My favorite part of Gabon was the fact that Sugar was sent to exile island from the get-go and kept being sent there because no one wanted to deal with her. But she was the only one to experience exile, so while the others thought she was roughing it, she had a nice lil setup with a hammock and fresh fruit and a shelter that was literally a legitimate hut, and she just kind of had a vacation and then every few days would be plopped back into the game and ppl would try to use her as a number but she didn’t really know what was actually going on so she basically just picked as if by coin flip and voted that way, only to be sent back to her nice little personal resort. The rest of them were already such a mess without her, she became my favorite of the season and has remained a favorite of mine to this day.

Gabon was one of the best seasons ever. It gave viewers the opportunity to see our chaos-gremlin selves represented on tv. Most seasons just have one or two beautiful space cadets. Gabon gave us an entire spectrum of Lil Morrises and it was magical. I want less “Wow, that guy is smart and hot and good at challenges plus he randomly knows how to cut bamboo and do spear fishing” and more “oh no, I don’t think that lady’s gonna make it up that hill.”
I loved Gabon Dysfunctionally great I loved that Bob won He and his wife were real. I think he went out with no expectations of lasting long, to only be on a grand adventure, but half way through, he looked around him and thought "I really could win"
A detail about Casaya that I love: They picked that tribe themselves! Highlights include Boston-native Danielle picking "the cool guy with the Boston tattoo" Shane (Shane's from Nebraska; the tattoo is his son's name), and Shane being the one to pick Courtney.

At one point on Fong, I belive Matty and Ace form an alliance on the basis of "please god does someone have a plan." Only for that plan to be rely on Sugar's idol. Im praying for the day we get another trainwreck of a season like that again.
Watch Australian Survivor: Titans vs. Rebels airing rn. It's been a glorious train wreck so far. I love it so much. But yes I also want another glorious train wreck in American Survivor too.

0:26 the camera usually doesn't shake much on Survivor IIRC so what I love about this shot is that I get the distinct impression the cameraman was just sitting down filming, and then they saw what -Rice Gremlin McGee- Brandon was doing, and they jumped up and ran over because they couldn't believe WTF was happening.
Unironicly, Gabon is one of my favorite seasons. Kenny, Sugar, and were my favorite players this season. And this season gave us one of the best reactions of all time with Matty’s grin.
Gabon is hilarious for many reasons, but it's fun to watch Jeff slowly lose his mind when they do tribe picks and people (even women! can you imagine?) are chosen before his favorite "manly men" contestants. And then those guys get voted out! I think Jeff is at his most misogynistic this season. And how great is it that the last four men standing (if I remember correctly) are Bob (old), Kenny (nerdy), Randy (old) and Matty, who looks like a golden boy but also is just a little bit off (that smile and laugh!). No wonder Jeff hated this season so much. I get a kick out of Sugar.
You can't talk about Dan from World's Apart without mentioning that Jeff brought unedited footage to the Reunion special to prove that Dan was unaware of how much of a jerk he is.
Jeff ruined that reunion, he wasted 10 minutes dunking on Dan, of a 22 minute reunion (the final 10 minutes dedicated to Second Chances), leaving 12 minutes for revealling the winner, interviewing the cast and dunking on Will and Rodney
Gabon is definitely "messy and chaotic" but I think it gets a bad rap. It's messy, but it's also exciting and unpredictable. It has a lot of great characters and Ken in particular is really fun to watch. Fang is certainly not the worst tribe in Survivor history, throwing the idol into the ocean is not as stupid a move as people make it out to be considering the context of the situation, and Sugar is not completely unaware of what's going on around her at all times. Jeff's opinions on the seasons have to be taken with a heaping pile of salt, since his opinions are influenced by things like production woes and how bad the bugs were. Just because he wanted to quit at the time Gabon was happening doesn't mean Gabon made him want to quit and is therefore the worst season ever. I will say, it is one of the worst FTCs I've ever seen, but the rest of the season is really enjoyable.
I think San Juan Del Sur should be on the list. Reasons include: - Val's two idols lie - Hunaphu giving up a reward after losing their flint, then have to give up more rewards when they run out of rice - Drew throws a challenge then gets voted out - Julie quits to be with John Rocker (they don't last) - "Stick to the plan" - Everyone buying Natalie's explanation for the Alec vote - Reid's "evil stepmother" speech
I suppose it adds to the messy chaos, but the whole deal with Hunaphu running out of rice was weird. Mostly because I recall Jeff roasting them over it, even though they had just swapped, and most of the members had nothing to do with it. Like, gameplay-wise, I still think you shouldn't just get more for free if you run out, but I recall him being weirdly judgmental to post-swap Hunaphu for pre-swap Hunaphu's actions.
The thumbnail reminds me of my idea of a returnee season where it is all first boots called Survivor: First Blood. Which would probably be as chaotic as Gabon.
I’m getting out of an abusive relationship and you have no idea how many times things he did to me reminded me of things I saw on “World’s Apart.” That’s how bad it is. Agree with essentially everything about maybe Gabon - the more I watch it, the more I think of Sugar’s game as masterful up until final tribal. But actually we agree pretty much that Sugar ran the game so I enjoyed your analysis! But I don’t think she was like a toddler and I think Susie is underrated. I’d probably put Caramoan up here lol. Otherwise really agree with you and had a lot of good laughs.

