She is beautiful and vigorous, so 🤞🏼 we get her through the winter / spring without any issues! Thank you so so much, amigo!! HI Vene 😍💐 good to see you again! Thank you so much for watching and for your comment! I was holding my breath as well, because, although it has never happened to me, I wonder if, one day, I will snap pseudobulbs off by doing that. I feel as though some orchids can take it, and others... I don't dare do this. This orchid is a vigorous one... almost like a weed 😆 love it! I hope your day was fabulous, Vene!! 🌸

      FFF 😍🙌🏼🤸🏼‍♀️🥰💐 good evening, meine liebe Freundin!! You may be receiving 2 comments of mine, but, I will risk that! Better than no reply at all 😬 I cannot see my reply to you from a couple of hours ago. It was along the lines of, how frustrated I was about Baloo's hair being in some images of blooms I take, but cannot see until I have downloaded the images. It is really annoying, because, some images, I cannot retake. Sweeping the blooming alley gives me all of Baloo's hair 😤 cute as he is, it is very very annoying. Had a busy morning, outside of the patio, so... unfortunately my day with the orchids was very short lived. I did not enjoy today at all, but hope that mañana will be better. Hope your day was amazing, and that both you and Olivia discovered amazing things in the garden 😘 thank you so much for your support, amiga mia!! Much love to you and your's ❤️🌸

      My studio is a mess.... it appears that YT cannot make up it's mind, as to what it wants to show or not show. I have resorted to ignoring anything else, with the exception of comments. I don't know what YT is working on, but it is not working for me, that's for sure! I have comments, with non matching thumbnails to videos, so I have to figure out who is actually talking about which video etc etc... that is for starters. I have a video with all those little confetti things, but the numbers are so low, it makes no sense. I give up and am going to bed 😤🥹😘🌸

    All my aquascaping tools certainly came in handy for use with my orchids..! Especially with my Fat fingers. 🤪 Nice re-pot Nina... Fun watching you man handle those orchids. 🤣🤣

      Hi 🦇😍💐 I do enjoy a good tussle with an orchid, as long as I know that she is vigorous and can handle some rough treatment! It really takes all the stress out of the process. The bestest pseudobulbs in my collection... speaking of vigor, the garciana isn't too shabby either! She is going nuts in her bowl 🤯 I am looking forward to that blooming late winter. Something to look forward to. Meanwhile, the cochleata will have to deal with the pot that it has now, but, I have a feeling that we will be revisiting it in 12 months. 🫣 I look forward to what you have to share, and let me thank you in advance for giving it a thought as you go about your business, that means so much! 🙏🏼 thank you! Also for watching 🦇❤️ hope your day is digesting nicely 😉😆🌸

I find that so many things in orchid blooms have been adopted by the fashion industry as well. Colors that should not make sense together, do... and then to make a fabric or an outfit with those colors 😍 How to wear your orchids in style 🤣 being so vigorous and easy to divide, without any piece struggling, I am surprised that you can't source one... yet! 🤞🏼 that the 2 of you will find each other! Thank you so much for watching, Shirley and for your kind comment and support! I hope you had a beautiful day ❤️🌸

    You will get your RUclips flag soon! We are all pulling for you!
    First of all, King is a lovely dog. How nice, he likes to spend repot time with you.
    Second, omg….how long does it take you to clean/sanitize all that Leca? I have a small amount (2 cups) I need to take care of. After researching, oh dread. I’m hoping all the stuck velament will just float off during the boiling treatment. 🤣
    And lastly third, you have a beautiful orchid. You should be very proud of it!🎉
    Have a great day, Nina!

    • @NinjaOrchids

      HI BeBe 😍💐 thank you!! 🙏🏼 so much!! For your vote of confidence! 🙏🏼 and for your support 😘 it is encouraging to read comments like your's and so very very much appreciated! King would be lying across my feet if I allowed him to do that. I had to also teach him to not lie in between the tripod supports 😅 he is a good boy when he sees me setting up. He sits and waits to see where everything is going, and where I am standing, and then settles down ... not touching anything but as close as he can get. I felt bad at the beginning, telling him no, because all he wanted was to be close to me, and why would I discourage that. Seems as if we have found a happy medium 🥰 When I say Take Care, 'Bye... from wherever he is, he lifts his head and checks out if I am done, then there are a lot of lovings and a treat 🥰 Probably more info than you wanted to know, but it was so sweet of you to notice him! This took me 30 minutes to wash and remove the velamen, 10 minutes to boil and now it is in a tray for me to sort, which will take approx 20 minutes. I love sorting leca, because it is so therapeutic. This leca was a bit of a nuisance because the roots are so fine, that getting the velamen off completely is a bit of a headache, and I don't normally get all of it off. Boiling doesn't remove it from the leca either. When it comes to catasetinae roots... I actually scrub the leca beads individually. because the velamen of catasetinae is like paper and just wont come off with a little nudge of a nail. I have to take that in stages, or else I risk scrubbing my fingers raw. If the blooms were a little more showy, then this orchid would be perfect, so the pseudobulbs make up for the less than showy blooms. Those are impressive 🤩 really appreciate you watching and your support! Thank you so much, BeBe!! I hope your Friday was perfect ❤️🌸

