I like Little Big Sprouted Whole Grain Bread made by Silver Hills Bakery out of British Columbia, Canada. Two slices have only 110 calories and 18 carbs. Works well for my type 2 diabetes. I buy it at Whole Foods.

I have always loved Ezekiel bread as an option. My middle little has ulcerative colitis. And when she was little ( she is 21 now) we really tried to be careful with what she ate. Regular bread was a no go. And there werent a lot of good options back then. But ive been eating the base culture since you first started talking about it. And i love it! I dont eat any bread often. But sometimes I serve bread with dinner, and ill usually pull a slice of base culture out for me so that i can enjoy something too. Ive tried the outer bounds or whatever its called. Its fine flavor wise. Not great, not bad. Just fine. But mine always falls apart. Not sure what im doing wrong.

We make bread at home with flour from Sunrise Flour Mill. It’s heritage wheat and milled so it still has the fiber and nutrients. I had gone without bread for many years before discovering them. My gut can’t tolerate stuff from the store.

I haven't really eaten bread since the '80s but for my husband I buy Ezekiel bread and he really likes that. It's pretty terrible unless you toast it (cardboard) but once you toast it it's great.

I would recommend looking into bread made with wheat berries versus using flour stripped of it’s nutrients that cause glycemic levels to spike which is what is sold in stores and used in pre-made breads. Azure Standard is an affordable source. There are so many health benefits….it’s overwhelming to list here. There are also many options of what type to buy to suit your health needs. Sue Becker of BreadBeckers is an excellent source to begin the info journey. I know many people don’t want to make their own bread but you have more ability to eat healthy bread when you can mill your grain. Just food for thought for those who love bread and want to be healthy at the same time. Milled grain changed my life and family…..for the better!

What is the meaning of the term carb sensitive? I have noticed this term used a lot, and I'm a little unclear as to what you mean specifically by it. Isn't everyone carb sensitive? If you are not insulin resistant, you release insulin in response to carbohydrates. If you are insulin resistant, you release even more insulin in response to carbohydrates, unless you are one of the very few people whose beta cells are exhausted. If you have diabetes type 1, and your beta cells are dysfunctional, then you are exquisitely carved sensitive I would argue since you have a very high risk of becoming hyperglycemic very easily. This is not a rhetorical question and I honestly wish to know why the term carb sensitive is being used instead of the term insulin resistant, which is really the root of the problem and a more scientific way to emphasize the importance of a low-carb diet. Looking forward to hearing your response.
