      Since Akeem Relic was implemented into the game, all the Condi warrior needs thrown, is that thing out the fucking window.

    Condition reaper is going to be fun with trident. It has a skill that apllies multiple instances of chill around you.

    I almost guarantee they're going to try to "translate" most/all of the existing underwater skills to land analogs. Both because, looking at them, a) This makes the most sense in the balance (or lack thereof) landscape that we exist in right now, and b) Because *this seems actually possible considering their usual development budget.* | Especially considering that they'd have to make about 27+ new skills for Ele Trident alone. I'm ofc open to being wrong. But this makes the most sense to me at least.

      They also have the technology. (look Gunsaber + all utility skills that work both on land and in water.)

    I like your theory of "minimaal effort" and just transforming/transferring the majority of sea skills in to land skills
    But, hypothetically, what if the warrior spear burst is just *_"THE BIG YEET"_* and you just chuck your spear full force like a javelin? Maybe give it the Guardian bow "arrow of light" knockback?
    Whaddaya think of that?
    It's still reusing animations, but mixing it in from other classes. They kinda seem to like doing that, and playing with expectations of what weapons are supposed to do (rev hammer)

      As much as I'd like to see more effort/more respurces poured into GW2's gameplay reimagination, pragmatic scepticism in me still concludes, that being resource efficent is the way to go.
      This isn't riot or blizzard after all. Arena don't squeeze their playerbase for every penny, on every corner.

      Never thought the day would come when I'd say I'm glad an MMO developer _isn't_ Blizzard. But I guess the heydays of Blizz have long been gone by now ☹️

    now 3 months after this video release with janthir wildes I HOPED that the spear we got is like the underwater one instead of this existential crisis having garbage. ALSO warrior spear animation budget seems to have been taken by elemetalist. the weapon shares 1 ANIMATION FOR 3 DIFFERENT FUCKING SKILLS 1 through 3. skill 4 reused animation from another class and 5...actually i like the 5. BUT no animation particles whatsoever. i feel like a farmer throwing pitchforks at people just angrier...ye i think Anet needs to fire some ppl from the design team XD

      countrary to what you say about firing people, i think they need to hire more poeople, so that there's somebody actually working full time on warrior, not just after hours as a punshment.

    They should return beach map with the underwater capture point. We need more weapons because they are already doing amazing job balacing with the current ones. How is adding more variables to the game going to help with the balance, matchamking and just poor game mechanics and the clunky weapons that we already have. I think Cal is a great Idea guy but when it comes to actual imact we are already -97% spvp playerbase. At midnight in eu I feel like I play against the same 15 players. Meanwhile the Open World is super populated

      Agree on the underwater capture point map, at least for unranked.
      Disagree on balance being "amazing".

    It's a trade secret but Shart Attack Earth Trident 5 is a smoke field. Eles have always had access to stealth, but only by pressing water 5 inside of earth 5. Stealthing through Arcane Wave and then performing a Water 2, 5, FA 2 combo would get gutted extremely fast if it were a combo on land.

    It doesn't happen often, but I'm happy today is one of those days
    Let's (foolishly?) hope for the best, and that warrior land spear will be fun!
    Today's news might make me hopeful enough to dare to dream _even more,_ and hope for a rework on warrior rifle and a fix to hundred blades rooting us for the duration
    What do _you_ think?
    Is this a sign of change in the dev/balance team? Of perhaps a glimmer of hope for us?
    Or do you think it'll just end up as empty promises and failed potential?

      They certainly don't lack creativity in terms of support warrior improvements.
      All we need them to do is to applay the same creativity in more broad scope.

      Or do you think they'll just stick with the support changes and call it a day?
      Cause back in the day I used to play some other MMOs (and other games) and certain devs had an idea of "how a class _should_ be played" and then balanced around that, effectively trying to force a certain style of play/role for a class

      @@droganovic6879 Guild Wars is already too broadly grown, for "forcing a playstyle" onto a class could be possible.
      Even with the same weapons, stats, abd core part, the same build will play differently on each spec, and will eithwr fail or succeed based on different sets of internal interacions.
      And that's before we include the fact the every class can be played as power, condi or a healer, not to mention variety of weapon choices and rest of the class in general.
      Sure there are constraints put in place to steer certain classes into certain directions, like most warrior weapons being mele, or mele adjecent, and all thief main hands having special out-of-stealth-only skill.
      However, from what i saw and understood, Arena aims (poorly) to increase amount of builds playable, not to railroad already existing ones into some sort of playstyles.
      They're at least in this regard, certainly worth some praise.

      Yeah, I guess that's the real sticking point. The *poorly* part.
      I guess it can _subjectively_ feel like a forcing hand, when playstyles you like get nerfed and playstyles you don't get buffed and pulled to the forefront
      I'm glad to hear that you see hope in the design philosophy at least. It's hard keeping an objective eye on it all after life got a bit more busy, which means scaling back on the GW2 play
      Honestly, you're the only GW creator I go out of my way to follow, so all's I got is your status updates for the majority of the time 😅

    I don't think they will just copy paste the underwater skills. They at least have to change the animations. For example necro spinning with the spear doesn't really make sense on land.
    Also necro spear 3 is just a worse copy of horn 5.
    Based on that I think unless they rework underwater skills as well, I don't think the skills will be the same on land.

      sure, some skills will have to change - like i mentioned with Warrior's spear 5 in the video.
      Though i Expect Anet will go trough a path of least resistance and just swap animations where possible, and only tweaking skills too similar to something else.

    To me, trident is almost a guarantee.
    They didn't show it because they wanted a "sneaky" teaser not a full blown reveal.
    I can't imagine them adding content for only half the classes if they add only spear, and as you said trident already exists and has some cool skills.
    Also adds the possibilities to unlock new weapons for classes down the line, say, trident for ranger or spear for elementalist, for later expansions

    It's odd in the video from Anet the player is holding the spear with one hand. All 2h weapons are always held with 2 hands on land. Is this just Anet saving animation cost? Or are spears going to be one handed on land? Or a surprising 3rd thing?

      I thought of that and no, charr doesn't wield staff with both hands while idle. Norn (like the npc showcased on the teaser) do though, as do humans

      Consider this, if the character in the teaser used staff animation witha that spear, everyone would have tought that's just a staff skin.

    If they introduce a spear when all othe other weapons arent usable yet is just lazy. All it would do is make great sword unuseable. Not to mention they wouldnt give warrior a 1200 pull unless they nerf all the cc

      Warr weapons that need attention, already need attention, spear won't change that.
      When it comes to Pull though, remember that warrior already has 1200 range AoE knockdown, in [Tremor] which noone uses becouse it isn't strong enough.
      12s cooldown in Vs modes is all [Barbed pull] needs to be acceptable.

    Could be possible that the spear on land could be because we are getting the Paragon class.

      it is VERY unlikely we'll get another class within this decade.
      We got Rev in Hot, partially becouse we didn't had 27 elite specs back then, so it was easyier to make a class on pair with everything else.
      Now when we have all those specs, new class is very unlikely.
