Do you consider Dave's Killer Bread healthy? I know they add a little bit of sugar, but most of the ingredients are great. My family loves it. Eziekiel was too dry for us. Love your content. :)
I like Little Big Sprouted Whole Grain Bread made by Silver Hills Bakery out of British Columbia, Canada. Two slices have only 110 calories and 18 carbs. Works well for my type 2 diabetes. I buy it at Whole Foods.
The active time needed to make sourdough bread isn’t very long. It's simple once you get the hang of it. I use fresh milled organic grain from local sources.
I have always loved Ezekiel bread as an option. My middle little has ulcerative colitis. And when she was little ( she is 21 now) we really tried to be careful with what she ate. Regular bread was a no go. And there werent a lot of good options back then. But ive been eating the base culture since you first started talking about it. And i love it! I dont eat any bread often. But sometimes I serve bread with dinner, and ill usually pull a slice of base culture out for me so that i can enjoy something too. Ive tried the outer bounds or whatever its called. Its fine flavor wise. Not great, not bad. Just fine. But mine always falls apart. Not sure what im doing wrong.
We make bread at home with flour from Sunrise Flour Mill. It’s heritage wheat and milled so it still has the fiber and nutrients. I had gone without bread for many years before discovering them. My gut can’t tolerate stuff from the store.
I haven't really eaten bread since the '80s but for my husband I buy Ezekiel bread and he really likes that. It's pretty terrible unless you toast it (cardboard) but once you toast it it's great.
Thank you - Bread, especially coming into the Fall is such a craving! Btw, I started early on the Oct challenge & loving all your recipes. You have inspired one grandma to build some muscle!
I would recommend looking into bread made with wheat berries versus using flour stripped of it’s nutrients that cause glycemic levels to spike which is what is sold in stores and used in pre-made breads. Azure Standard is an affordable source. There are so many health benefits….it’s overwhelming to list here. There are also many options of what type to buy to suit your health needs. Sue Becker of BreadBeckers is an excellent source to begin the info journey. I know many people don’t want to make their own bread but you have more ability to eat healthy bread when you can mill your grain. Just food for thought for those who love bread and want to be healthy at the same time. Milled grain changed my life and family…..for the better!
I cut bread mostly out until I had to tighten the budget again. Bread becomes pretty necessary when there's not much money for food and you have a family to feed. At least I can make sourdough these days. At least one of the kids will eat it.
I eat baguettes, other purely white bread, with olive oil or butter. A LOT OF olive oil and butter. Sure, if I overate all the time, that would be bad, but I will keep enjoying my bread with oils or butter (water, salt - simple white bread like baguettes.
Autumn, have you heard of the brand HERO bread? They make breads, rolls, tortillas, etc. that use clean ingredients and are low carb and high protein. I’d love to know your thoughts on this brand! It’s delish :)
I have been eating the Hero breads and loving them. They taste really good and the ingredients seem to be pretty good too. Honestly this bread is how I get e Pugh fiber in because though I eat plenty of veggies, not enough to get to 30 g fiber so this bread helps with that goal 😊
Still eating bread, but I miss intermittent fasting! My baby is two months old now and my sleep schedule is still -- not at all scheduled lol. No leptin for me. I can't wait to start getting 6 hours of sleep in a row again and stop feeling hungry all the time.
Autumn, great info - thanks! Have you looked into Kamut bread? My daughter buys Kamut flour sometimes and makes bread and it’s delicious! Expensive, though.
I pretty much already gave up bread, but I keep missing it not primarily for the taste but because it's so damn convenient. Quick snack or a snack to go that feels more satisfying than just an apple or banana or whatever, just make a bread/sandwich.
Thanks for the info! Ive been using the Siete chickpea flour tortillas. But looking at the ingredients, it has cassava and tapioca flour in it too. :/ Do you know of a good alt tortilla?
You made me think of trying to make sprouted oatmeal bread. Until summer arrived, I was making sourdough bread in the bread machine, but allowed the natural starter to go bad. I will start again with this new idea.
My husband and I buy the Arnold keto buns from Walmart. They're not the greatest but good when you need something. We also toast them for garlic bread, meatball sandwiches, etc.
@@g.ajemian4968 I think she mentioned these low carb, keto options. She said that they are good because the glycemic index is low, but the ingredients themselves are not really nutritive so best to avoid them. I do use them myself when I'm in a pinch.
What is the meaning of the term carb sensitive? I have noticed this term used a lot, and I'm a little unclear as to what you mean specifically by it. Isn't everyone carb sensitive? If you are not insulin resistant, you release insulin in response to carbohydrates. If you are insulin resistant, you release even more insulin in response to carbohydrates, unless you are one of the very few people whose beta cells are exhausted. If you have diabetes type 1, and your beta cells are dysfunctional, then you are exquisitely carved sensitive I would argue since you have a very high risk of becoming hyperglycemic very easily. This is not a rhetorical question and I honestly wish to know why the term carb sensitive is being used instead of the term insulin resistant, which is really the root of the problem and a more scientific way to emphasize the importance of a low-carb diet. Looking forward to hearing your response.

Excellent choice 💯.. I live here too

Hmmm would you mind sharing the recipe? This is what I want to do. Homemade is always best. Thank you Autumn for sharing this great information.

Hero brand. BEST on the market right now.
Great video. So much information. I love to see Sage in your videos. You make a great team, so much ❤️. Thank you for the video 🥰🇨🇦.
Thanks Guylaine ❤️
So happy to have this info!!😊
I'm not a big fan white or any sandwich bread anyway. But I do like a half bagel once in a while, so I'll put cream cheese on it for some protein.

Have you heard of Royo? I get 38 grams of fiber from one bagel plus 10.grams of protein ❤
I have started making my own sourdough, using 3 ingredients.
Can I have the ingredients
@@slopez1901 sorry it’s actually 4 ingredients, sourdough starter, AP flour (whole wheat), water and sea salt.

14 months!!🤯
How do you feel about Egglife wraps? We love them.
I'd love to see a follow up covering, wraps, pittas, naan bread with other alternative like the lettuce shown in this video
What about a gluten free 7 grain bread by cannon? Being gluten and dairy free is a challenge. Thank you for sharing ❤
Three Bakers has a gf sourdough one you can try.
Egglife wraps are nice too
🌞 I don't eat bread...
...does French Toast count?
Thanks, Autumn! ⚘️
Cheers! ☕️🕊💙✨️♥️
I love 🍞 thanks for the great video 👍🙌👍
I’m lucky to be able to buy bread that has just three ingredients….flour, water & salt.
So nice!
Is freezing and then defrosting the bread prior to eating healthier in terms of bringing its carbs down?
I don't know why but I enjoy food more when I can have it in the form of a sandwich. Thanks for the information. 😊
Curious if there are any naturally fermented sourdough breads that are commercially sold? Or is the only option small bakeries or making it yourself?
@@rosiedowney3887 Yep, you'd have to make it yourself or source locally from microbakers.
I like Ezekiel bread it's amazing
Love the Ezekiel English muffins!

Ive gained a stone by 20 weeks of pregnancy, what should i do? 😩
I struggle with not having hot dog and burger buns. Any good hacks for that? (I don’t get along with iceberg lettuce so can’t try that tip)

How about wraps that match carbs and dietary fiber to make 0 net carbs?

I eat keto bread

Sugar in bread is cake 😄
What are anti nutrients?
Things in food that block absorption of nutrients, such as phytic acid.
Basically poisons in almost every vegetable, grain, fruit.
