Yet again I find myself turning to RUclips for some help and striking gold with a 'how to' video. A very well put together video from somebody who knows what he's talking about. Thanks.
Glad to help
Your vids have always been great but you've really stepped it up lately Reuben. Wish nothing but the best for you.
BortLicensePlates Thank you sir And thank you for being faithful to the channel
I gotta admit I'm thankful and humbled that you're sharing all this great content. Your work truly does all the talking.
the frugal landlord 😮 thank you sir
Nice, thanks for showing how
You’re welcome
If there was a Best DIY RUclipsr award, myself and I'm sure many other would nominate you. Great video and explanations once again!
Kevin Cassidy 😮thank you
Thanks a lot, your video really helped in our installation
Divyne Osana Thank you, really glad that it helped and I hope your project come out real nice
@@FloorsbySouthernboys Oh yes, better than we imagined
I use Crain 905 iron. Never had problem
I am loving the way your channel is going, these videos are awesome!
You know I use the Kool Top but it's been acting like it's going out lately.
Light keeps flickering on and off, can't wait to see you review the taylor tools iron or a kool glide.
😉
Gold Coast Flooring thank you Nick
Tell me why I just watched this full video 💁😂 you're talented for sure!*
Brittany Mayes thank you Brittany
Great to see this channel grow, thanks for the video really like your set up
sausage man Thanks Dave, thanks for sticking around so long
@@FloorsbySouthernboys I'm part of the fbsb family now lol I will say what's the actual name of your Robert's seam iron? because I have a roberts iron but it doesn't have the same swivel part on the cable which looks really useful to keep it out the way when seaming.
sausage man I left a link in the description so you can see all the needy greedy details about it
sausage man I guess it would be OK then if I said hello brother sausage, LOL
@@FloorsbySouthernboys😂😂 brother dave has a better ring to it.
Great video and explanation, and the white board is really good idea to demonstration how its done.
Doggo just wants to help lol
Maelthas Divine Thank you sir, I hope this helped
Great video as always! I use the orcon kool top iron. Was a hand me down from the man I started in the trade with. I've had problems with the tray wanting to fall off, but as long as I keep it somewhat cleaned out, it stays put.
Jeffrey Peterson Cool, thank you for the feedback
Thanks man
😀👍
Hey Reuben I’ve been using Orcon 14300 Kool Top Partially Grooved Seaming Iron for years. It’s been a work horse for me never had any issues.
Great video your getting creative in your old age lol. I like your mock up. 👍🏻
Good House Installations Inc. That’s exactly what I used to use, I had one that lasted for years and when it went out I have been through three and probably the past six or seven years so I was considering switching
Good House Installations Inc. By the way thank you for your comment and for your feedback OK
The Flooring Coach That was me I had one for probably 15 years or longer
great video
Christian Wilson thank you
I like the crain 945...adjustable rotating cord , with a low profile base which is able to bring the the seam in my opinion closer...like the video goodjob
And easier to seam under doors
Jerrid Hawkins Thank you appreciate your feedback
Jerrid Hawkins I always pull my doors down but I like the idea of a low profile
Hey Ruben great video man. If you ever get a chance could you do a video of, when your laying vinyl plank or lvp in a situation where their is a living room, dining room , Hall and kitchen all together. How to figure out what size piece to start with so you don't end up with like a 1 inch rip on your last row. Hope that makes sense to you. Thanks✌
Matt Williams Yeah that makes sense, and I sure will, thank you for the recommendation
I have the blue Roberts cool shield iron, seems pretty good. Do a video on sewn bullnoses
Alex Look I have never sewn carpet 🙁,sorry
Thanks
jerry green You’re welcome buddy
How about a room 24 feet wide by 40 feet long with 2 pillars about 8 feet off each end been really racking my brain on how to do it
You’ll take the same steps as shown in this video, and if the pillars are only 8 feet from the end of the room I would probably just run a seam lengthways behind the pole to the wall so that you can get a good row cut Do not have to make any cross cut in your carpet
1st video i have watch and tried it immediately and OMG i shocked myself and everyone. Q: IF I DONT HAVE THE IRON THINGY HOW CAN I KEEP THE RUG IN TACK OMG I CANT EVEN SEE THE CUT TYTYTYTYTYTYTYTYTY
Sometimes you might need to 4-way stretch to keep everything centered.
How to tack strip around cast iron radiator and finish the carpet around it
CarpetGuy 1970 Perfect,, as soon as I see one I will definitely do it
How about a video on stuff you struggle with , besides tile ect.
Floored Well I don’t do tile, and everything I do I have been doing for many years so I don’t really struggle, every now and again I get a head scratcher But that’s about it, I hope you don’t take this the wrong way I’m not at all trying to be arrogant
@@FloorsbySouthernboys fair enough!
Floored Thanks for being understanding and not taking that the wrong way
How come you don't use a loop pile cutter when making seams over pad?
Lionel Hall This cushion back cutter is much easier to use in my opinion, it’s just what I’ve gotten used to so I use this on all of my seams
The Kool glide iron is my favorite. Been using it for years!
shawn moore Thank you, appreciate your feedback Shawn , I expect quite a few people will say that, I’m still behind times when it comes to seaming
I'm gunna be recarpetting my girlfriends parents basement when the warmer weather finally shows up. It's the basement level of the house over concrete, I was wondering what you do for prep underneath the carpet and pad. I noticed that the table legs and other things in contact with the floor seemed to look damp in the humid days of our wisconsin summer. I assumed it was the concrete sweating and the moisture soaking up through the pad and carpet into things set on it. would it be a viable option to just put down a plastic vapor barrier sheeting under the pad to keep it from coming up through? if so what would be the preferred thickness? I've done a little research and found the proper way was to also add a layer of plywood over the floor but they're not looking to spend that much nor am I looking to do that much work for free. thanks
Kyle Walker not ever really dealt with this before, someone else could probably give you more accurate feedback, however I would probably use a roofing felt paper instead of plastic, but either way there will always be a chance of mold forming or moisture gets trapped, sorry I couldn’t be of more help
@@FloorsbySouthernboys shoot. well I'll keep an ear and an eye open for more info on it, it'll be a few months before it happens. thanks for the reply
Kyle Walker You’re welcome, sorry I wasn’t more help, however I would discourage putting plastic under the carpet just for the sake of here in the Cracklin as you want, felt paper would be quiet, good luck buddy
your stretch on your last wall should be straight or a slight angle per cri and crain diagrams.
Stephen Boyd Yes sir, I always have my stretchers at a slight angle toward the corner I am stretching to
How do I clean latex seam sealer off a glue down seam
jerry green That is a good one, I have never encountered that, latex never hardens so if it’s not too bad not be able to pick it off like a rubbery substance, it’s kind of hard to tell without seeing it, However I would be extremely cautious about putting chemicals on it to remove it because it is a seam, wish I Could help you more
Ooooohh what kind of pole
Straight men get it
King Tin 😮It’s only a piece of PVC that I glued to the floor Specifically for the video
Your great installer fir sure but I dnt cut carpet through the poles I cut the seams back to the poles and seam it there to avoid that cross t seam
