Neither Nicaragua or Gabon are bad seasons, entertainment-wise. I guess it depends on what you watch reality TV for. If you watch only for gameplay (gag), those seasons were all over the place, but if you watch for drama and mess (like me), they delivered in spades

Yeah, Joel also came to my mind too as an underrated pre-merge player in general, but I wasn't quite sure if I would label him as a villain. After seeing the real entries on this list though, I could definitely see him having been included.

The tribe names are filled with mediocre players, definitely not the players on Mount Rushmore, but that could add to the charm since CBS doesn't want to flop going ALL IN on a proper HvV cast. Why not go tame on the idea, and name the season something else, but split the tribes according to this theme? Could be a good idea considering I think they will never do a HvV season again.

Joel was one of the few surprises of the season for me, as I've never heard a word about him and he was one of the more interesting players in the pre-merge. I wish he lasted at least an episode longer to see more of the Joel VS Ozzy dynamic that was taking place.

I feel like Silas was the bigger pre-merge villain in Africa. He was the clear leader of the youngin’s alliance and was very arrogant and self-satisfied. He was also more strategic than Lindsey and lacks her more sympathetic moments.
I loved her ability to standstill for hours at a time, combined with her ability to complain about how little everyone else is doing. She made her annoyance of people not listening to her very apparent, but was confused why people didn’t want to be around her more.

Ace was definitely irritating, but he did have one redeeming moment that I remember. There's that time that he was giving a confessional that was interrupted by the arrival of an elephant, and suddenly, all he could do was admire the beauty of that elephant. I just thought that that was a nice moment from him.
I would have put Silas over Lindsey. The way he went from trying to play the old and young people, to be extremely cocky and fake, was entertaining to watch. And then he was sent to the other tribe and had no power, where it was fun to watch him scratch and claw while Ethan easily sent him packing
I don't think Silas will make any top 10 lists for the multiple rape charges he has against him. I'd still pick Lindsey though....she was easily the most annoying of the bunch but a good character

He is like the epitome of a pre-merge villain and he doesn't get any kind of mention at all? It's as if I'm the only one who knows that season isn't just the Kim Spradlin show.
Most hilarous thing for me about Ace is his resemblence to my irl friend which have same personailty, really similiar face including baldness and tattoos also he does also photography for living.

If I recall Jimmy T and then Rick from season 23 were each winners of a fan vote for the last person cast in the season. The producers picked 10 audition videos for the fans to vote for who should get on and they won the vote. Jimmy was whiney and Rick was so hard to understand they had to subtitle everything and he barely got any screentime even though he made it to the final 5. That's why you shouldn't let America pick the cast.
