      I've never seen such a wide-eyed QB in my life. Even though the game was close, I was never worried. Goff was a bit off as well, but it was more technical, things he could clean up which he did. Lions are only going to be more healthy and rested, there is no ceiling for them and the confidence level is to the moon. The target is squarely on the Lions backs, and that just gives me the warm and fuzzies as a Lions fan. Bring it!

    • @intrepidfool
      @intrepidfool 2 дня назад +1

      The moment was too big for him. To his credit, he has done a tremendous job fixing his mental state. This issue was common early in his career and the reason he busted out. This season, we’ve seen moments of this from him but never lasting an entire game until this one. I think the big game / playoff pressure might just be too much for whatever mental/emotional work he has done to overcome. Maybe he will make further progress with time, but I hope it isn’t with the Vikings. I want our QB to play their best in the big spots. McCarthy has been stellar in those moments in HS and college and there are a lot of positive indicators that this will continue in the NFL.
      I appreciate Darnold’s efforts but hope we roll with JJ next season.

    First, I actually love the Lions softening up the defense with Montgomery when he plays and giving him carries keeps Gibbs fresher for the playoffs. I loved it when they picked him and even the first year that Dan Campbell was there I was one of the first people to buy in that didn't know Dan Campbell b4 he got the job. After week 6 his first year I was saying that I loved the coaching because they had great gameplans every week and Goff was already doing things that he didnt do with the Rams or better than he did them b4. I am an Eagles fan but part of the reason that I got on the bandwagon was because of the schemes they were running even b4 all the trick plays. I think there arent enough good oc's in the league and I notice when one who I havent heard of shows up. I did think Ryan Grubbs wud do better in Seattle considering how he called plays in Washington tho

The Eagles went 4-0 against AFC North physically dominating those 4 teams in the second half, they dominated the Rams. Other than two droppped passes that seal the game against the Falcons and Commanders they would be sitting at 16-1. #1 defense, best offensive line from tackle to Tackle, this Eagles team will be problems galore for the Lions. I loved the Sam team locker room celebration as it was a great appreciating moment for his ups n downs, per his abused NFL history.
    But.....
    .....the same concern Sirles mentioned about the Lions possibly going flat (early in beginning of video) after their big game result/performance vs. the Vikings, RAN THROUGH my mind immediately after seeing the Viking GB relief celebration. Then "THIS" (lions game).
    On OL matters:
    Maybe the OL coach(es) need to be taken to task for OL play/performance as well????? We need more analysis from Sirles and Boone, as OL is key (& underpaid/unappreciated....etc.) for understanding many of Sam's results/dilemmas. (Talking heads and newbs don't get it; unless they see/hear these guys explain) Keep them coming as I and others are enthusiastically subbing now.
    Just occurred to me:
    Flores preaches/teaches " TEAM/Player COMMUNICATION" for his side of the ball..
    Can't say the same for KOC and his side of the "O", especially when the SHTF like this game. Just Sam getting late or instant feedback? WR's/TE's/OL not included?? Needs change/tweaking.

    KOC views running backs as an accessory rather than a necessity. If the back can pick-up a blitz, he's good for KOC. I think Akers can do it if we commit to running the ball and get serious about setting up the PA. The interior O-Line would likely benefit from not having to set-up for pass blocking all the time.

    If Goff wins a Super Bowl and just plays out his contract with the Lions for the next four years at similar levels of productivity, he’ll absolutely have hall-worthy numbers. No reason he can’t. Much of the core of this Lions team is locked up and just entering its prime. Add being a probowl player with two different teams and taking both to the Super Bowl. And he’ll have a pretty good case. Course he has to win that SB first. So there’s work to do.

    Lions Coverage was great for most of the game. Their defense is going to be good in the playoffs. They aren’t playing a bunch of back ups on defense. Their whole lb and secondary is starters when they are playing Nickle. They have Reader and Zdarius on the Dline. Paschal and Levi are also starters. Im telling y’all their D is going to continue to play good tough football at home. Are they going to Hold teams to 9 points? No, but you’re going to have to score more than 30 on them to win and that will not be easy to do. Espically at Ford Field with the Crown Noise.

    This was a frustrating loss for sure. With all the "it's just another game" chat coming out of the Vikings, i genuinely think that they didn't want to go all in, then still lose after a huge effort and creating a big emotional loss.
    Don't get me wrong, the players are still going to be frustrated and beaten up, but I think KOC in particular didn't want to put anything on tape that they haven't already.
    Hopefully it pays off, I'd have preferred they go all in and put it all out there. Remember last time they went on a bye they lost 2 on the bounce.

