I have sung this song in three languages, Russian, Romania, and English, with the Oregon Adventist Men's Chorus.

I sang this with Wayne State University Men's Glee Club (Detroit) in 1959-61. The dynamic perfection and precision of this choir is amazing and brings tears. Thank you!

Why is this always translated into the passive voice? The verb is perfect active: "Thou hast fashioned salvation in the midst of the earth, o God. Alleluia."

This is one of the most beautiful things I've heard in awhile. Absolutely rich in tone, sensitive conducting, beautiful diction, the works.

I sang this piece with The Turtle Creek Chorale in Dallas. One of my favorites. Absolutely stunning.

Thanks Rob! It's good to know that this wonderful piece is being sung all over the place. It's one of our favourites as well.

I heard this haunting piece for the first time when I bought the Turtle Creek CD "Postcards" 20 years ago

Wow! I'm not one to be easily impressed, but this gave me goosebumps! The fluidity and synchrony of emotion and dynamics was incredible! I would have loved to have seen this live.

I remember on July 2012 our concert together in Forni di Sopra (UD), 3 hours of music from Chor Leoni and Coro Polifonico di Ruda. It was an incredible evening of men choral music! And i remember Mrs Loomer, she was an incredible conductor. Hope to sing together again in the future in Italy or in Canada...

    Hi Mark,
Thank you! Chor Leoni has sung this work for many years and have performed it on all of our tours, but this church in Venice was quite possibly the best!
Yes, this score is available through Musica Russica, catalogue # MRSM Cn 176 MC. Your guys will love it.

We sure are :) There's something about hitting those low notes with others and feeling everything shake.

What a pleasant surprise to hear those low notes in that space! A fitting tribute to Madam Loomer!

I appreciate the men's arrangement. However, the breath-associated breaks in composed, logical, and to my knowledge composer-intended phrasing I find irksome and distracting. I wish this choir had been challenged to respect Chesnokov's phrasing and exercise breath control and staggered breathing (for those who need to do it) to allow the vocal section continuity of sound for the aforementioned phrasing.

A little bit loose, there are better versions. But nice try! 🤷🏻‍♂️
