It's not that hard to do better than Disney - they've reached quite a bottom. That's not to say what the fans are doing deserves any less respect, though. Quite the opposite. To be fair, I'm sure a lot of people at Disney's SW division do care about the franchise but they still end up making crap due to being told to do so by their higher ups. Like Kathleen Kennedy, who would put all kinds of muppets in leading positions (directors, writers, etc.) just to satisfy some agenda, play on nostalgic feelings and cater to certain groups. But at the end of the day, do you really need Disney to put in effort when the fans make stuff THIS good? I really don't care personally, because no matter how well or badly done a fan film is, you know was made with actual passion for Star Wars that only independent people outside the influence of big corporations could maintain.
Yes, this is good. From the opening scene, the cinematography set the tone and the mood. The view from perspective at lakeside. The evening fire burning as we see a person approaching..prefect.
Great work!!! I really enjoyed this this. Loved the Oahu locations as they are such are great fit for a SW story. I also like the additions of the Pete’s Pirate Life swag. Subscribed.
Looks great! Would love to see more. One small request, (well two) closed captioning would be great for us folks listening on phones when we are supposed to be working and cant turn volume uo... and slow down the title scrolling sequence a bit or steeping the angle as it goes up so those of us on phones, with older eyes can read it easier. Other than that I'm an instant fan! Live the idea ,the cast, photography, especially love the story! Most people forget there has to be a great story a d not just bigger explosions a d gorier gore to make a great show, a d you've got something here! Keep it up!!
Hey Drew, Jonas, Allison, Jake, Strat, Justin and Austin - Thank your for that great masterpiece. Highly appreciate your work. Can i ask you which camera u used and if you come out of the media business?
this is quite the fan film I would to learn more about the characters in a part two maybe or within a bigger project that I'm planning on doing with other creators too :)
Hey Drew so well done wow!!!! AMAZING! What did you edit your lightsabers in??? After effects??? Best looking lightsabers I've ever seen in a fan film.... like top notch hollywood stuff my man. Well done!
This is amazing 👏 I'm trying to make my own. Any tips for a newcomer to how to make a Star Wars film? Also, could you do a tutorial how you did the lightsabers?
Dear DL Creative, I'm tell you the truth. I'm deaf, but where's CC on the RUclips? I know you're surprised me. I hope you're read my text. The Force be with you.
honestly needs a bit more refinement. You cant just add light sabers to a script and call it fan. What makes cinematography different for SW? Study the wipes. Timing. Depth of field is all wrong, the sequences too long. Script needs a bit. Audio needs well layering will help tremendously here. I don't know your history and background and I am comparing it to iconic work so I give this a 4/10 as it is far better than most. Watch the films again and try to see the essence. Without the light sabers this looks just a vacation movie with 2 dudes, a fallout shelter with some candles, and some fishing line. However, if this is your first film kudos, you can only go up from here. I do encourage you to make more and find your own style. You do have skills that need to be developed. Slow down the camera. Find better points of camera views, eye level is not always best. The drone shot was interesting but did not flow from previous to next scene. Experiment with emotion in the scene based on camera position and audio comp. Everything is coming from your cast, they must flow with the environment. The NPC are the candles, have the dude move one to show the dance or wind from the door opening blows a few out. Muted lighting. Remember its 4 dimensions not 2. Your almost there but just short. Remember you're on another planet were everything is most likely covered in dust and rust. Certainly not vibrant. Slow the lines, deliberate and lost is the key. Good luck!
Yeahh man another fan movie its allways exciting to see one of them
TOP FREAKING NOTCH MAN!! That lightsaber battle looked like it was straight out of a feature film!
Haha thank so much man! What a journey it was to get the fight to where it ended up.
This definitely has some potential and is already far above many of the other SW short films out there. Can’t wait for part 2 to expand the story!
Just epic!!!!!
Seriously almost all of the fan projects are 100 times better then any film Disney does

Can i ask you which camera u used and if you come out of the media business?
We shot everything on the Canon R5 and the last scene on a Black Magic
this is quite the fan film I would to learn more about the characters in a part two maybe or within a bigger project that I'm planning on doing with other creators too :)
The camera work, visuals and lightsaber choreography better than that we’ve seen of recent Disney Star Wars content
Hey Drew so well done wow!!!! AMAZING! What did you edit your lightsabers in??? After effects??? Best looking lightsabers I've ever seen in a fan film.... like top notch hollywood stuff my man. Well done!

go to see the fan film “the hunt”
Geez, you Star Wars junkies are the worst. A masterpiece? Why, because it had lightsabers? Bad dialogue, bad acting, and a pointless plot.