Survivor Cagayan is probably my favorite season of survivor, if not the favorite then in the top 5 for sure! The chaos and drama were just so great, and there was so many funny moments and just ludicrous gameplay. I also adored Winners at War for many reasons, but the main one was seeing Tony at work again. He is my favorite Survivor winner of all time, along with Yul!

Funnily enough, Gabon is the only season on this list I haven't seen. I love Nicaragua for how slowly, but obviously Jeff has a mental breakdown throughout the season. From La Fleur's antics entering for challenges, to having to ask if "New York is full of gay people", to the peeing in the pool debate, to the double quit, to impersonating his own mother, and finally, whatever ALLEGEDLY happened with Sash and Jane. It's a fascinating look at a man's psyche.
Australian Survivor: Titans vs. Rebels is only going into its 12th out of 24 episodes rn and I already feel like it needs to be here 🤣🤣🤣 love it though!
IMO Gabon feels like what it would look like if The Koopalings From The Super Mario Bros Series were on Survivor. They are great characters and several RUclipsrs make them funny and chaotic but their Boss fights are really easy and not the best bosses. Just like how these players have massive holes in their game. And I love it!

I really liked Nicaragua. 😂 I liked pulling for legendary coach Jimmy Johnson. My first survivor crush (pandemic survivor fan) Brenda 😍. Also lots of villains to root against and a surprising winner.

Gabon may be the most chaotic season, but it’s by far the funniest season to watch.
Also just a nitpick but I hated how much Marcus’ alliance sucked up to him like he was God, like he would’ve been such a boring and predictable winner, I’m so glad Susie gained control when she did

Gabon was such a trainwreck, but it was so good! The only thing I wish was different was the winner. I feel that one of the other 2 at final 3, despite such a chaotic game, had an actual game.

Wow I didn’t realize how a normal season was because the first two season of survivor I wanted was Survivor Gabon and Survivor Nicaragua…… and I loved it.
I’m looking forward to watching Gabon for Sugar. She seems iconic

He didn't touch all the girls. He touched one girls hair and the other accused him as part of the game. The same girls that said an all male alliance is misogynistic thinks it's perfectly okay to accuse someone of sexual assaulting them falsely.
Worlds apart was the first season i ever watched and didnt know what to expect. Joe and Mike are still 2 of my favorite players

I really liked Nicaragua. 😂 I liked pulling for legendary coach Jimmy Johnson. My first survivor crush (pandemic survivor fan) Brenda 😍. Also lots of villains to root against and a surprising winner.
I actually really enjoy Nicaragua and think it’s really fun, and yes, very messy but I love it
I do too, surprisingly! It was my first full season to watch and i had fabio as my winner pick just because i thought he looked cool and nailed it.
