Legend has it, his stove is still on to this very day.
I always prick my cloves into the onion, makes them easier to get out.
bread sauce is the best
Yes it is
I have never heard of a bread sauce before - thanks for the tutorial!
Looks delicious!
Just as I was taught. However a little grated nutmeg adds to it nicely.
Ur the man, Gill
Great and so simple , thank you . All set for Christmas dinner now.
PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME THE NAME OF THE BACKGROUND MUSIC PLZZZZ T_T
What is bread sauce paired with besides poultry??
UK food in one recipe
Sound wonderfull. How do you serve it, what kind of dish?
Traditionally with a roast bird, turkey or chicken
This looks yummy, but this is the first time I have heard of Bread Sauce. You said that it goes well with all kinds of meats. My question is do you put it on the meat like a sauce or eat it like a side? Either way I will probably be trying this very soon.
Turkey & Chicken is best, Pork is also good. Put the sauce on the side. It's amazing the amount of people who have never heard of this.
I'm a bad cook, I'm very good at fish just not Sundays. Lol. Nice beginners guide I like mine thick like my mum's haha. Cos mum's nd sisters know how to cook haha
what is the name of the music?
master of puppets - metalica
Bread sauce is the culinary equivalent of an old, beige carpet.
Does the job
Just a query: Why use milk and not water
Why??
Philomena was right, that does look quite jizzy
I don't recognise the cloves you used!! What are they? Can you the usual plumper white cloves?
White cloves is garlic I think. You need clove which is a spice. Can be bought in most shops.
I'm not sure how I feel about this but maybe it's just the Texas in me!
im not sure how i feel about this... but i guess its the germany in me
Try it with roast turkey. I leave chopped onions in, add sage. Houston
I'm not sure how I feel about this but maybe it's just the human with a functioning palate in me!
why no end product to view, was it lumpy was it smooth ????
Years of british rule on countries with spices yet still the brit made this wow.
So it's just abread on milk with extra flavors like onion and paper. I would rather use a small part of that onion in a blender instead of wasting it all.
I guess this all depends on what kind of bread you use. the bread is going to change the whole flavor.
What do you do with the onion?! do you waste it?!
All of the flavor went into the sauce. You wouldn't get any flavor from the onions after the good stuff is extracted, but you could always slice them and serve them with roasted veggies.
Yeah, this is a waste, you should use a small part of that onion in a blender instead of wasting it all just t o get the flavor.
Gill: “We’ve got all of our ingredients here, very few of them. Milk is the main one.”
Cats: “Yes.”
Gill: “Bread is the other.”
Cats: “Yes!”
Gill: “Bayleaves, absolutely delicious...”
Cats: “What??”
Gill: “Just quickly peel an onion.”
Cats: “MYEEOOOOOOOH.”
1:18 but the crust is the most nutritious part of the bread
I don't think that's correct, if anything the crust was cooked more and has less nutrients
Don’t believe the lies you were told as a child
Messy ;)
Get that pan off that nylon board ya muppet.
bread sauce is grim
Needs butter. Also better to just finely dice a little onion, sauté it and leave it in. I also grind the cloves and leave them in. Less wasteful doing this in my opinion.
looks a bit lumpy!
wtf is this nonsense no wonder people find british food laughable
What's wrong with it? How's it any worse than thickening sauce with flour or corn starch like usual?
