I think DJI company owes you a lot for doing their job in showing how to use their product. It’s worth watching from your channel on how to operate the OM5. So many creator it’s not direct to the point when giving their tips on how to use it as so many unrelated chit chat
Totally agree. The DJI unboxing experience is greatly disappointing. From the clunky software install to no links to the user guide to no tutorials anywhere on how to use any of the features, DJI assumes everyone is a pro I guess.

This gimbal has driven me nuts for the last two days- I even thought it was faulty and asked Amazon to replace it- then suddenly discovered I needed to download ‘updated firmware’ and Bingo!!! now the flip screen and zoom button worked also the record button was less random. I’m 63 I’m not technically minded but I’m pretty good at following instructions but this drove me nuts. Your explanation was very helpful by the way.
I'm 65 and am technically minded, I'm a retired RAAF engineer, and quite frankly the DJI support and explanations are rubbish so it doesn't matter what age or skill level you are. If only Apple made their own gimbal!

Thanks for your great video. Great as always. Big and famous companies are going backwards day by day instead of progressing. They only make the appearance more beautiful and the inside weaker! OM4 for (more professional filmmaking is better). For example, with a light 2-meter monopod, we can create more cinematic movements with the help of a wider moving angle. While OM5 is more limited in terms of degree of movement. Although the OM4 weighs more, it is much more comfortable than the OM5. OM5: - More limited angle of motion. OM5:(Tilt: -101.46 ° to 229.54 °) - OM4: (Tilt:- 106.54° to 235.5°) - Weaker battery. (More than half of the previous model) OM5: 1000 mAh - OM4 2450 mAh - Lower build quality (due to metal monopod hinges that may deteriorate after several uses). - No soft manual mode on the joystick. - No USB-A port for the reverse power bank source.
Sounds like a pro like you had similar experience with app confusion, deleting, and reloading the app and then updating the app from a dji apk on their website. Getting the gimbal to connect thru the app is pretty much step 1 and it should have been much easier. As a new user of a gimbal and the brand, this is really off-putting. Because I have an upcoming trip. I did want to use my new purchase and fought along through it in much the same way as you did.

Got the om4. Soon as you said the om5 has 6.5 hour battery. That's a straight up no go for me. I'll stick with the lovely 15 hours and the permanent magnet
I just pucked up the Zhihun Smooth X Special Edition for $40. You can get the Smooth X for $30. The only difference is 2 instead of 3 axis. It does not have the tilt axis, but you can manually tilt it with the selfie stick, just like on the OM5. I allready have the OM 4. I can use two phone gimballs at the same time as I kept my old phone. If you are looking for a new gimball and you don't mind spending $100-110 dollars more the OM 5 is a little easier to open and close.
The magnetic clamp is a little different. The om5 clamp is a little bigger the grip is larger so if you have a case on your phone you can still clamp on to it without removing your case versus on the om4 clamp you have to remove your phone case in order to clamp onto the phone.
Speaking of the clamp, my iPhone 13 Pro Max will not fit with an Otterbox Defender case on it, but it appears when the DJI Lighted clamp becomes available, it will. Right now I have to take the case off and either use it without a case or use a thinner one, but the lighted case will allow it to be used without having to do this. I'll probably buy counterweights at the same time and the OM5 allows then to be used.
For everyone wondering.. I have a 13pro max and the mount fits with an otterbox on my phone. The magnet is very strong so I’m not particularly worried about the grip on my phone but I’m only recording home tours with it so not like running around crazy or anything. I’ve never had any of the previous generation camera stabilizers and with this being my first one I found it very difficult to use out the box to the point where it would’ve just been more simple and faster to just use my hands to hold the phone while recording. 100% returning it after about an hour of use but that’s just my opinion on it. Hopefully this helps others if not that’s fine too!
This is really informative.. I just hope they will widen the range of phones that you can use with the OM 4 and 5 so it will work perfectly fine with middle end android phones

Nice video. My om5 was delivered today and out of the box the iPhone is always off horizontally, by quite a lot. Is there a way to permanently correct this? It’s very annoying.
Yes, there is a horizontaladjustment in the Advanced Settings. Click the three dots and go to Advanced Settings, then click the gimbal icon up top and you'll find it.

From a photography standpoint if needing to shoot in vertical orientation for certain social media requirements how do you get active track to track with the subjects head in top 1/3rd grid instead of center grid?

I have the OM 5, just be aware that due to the extension on the om 5 the battery is decent but way less than the om 4, so if you are not going to use too much the extension and budget it's important om 4 is you best choice. Shoot guides are a bit useless imo unless you are ultra beginner.

Would you be able to create a tutorial that explains better how to get the smooth shots either panning or when you track behind someone. I find that I’m struggling this type of filming.

The panning for me isn't ideal either. I'm looking at getting another one as with this one I don't find follow a suject.
