This is best tutorial. I literally just did everything you did and made the perfect golden omelet with no brown in it. Its so beautiful and taste delicious!
Make sure to use that Metal fork on the teflon ladies and gents. I personally enjoy a wee bit of teflon into my omlet's, my naturopath told me it strengthens my immune system. I rarely get sick as a result.
I've only just seen this video and I'd just like to say thank you to Jamie as I made an omelette once and it was so terrible I gave up.. I've now just made the tastiest yumiest omelette ever so a big thank you Jamie.. Everyone else was more concerned about damaging the pan 😂.. I'm sure Jamie has plenty more.. And we can use whatever pan/utensils we like.. The video is about how to cook an omlette! I'm going to be making many many more now. 😋 😋 Thank you again!!
I like to add red capsicum, mushrooms and cheese to the inside of the omelette, then a touch of chives or spring onion and black pepper to finish the dish on a plate 🍳 Sometimes a side of a fresh tomato for the perfect breakfast or brunch. One thing only - we’re told by the manufacturers not to use metal utensils with non-stick pans, as they can scratch the coating and release harmful chemicals to the food. I use a flat, plastic or silicone spatula
I made a small omelette like that for fun and holy crap. It was the best omelette I've ever eaten. I didn't know an omelette could be that tasty with just eggs and cheese.
Jamie, all of your tips are amazing, i've started making omelette like you do, and it is delicous. Before that, i've been eating overcooked omelette, and to be honest, wasn't so good. Also, experimenting with the omelette, the ingredients, yummy. I've tried eggs mixed with coriander, grated cheese, grated white cheese feta, grated carrot, and lemon peels chopped. Also, that with bacon, goes boom,, most delicious meal i've ever tried, fluffy milky.....
I'm 49 and the first thing I learned to cook was an omelet, when I was about 9. I cooked them almost the same way you did, I taught myself to cook them (as well as eggy in a basket and many other dishes). Recent visit to the doctor showed high cholesterol. Do you have a recipe using just the eggs whites, no butter? Can you recommend a butter substitute? Butter, cheese and egg yolk is a no-go for me. Thanks!
Just separate your eggs, throw out the yolk, and cook pretty much as above. In some stores you can buy litres of egg whites (looks like a litre milk carton) and that works too, though the protein strings are broken so it doesn't behave quite like an egg white freshly separated. Takes a little getting used to but it works.
Jamie, you are a genius omelette maker. I just did it but added about a tablespoon of tinned evaporated milk to 2 eggs. It came PERFECT, following your fork manoeuvres which I think are essential to cooking the egg to just enough softness! Then added vegan cheddar cheese. I did not need to add salt and pepper and I used a normal stainless steel frying pan. If only there is a way to make a vegan omelette like this! Oh yes, I cooked half an onion until brown before cooking the omelette and then poured the egg mixture on top. I think the caramelized onion adds great flavour to that soft cheesy omelette. May God bless you and your family!
I love to make Spanish omelette and for that I have two non stick pans that can lock together for the purpose of tossing upside down and cooking both sides. Great fun! Spanish omelette is SO delicious! Eggs, diced par-boiled potato’s, and pre fried onion - all mixed into a 6 egg omelette. Delicious hot or cold.
That's not a crime when making an omelette, however the curd is not how I like it. Its slightly browned, a french omelette should just be pale and even, and shaped in a dome.
Thank You Jamie ( how many folks here know that at the age of 27 as you've been learning to budget and be thrifty where needed you've already at least begun to master eggs in a pan with butter and the pre-dicing of ingredients, preparing of everything puts your cooking speed and agility at somewhere near electricity?)
A no-nonsense approach that’s aimed at the ordinary person. No fancy ingredients or techniques. It would be great if he did another basic cooking TV series, especially in these straightened times.
What can i say but that i am an absolute fan of your shows on tv and never miss them. I love the practical approach and the fact that you show how not to waste food by creating interesting recipes from the left overs too...i try to do the same and teach my children to try it too...thank you!
Fabulous tips and delicious omelette. Just one thing. Shouldn't you be using a non-metal spatula or wooden? It ensures that no bits of coating will get into the food. Besides wearing the pan out way before time. "Waste not, want not," said, my gran. Love your recipes. Good job!

thank you! This is Game changing in my breakfast making levels. Went from over cooked crunchy eggs to prime soft and fluffy omelettes. Love the videos!
dave 1 oh, no. Never. But it WOULD make a nice starter, followed up by half a chicken. Or half a dozen Big Macs... Seriously tho, omelette is strictly breakfast fare. With ham, and onions, and green peppers, mostly.
my late mum was the omelette queen, they came out golden and fluffy everytime, I just can't seem to replicate that, I must confess I prefer a fluffy omelette to a flat one, but chacun a son gout!!
Well done, Jamie Oliver! Your omelette technique is so good that it almost momentarily keeps us from being distracted by the willful deceptiveness of your Mockney accent.

Jamie, I’ve always been a huge fan of yours. It started when I watched the documentary about the Fifteen restaurants. I thought what you did was incredible. Anyway, these tutorials are so helpful, especially for light weights like me. Thirty years on and I’m still doing a rotation of mexican wraps, spaghetti bolognese, shepherds pie, pesto pasta/tuna pasta and Sunday roast for my family. In part because my husband ‘knows what he likes’. Oh... and scrabbled eggs. I’m going to break through that glass ceiling tomorrow and try an Omlette. 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
