Each of PTX is insanely talented, yet somehow they remain humble people and show no egos when putting their music together. Unicorns all. And I love them
Ha , one of the first things I noticed when I first saw this was his studio setup, then it was him drumming out his own beatbox, then it was the distortion on the electric cello. Kevin is a beast! By the way Olusola is pronounced Oh-Loo-Sho-La, Nigerian name.
Great reaction! Kevin is an amazing human being. He is incredibly sweet, funny, smart (Pre-Med @ Yale, speaks fluent Mandarin) and humble. When you add in his immense amount of musical talent, I sometimes wonder if he is all human. Lol. Besides cello and piano, he also plays Sax. When he was 17 he played the Sax at Carnegie Hall. You should definitely check his cover of Harry Styles "Sign of the Times". Another one of my favs is Bach's "Prelude" where he plays cello and beatboxes at the same time. It's pretty mind-blowing!
That's my fav MV of his!!! I love Kevin like he was my own son. Just adore all of the Ptx members like they're my kids, but I have a real fondness for Kev. He is absolutely my favorite! 💜
Here's a vid of Kevin, at 17, playing Sax at Carnegie Hall. He speaks English, Spanish and Mandarin. Invented celloboxing while he was on an assignment in China. He has a music degree from Berklee, and completed pre-med at Yale. Was persuaded to join Pentatonix in 2011, right before they appeared on The Sing-Off (each group was required to have at least five members). So, he's never actually gotten around to attending med school. Maybe someday. ruclips.net/video/cg-WQl3YCVY/видео.html
Kevin never actually went to Berklee. He started at Yale as a music major, but switched to Asian Studies. Then when he started cello boxing he decided to do musical school instead of continuing his medical studies and applied to Berklee, but Pentatonix recruited him right after he graduated from Yale.
Thank you for reacting to Kevin's awesome performance video. Glad that you liked it. Kevin is a genius. Everything on his RUclips channel is amazing. Please react to more of Kevin's music. Please react to "Sign Of The Times", "Stay With Me" and his original "Renegade". Kevin has written or co-written some of my favorite Pentatonix original songs. He's great at arranging too.
Loved the reaction! I read in another article Kevin actually has perfect pitch which from what I read is not that common. Go figure lol he’s a musical prodigy.
KEVIN IS SO TALENTED. NOT JUST HIS VOICE BUT THE INSTRUMENTS HE CAN PLAY. I ESPECIALLY LOVE LISTENING TO THE CELLO WHEN HE PLAYS IN "SHALLOW" AND "SAY SOMETHING". SO BEAUTIFUL. ENJOY YOUR REACTION, AGAIN. LOOKING FORWARD TO YOUR NEXT GH REACTION.BILLY BOY.
Lol! This is my fav song to watch ppl react to, coz no one ever expects this!!! He also plays sax & there is a yt vid of him playing sax at Carnegie Hall when he was 17. You should really check that out!!!
I think you would love their new mini video on the. “ making of their newest Album Evergreen”. It’s a behind the scenes look at their process. I loved it. You could react to it. play it for us all
Loved your reaction! Yes Kevin is a musical beast and I'm so happy you're getting around to his solo work! My favorite is FRIENDS but he has several that are so good!
Love how talented KO is always amazing, and so humble and kind. Avi Kaplan released an album in May Floating in a Dream and it is wonderful! Would love to hear what you think, all 11 tracks are amazing not a bad one in the batch.
I am absolutely embarrassed that as a huge PTX fan, that this is my first time listening to KO solo. What a talent!!! I can’t help thinking how fortunate WE all are that THEY (PTX) found each other!!! I recall an interview where he said that it was a very “interesting” conversation he had with his parents when he informed them that he was dropping out of med school to join an accappela group…every parents dream, lol! BUT, absolutely the right call!!!
Cello: Carnegie Hall Alto sax: Carnegie Hall Fluent in Mandarin Represented QUINCY JONES at the Montreux Jazz Festival Degree from Yale University Accepted to Harvard medical school So much more! - read his wiki
Phil Keaggy is another artist who has perfect pitch and perfect time. Equipped with nothing but an acoustic guitar he can sample percussion, harmonies, backing vocals and sound like a 5 piece band and loop it all while he flawlessly performs the song. Phil is pushing 70, Kevin might be the heir to the throne.
I simply loved your reaction! It's exactly how I felt the first time I heard this. Of course, for a guy who has played Carnegie Hall. Just a small point for your long-term English usage, which is already outstanding, in English "cello" is pronounced "chello". Loved your outro. Made me smile.
I know this is an old video so not sure you'll see the comment, but his headphones are plugged in. You can see the chord between his legs on his first beatbox part and probably on some other parts. I believe its probably with an extension on a track system to give him the freedom of movement without getting tangled.
I don't know if they are live anymore (as RUclips links are especially prone to linkrot) but there are videos out there showing that Avi and (especially) Scott are just as prone as you to getting tongue-tied. The difference is that you are doing it in a second language.😉
Each of PTX is insanely talented, yet somehow they remain humble people and show no egos when putting their music together.
Unicorns all. And I love them
Ever time I watch his Down arrangement, I don’t want it to end. I just want him to keep adding elements to it. Mind blowing.

The LOO is the accented syllable.

Renegade really shows off Kevin's celloboxing skills. It's a gorgeous work of art!

I absolutely love Renegade by Kevin ❤

@@ruth2141 Okay. Some online references say he graduated from Berklee. But I did kinda wonder how that could all fit into the timeline.
@@DougRayPhillips It was Matt who graduated from Berklee. While there, Matt was part of the renowned college a cappella group, Pitch Slapped.
@@vidsorama2 Matt Sallee? Okay. I could see how folks might ox that up.
It's Berkeley.
i love watching people watch ko for the first time! its amazing!

Yeah Kevin is a true musician.
Sign of the Times cover by Kevin Olusola
He's literally a genius!
KO is so freaking talented & sweet! 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
Accent is on the second syllable O-LUS-ola. Kevin is the Renaissance man - cello, saxophone, piano, beatboxer extraordinaire, tenor.
He is so talent but what I enjoy the best is that he is having so much fun playing the cello, he looks so happy!
Kevin is AWESOME!!!
Your bloopers… 😆
So great to share your discovery of Kevin's outstanding talents with you. He is definitely multi-talented!

Enjoyed it. Love your reaction

This Is Epic!! He is so amazingly multi-talented.! And you get a great sample of his voice range in this one! Thanks for a great reaction!
Amazing!!!
You should react to “Renegade” where he does cello boxing- incredible!
Yeah. I've found that time spent poking around KO's RUclips channel is time well spent. Take care all.
I love your reactions. I hope you react to “Sign of the Times”.

Ladies and gentlemen, the great Kevin Olusola. Peace from Ohio …
KO is definitely THE musician of the group (not throwing any shade on anyone else, just stating a fact).
They agree. They've said they can always rely on him for their note because he has perfect pitch.
Check renegade next, it’s his original…
Along with the other songs people have recommended, I recommend his covers of Don't Dream It's Over and Human Nature. :)
You must check out KO “Renegade”
Kevin is the beatboxer for Pentatonix
Awesome reaction, I love his Harry Styles "Sign of the Times" cover. You should check it out.❤
Renegade!!
His name is promounced Oh-Loosh-uhla.

Kevin is amazing. I would like you to react to his cover of "sign of the times (Harry Styles). Thanks
They have lots of new music out. Check out "The Lucky Ones (there original songs) and Evergreen (Christmas CD)", you won't be disappointed. 😊