    • @bebe9052
      @bebe9052 Год назад +2

      I was hoping you would tell me boiling leca removes EVERYTHING! I think I will buy a new bag 🤣, just kidding or not?
      I am an animal lover, have two golden retrievers and two cats. King is adorable! But tell him no leca beads, you don’t need an emergency surgery bill……lol. Do you have another fur baby? I thought I saw another fuzzy on one of your videos, this one doesn’t want screen time😂
      I’m sorry your orchid “help desk” hasn’t been as active, as I had hoped. Just a thought……I kinda found it hard to locate it, it blends in with the link above it. The CAPITAL lettering is good eye catcher. Can you insert a line space between them? It needs to stand out, put lights on it!
      I know you are a busy lady, no need to respond. I totally understand. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

    • @NinjaOrchids
      @NinjaOrchids  Год назад +2

      yep... the cleaning can be a little bit of a pain in the derriere, but THEN, pouring the cleaned leca into the storage container, THAT is so satisfying, at least for me 😃 I am very very meticulous about stopping everything I am doing if a leca bead escapes my catch tray!! VERY!! I stop filming, and go find it / them. He is so curious, he thinks everything on the floor is fair game. NO, it is NOT! And they look like his kibbles 🤦🏼‍♀️ very dangerous! My daughter has a German Spitz called Baloo. He is the really hairy fur ball in the home. Split personality as well... when he is with me he behaves one way, and when he is with my daughter, he forgets all his manners and becomes some kind of a monster! And... she is the dog trainer? Uhmmm ok! 😂 I will take your suggestion on board, Bebe and see if I only have the link to the form in the comments, that it may make a difference. I may be able to add the original video to the form itself. Thank you so much for the tip, I so appreciate having a second set of eyes letting me see what 'they' see! 🤗🙏🏼

    For a long time I was thinking that prostechea orchids are the same as zygopetalums. About that, I am converting to leca. I made an awesome system that works for me, but orchids that I have no courage to transfer are my cymbidium and zygopetalum 🤣

    • @NinjaOrchids
      @NinjaOrchids  Год назад +3

      HI Diva 😍💐 if what I say now, will help you to get those transitioned as well, then, let me tell you that, leca was initially invented to regular houseplants / terrestrial plants. Seeing as Zygos and Cymbidiums are considered semi terrestrial, they do really really well in leca. The Zygos, do NOT like their roots messed with for an extended period of time, so... as you saw with the Zygo rot video, I hardly fussed with them at all. It does not matter if there is any organic media around the roots, even after giving them a gentle rinse off in a bowl of water. Flushing will remove anything that could be considered excessive. Cymbidiums... mine lives in leca and self watering from the moment that I brought it home. I waited for one new growth to start with new roots, and went to town ... it is ok to be radical with cymbidium roots, as long as a new root system is starting to grow. There will be no set back at all. I even have my cymdibidum in an oversized pot so that I don't have to disturb it for years.... I am not in year 4 with that orchid in the same pot. It's fantastic 😅 if you have any other things that are stopping you from changing the media to leca, not incl. the new root system ... let me know if I can be of any help 👍🏼 really appreciate you watching, and once again, thank you so much for subscribing and .... welcome!! 🥳🌸

If you have any further questions that I can address in a video, I will be happy to do so. 👍🏼 The type of fertilizer you can use is so varied, that I can only recommend that, if your fertilizer does not have calcium or magnesium in it, then you will need to have the side product to supplement with ruclips.net/video/-hzXm0FsyVA/видео.html this video is about Calcium and Magnesium. And if you would like to add seaweed extract into the mix, then ruclips.net/video/5IRPutcCvIw/видео.html this video explains what I do / use for orchids that need a boost in recovery or as a routine throughout the growing phases of the orchid. Don Miguel 🥰💐 hola jefe!! It was a good feeling! Especially with a vigorous orchid that can take some radical abuse, without collapsing or sulking 👍🏼 I wish I had an even bigger pot just to be on the safe side for another 2 years, but.. what the shed had would have been ridiculously big, and seeing as tetris begins soon, I need to know what I am up against inside, before going the deluxe route of an XXL size pot. If the puzzle fits with space to spare, then the cochleata will go into XXL this time next year 👍🏼 👍🏼 did not want to get ahead of myself too soon. I am starting to feel apprehensive about the when.... October has been very pleasant to say the least, but so was October 22 🥹 I had my big epidendrum hybrids earlier in the season... that got the radical root chop. If I am not mistaken, there were 4 in total. They are doing really well... nice new growths, so, I should not see any issues with having some blooms out of them later in the winter 🤞🏼 hope your Monday was fabulous, amigo!! I do not have the financial means to pay for fresh media every time I need to repot. I have been growing in inorganic media for the past 5 years, and it has worked really well for me. I have learned a lot about how orchid roots behave, have made a few mistakes along the way and lost some orchids, but, for the most part... I will not be returning to bark again. I simply cannot afford it. 🙂
