I hope you can make an exclusive demo of the fuzz phrase. Thats the one i might buy soon. Thanks

Thanks man!
What silicon transistors does the band of gypsys fuzz have?

My pedal is not gainy ? is there an issue with mine, is a chrome edition of the band of gypsy does that differ from the red one ( based on components)
hi there, the chrome is supposed to be the same as the red BOG Dunlop Fuzz, must have a lotta gain. Best, Dan
Cheers for the reply man !
Dan, how does this Jimi Fuzz face mini compare to the other silicon fuzz that you have like the analogman and expressofx

3:10 Hendrix would have laughed. Guy had everything up to max.

I'm not sure I like the BOG.
I have a classic 108 fuzz that I like much better for now
yeah, you feel like me, I don´t think the BOG is a real Fuzz FACE... if you´re looking for that the 108 is better, I think. Bests, Dan