    My effort post on the game.....I rewatched the whole game myself earlier and a few things I took from the game. 1. Blake Brendel played worse than Ed Ingrams worst game. He was rough to watch. Its too late to make a move now, but Id consider finding a replacement for next year. I haven't watched all the games this deep personally, but he played really bad. He had weird splits all game and was on the ground continuously. He should feel embarrassed to put that on tape. He personally wrecked too many plays to be a viable starter at Guard. Something needs to give on the interior line in general. 2.The Lions decided early and never looked back that they were not going to respect play action at all on 2nd or 3rd down. The LB's weren't biting down at all and were only watching their man. It was egregious. KOC NEEDS to run the ball when that is happening. If you rewatch the huge run from Akers, that's exactly what happened. The LB's and safeties followed their man with their eyes not even watching the backfield and it broke. That should have happened more often. The Lions were doing it the whole game and the PA was only making the play take longer to develop giving their rushers more time to get to Sam and the Lions got away with cheating it all game. Frustrating that there was no adjustment. 3. KOC NEEDS to trust his run game more in general. The run was working all game. KOC kept moving away from it which was frustrating especially in the deep red. 4. WAY too many missed open targets. I'm not even talking about all the inaccurate throws. That was its own thing. Sam missed open targets in big spots too many times. The pressure didn't help, but there were also times he had time and the throw was there and he just missed it. The most egregious example was probably the biggest drive of the game where Akers just had the huge run into the 5. The 4th down play on the right side it was clear that was where the play was supposed to go and Sam just missed it. He was looking right at Addison coming inside off the great legal pick Speedy put on and was WIDE open. Sam looked it off, had all kids of time for when the second WIDE open player flashed across the middle of the field which he was looking right at also. Speedy came back across the middle on a zig, and was open for even longer than Addison was earlier in the play. It was frustrating to watch and if they get that TD there that game is changed in my opinion. Even with all the earlier failures. Missing there gave the Lions even more confidence and they were able to pin their ears back the rest of the game. 5. The defense played fine. Nobody expected them to completely stop the Lions all game and they got the offense two extra opportunities, one of them being inside the seven yard line. You cant ask for much more from your D against the best offense in the league and if you give the Vikings D a lead to play with, it puts more pressure on the Lions and things could have been different. All in all I hope they get to play in Detroit again cause they should be able to beat them if they don't mess up so much. They should want a rematch in my opinion and shouldn't be afraid of going there again. If Sam or the offense plays like that again, they shouldn't expect to beat anyone in the playoffs or not. There are teams that aren't in the playoffs that play better offense than that. I think these things can be cleaned up and expect the good coaches the Vikings have to do that. I still have faith, but the margin of error is much slimmer now. RANT OVER. SKOL!!

I love KOC but he has a couple MAJOR flaws and his insistence on throwing the ball down the field even when the other team has taken that away is one of them. He's to stubborn to accept that the other team took away what he wanted to do and that he's just going to have to do something different. Seems like he keeps trying to push a square peg into a round hole

      Set Protection up for the Hot Read- Run the Right End down the Seam- to do this you have to have wide receivers willing to take on a rusher bigger than them and slow down their Progress@@WackoMac

      I have always thought that the Vikings need to improve both sides of the lines, particularly the O-line! Bradbury has never done a satisfactory job as center, and this job is a prime example. It all begins and ends in the trenches!

    I want to say the defense did their job, everyone is blaming Sam, it is KOC and the rest of the offense who failed really. Remember he got the ball to JJ twice who failed to come down with it and he hit hock in the hands and Addison... The one thing everyone asked was hey Sam do not BSOD and throw pick 6s... Which he did not do...he should have thrown some balls away faster to not get hit but KOC did not change the plays to get the balls out faster or slants/screens even delayed runs or draws...anything also when Akers got that big run they should have just stuck with him...

    Yeah, this was a big game, no doubt, but the biggest game, the defining game of the Campbell/Holmes era was back in 2022. Beating the Packers, in Greenbay, with “nothing” at stake for Detroit, in the last game of the season. Humiliating Aaron Rodgers and keeping the Packers out of the playoffs, AND making Detroit 9 - 8 and getting into second place in the North.
    The Lions never play meaningless games. They proved that again in 2024.

    • @rob_shadows6846
      @rob_shadows6846 День назад

      Well the Lions plays they highlighted were all runs and PI can't exist on a run play, can't have pass interference without a pass. On a run a WR can engage anyone at any time and it's fine. Engage at the snap, take them out of the play downfield, doesn't matter as long as it's a legal block (no block in the back, don't hold, etc...)

    How as fans can we not be mad about the refs taking a safety off the board and making the wrong call. All scores are reviewed a safety is score. The refs directly affected the momentum. The correct call was to call it a safety so it got reviewed. They knew we couldn’t challenge it when they picked the flag up. This shouldn’t happen in a game with so much on the line and lives an opening for Refs and the NFL to rig games and get away with it. We can’t change the lose. I wanted to walk away losing or Winning fair and square!

      @ one the road a safety shuts the crowd up and comes down your offense. I didn’t expect them to win I just wanted to walk away felling we either lost or won without refs making mistakes. We did better than expected . I don’t want it to happen again to any team. Things like this leaves open the door to rig games. Ask your self what team winning the Super Bowl would bring the most cash flow into the NFL? The Chiefs why because Taylor swift billions. When they do something like this so the chiefs win it how you going to feel?

    • @RobertNelson-i5y
      @RobertNelson-i5y 2 дня назад +1

      @ a penalty accrued in the end zone. That should have resulted in a safety but the refs screwed up on the play. A safety on the road makes a crowd go silent and an offense tends to settle down. It actually could be rigged if you think about. We can’t change the outcome of this game but we can make sure it doesn’t happen again. NFL Fans are the only ones keeping them honest!
