    Every time this competition is held comments are made about this very low-key method of announcing the prizewinners. In this case many of the competitors didn't even understand what was being said. It seems to be more like a school talent quest rather one of the world's most prestigious piano competitions.

      It's tradition, the last part is always a kind of a spontaneous mess, and informal:) They always stand on the stairs, and it's simple and not a big do:) That comes the day after, the gala concert featuring the winners. It may seem strange, but it's been like this for years:) Also, they couldn't just use the concert hall for the announcement, because it's never certain when the results will come in, so there are no tickets sold to this part of the competition. Announcing the results in an almost empty (even including the media) philharmonic hall would look ridiculous:)

    Guys, it was 2a.m. then. A beautiful official prize ceremony followed the next day. In English.

    This is just embarrassing. As a Pole i was a bit cringing. How can we ignore the multicultural character of this competition and announce the results in polish with bad pronunciation without help of this translator guy. This is one of the biggest musical events and the confusion among participants makes organization look just ridiculous! I hope the reason to speak polish is not 'we are in Poland and Chopin was polish' agenda but more like the Chef of Everything doesn't speak english good enough.

      I think the fuss over English in the chat was because they wanted to stress the international character of the competition and make sure most people could understand. However, when announcing the winners, they wanted to stress the importance of Chopin’s polish side. Whether we like it or not, everyone feels quite rightly proud of their own language and nationality, in my view.

    Congratulations to those who participated in this Theatrical show. We see that once more, Mr. DANG's Student is the winneer... much like last time in 2015 when his 3 (YES THREE) students were the winners... No conflict of interest there...
    So now that we all see with our EYE and hear with our EARS that this is not a competition at all, but simply a spring board theater for Mr. Dang's Students, I would like to assure all the participants that there is no shame in being eliminated nor any real value to the trophy... You have all been Wonderful and GREAT pianists, and WE THE AUDIENCE KNOW what we now know...
    That being said, the winner, although a student of "Mr. Dang and co.", Is also a very Great Pianist indeed and I congratulate him personally for his performance which was in fact Outstanding and yes I do admit that he is very deserving of the prize nonetheless. But that is not to say that all the others were NOT !! Several were ABSOLUTELY deserving of th same.
    If Mr. Dang wants us to believe his students are actually the real winners of a competition, I suggest he refrain from being a judge in this and any competition. His influence within the Chopin Institute itself is much too great for us to exonerate him from rigging the outcomee to his advantage. His students are Very Good, and if they can win, they will win without him being in among the judges.
    I am not accusing anyone here, but the situation is SHOUTING out loud that such a biased rigging is taking place simply by these facts alone!
    If you were a participant in the competition and you did not make the finals, think nothing of it... you did not LOSE anything... and you are still a GREAT PIANIST!!! I asure you of this!
    Much Love to you all and thankyou to all of you wonderful Pianists who gave us of yourselves so generously! May the Gods Bless each and every one of you,

      Yes, lots of covert stuff goes on in events like this. But just because your favorite participant didn’t win is no reason to throw accusations of cheating. Do you have any evidence in support of your accusations? If not, your behavior is nothing more than dishonorable blabber-mouthing. You think someone else deserved first prize? Well, get on the jury next time and vote on it. I don’t know how much you know about pianism (incidentally, I’ve been playing the piano since 1965 - you must be a ninety-something then, Grandpa), but the official results are perfectly credible given the performance of the various participants. The general level of the competition was unusually high this time and just because someone played well enough to win last time doesn’t necessarily mean he/she was the one to get the highest number of points this time around. While the competition does not form the essence of my existence, I happen to live in Warsaw, I know some of the people involved (incidentally, my personal favorite, Ms Kobayashi, didn’t win First Prize either) and I do follow the event closely every 5 years.

    What happened the the modern Latin (English) for the international community? I don't mind the informal setting, but if they are going to announce the results then they should at least have English interpretation after each sentence. I mean there was that man standing next to the Director of the Competition and he did translate a little bit in the beginning about 8 awards and JJ won something, but he then kind of quit translating after that. It's very confusing to hear the names but not sure exactly what prize they have won because it was all spoken in Polish. It took me a while to figure out that Sorita and Gajiev shared the second prize. And I totally missed the fourth prize was shared between Aimi and Jakub. The only thing I was kind of sure was Bruce appeared to have won first prize and that JJ to my happy surprise won something probably the sixth prize. I meant it's not just the people around the world watching who were confused by the announcement in Polish, Sorita looked like he wasn't sure either when his name was called and had to double check with Jakub Kuzlik. Well, it was memorable that's for sure 😂😂

    It seems that, The 2 REAL winners were probably PARKED together in 4th place to advantage Mr. DANG and his PERSONAL decision of who would win! I even wonder if they seperated the bouquet of flowers between the 2 REAL winners... parked in 4th place!! what an insult to the Music Industry and the many talents who were left behind!
    In fact, I believe that if Fryderyk Chopin himself would have participated in this DANG Competito-theater, he would not havee made the finals because he would have been too much of a threat to DANG's choices of winners.... And I don't even think that saying this is sarcasm... but pure 100% truth!

    • @DavidLee-ik8dd
      @DavidLee-ik8dd Год назад

      You do realize the scores are up on the internet, and Dang Thai Son scored contestants quite similarly to his peers. Even if he were to discriminate the contestants that are not his students, it would not work because there are many jury members in total and his opinion would inevitably be diluted. I also believe that Dang Thai Son has good intentions personally. He fairly scored other contestants, and he gives off a generally genuine vibe in his interviews.

      @richarddeschenes739 Год назад

      @@DavidLee-ik8dd That may be your opinion, as for several others who do not have access to the insider realm as well, however Dang used his influence; (him being verry connected to and with the competition administration), along with several other judges who had a stake in the outcome, to flip the scores and cause the selection of winners according to their rigging. The perception you pointedly have of his innocence in the matter is precisely what gives him the advantage of "credibility". There's a much deeper and obscure reality lurking under the surface. If we liken this to criminality, it is easier to comprehend... In high level Financial crime, all players will swear to their legitimacy because they are Gaining from the fraud. The losers are the victims and the fraudsters walk away with the prize (unsuspected of the crime). They always have a hidden truth unknown to the public. We see this among politicians who get into politics and become multi millionaires after just a few years through insider tading... which is a crime, but they walk away free of any accountability because their successive replacements do the same crimes and hold the power to continue supressing and hiding the truth. It's all based on the investments of MONEY... NEVER True justice.
