😮 enjoyed the hunt thank you very much Can't git out myself and hunt I'm on oxygen 24/7 hunted a lot before working as a auto tech and smoking when younger caught up to me , thanks again , i watch hunting on my phone , while working out on my treadmill Trying to live a little bit longer , 😊😊😊😊
Thanks for sharing Eric as always a joy to see your dogs work so hard and really looking forward to seeing how the pups have come on rigs sure to do well and I hope cc going to be in the mix to happy hunting from Ireland 🇮🇪
I’m taking my gsp/lab mix to Montana for the opener this weekend. It’ll be both of our first time hunting any of the grouse or partridge species up there. Super pumped for it👊
Hey Eric, I missed your videos! As always, awesome job man.👍🏻. This really helped scratch my itch for nird season😉… can’t wait for your new videos Sir.
@@ericforrester1Hi Eric, I was wondering which resolution & FPS settings you use on your Gopro? It looks great and so does the slow-mo. I just got my first one after seeing how great your hunts turn out!
Awesome to see some new content. Have been chasing grouse for years in Michigan without a dog. This will be my first year with a dog, an English pointer named Arlo!
As a Montana native and a bird hunter I appreciate the quality of the upland hunting that is available to me...unfortunately my experience with many non-resident hunters leaves much to be desired...it seems that killing a limit is more important than the quality of the experience...my father in law removed his rather large ranch/farm in NE Montana from the Block Management program largely due to being overrun with seemingly greedy non-resident hunters...if you ask him for permission to hunt he often times will grant it but if you show up with 8 dogs and semi-automatic shotguns you will not get access...this past year in the state legislature SB 388 was designed to limit non-resident hunters to a certain extent...that said, the bill failed in the House but rest assured it will be back in the next legislative session and the Montana resident bird hunters will be better prepared to see some type of legislation passed to limit non-residents...I understand how important the non-resident bird hunter are to many of the communities in Montana--they undoubtedly spend more in the local community than the residents do...I also understand bird management and population dynamics--game birds can't be put in "bank" for next year but killing every bird in a family flock is short sighted at best...take one bird and move on...
Heaven forbid someone has a semi automatic shotgun 😮. Lol. I drove over from Washington to Montana a couple years ago to buy a 28 gauge Remington 11-48 skeet grade shotgun. So you can thank me for ridding Montana of one of those darn late 1950’s semi automatics.
Looking at the Temps in Eastern Mt , I sure wish I was heading that way now but I’m on the IR right now so bucket list next year hopefully , until then living vicariously through others 😢🤘🤘
This was great! Just want you to know that you put out my favorite videos on RUclips. I love your style, your narration, and your dogs! A lot of what you do has inspired me on what I do in my videos. I'm just starting out on the filming, but one day I'm hoping they do as well as yours! Very nice work!
Hey Eric just wanted to let you know that I love the vids and you are by far my favourite hunter on youtube. Just a suggestion, I think that sometimes when you shoot a long bird it is hard for us to see it, and I was wondering if you could get a shotkam to make it easier for us to see the birds getting shot and for you to see what your shot spread is and maybe improve your accuracy. Keep uo the good work !
I’m making the haul from TN to Montana this weekend as well! Hopefully I’ll have some luck! It’ll be our first time out there feel free to share any pointers for a first timer! 😃
Well I’m a bit biased, but a German Wirehair can do it all. 😁 It would be more about finding a line of dogs that don’t run too big for what you want to do.
Great video as always Eric. I am planning a trip to Montana in 2024. I run a Dogtra 2500T&B on my dogs. Would it be a good idea to get a hand held gps for myself to get around in the field up there? Thanks for your help.
Bird fix ? Yeah. Needed this. Indiana dove season opened Sept 1st. Waiting until cool down this coming week. Of course you know this. Ready for some cool weather for dog work and empty shell boxes to go with my shooting percentage on those gray bastards !
Hi, it fills me with happiness to watch your young pups again. Hope to watch them again one year older. Greetings from Denmark
Thanks you!
Had the itch for the season to kick off and here comes Eric posting to really make me miss it!
It's on my bucket list to hunt with you and your amazing dogs...

Unless he ate two birds a day, I'd say he's on camera shooting four times his possession limit of sharps.
another great video. Life is good in Montana!
Yes!!!! Great surprise to see a new video ❤
I’m packing my gear now to leave for the opener. Good luck to all of you and be safe.

Nice, I will be in KS in November as always! 👍
Welcome Eric
Your vids are the best
Thanks 👊
Fantastic footage! Only 2 more days and we will be out there doing the same.
Have fun out there!
Amazing hunt , enjoy boss man
Can’t wait, as a Montana resident, we will be chasing Grouse up around that area my son and I saw you

Great segment! Got a new shotgun and a young pup ready to go here in Oregon!
Awesome, enjoy!
Heading that way this coming weekend. Do you see many snakes in that area?
The snakes can be a hazard depending on where you are.
Would love to see some follow-up shotcam footage added to the videos!
Great vids! Do you have a gear list posted somewhere?
Yes I do, on Patreon. www.patreon.com/ericforrester

I’ll be getting a ghostpointwirehair puppy this coming spring. We should get together. I hear there is some good bird hunting towards the smokies.
@@taylormaute9588 I’ve heard the same but never chased them myself. It’s tough terrain scaling the mountains though chasing birds 😂
beautiful video, saludos desde España.
What hunting dog breeds do you recommend for an older guy to have aka my dad age 56, he would do mostly pheasant and quail.
Well I’m a bit biased, but a German Wirehair can do it all. 😁
It would be more about finding a line of dogs that don’t run too big for what you want to do.
Headed to Nebraska Thursday any tips for chickens and sharpies? Best of luck to you this season
I love NE, one of my favorite places to hunt! But bring comfy boots, plenty of water, and dog power. 👍
@ericforrester1 sounds good thanks

For navigation and getting around in the field, there’s nothing better than OnXmaps.com. That and your Dogtra, and you’re set. 👍
BTW, I thought the cell phone footage was AWESOME!

very nice ❤❤❤
Great highlights Eric. Did you work with Riggs at five months old to whoa or was that his natural ability? Impressive
Just natural. He and Savvy had only seen a few pigeons in launchers.
@@ericforrester1 sweet my four month old GWP is with me for six weeks in Montana and North Dakota learning a lot from my 10 year old Gwp
That a great way for them to learn. Have fun!
Just curious, did those Odin/moxie pups come out of the womb that steady or did it take a little work?
😁 it didn’t take much at all. They only saw a handful of pigeons before this trip.
Good to know! Got a pup on the way with similar bloodlines
Eric, at what temp do you stop hunting and what temp do you feel like you can run most of the day?
It’s complicated but here’s the short answer.
What shotgun are you using? Thank you for all the content! Love watching the pups work!
I’m this video it’s my Benelli Ethos 12
What software do you use to edit your videos !?
iMovie
Toby is unsurpassed
Anyone know what kind of gun he is using?
What kind of shotgun is that sir?
Benelli Ethos
Do you hunt mostly public or private land for this video?
All publicly accessible.
Wow such great action! I’ve never hunted Montana. What region is that?
You ever gotta worry about snakes out there?
Yes, they are around.
