I like the subtle change where they start off with Magneto instead of Xavier. It's pretty surreal. I'm really hoping that they don't go back on his heel-face turn, as that's probably the most fascinating part of the new season. There was a moment in this second episode where I though, 'Oh, welp, guess he's going to go back to his old ways now', but I was pleasantly surprised that this was a fake-out. Two episodes in and this is already shaping up to be pretty freaking good.

I'm gonna be alone in this, I just know it, but I pray this is the one adaptation of the comics that lets Nathan be Scott and Jean's son instead of Madelyne Pryor's. I loved ScottxJean since I was a kid, and I just want that single bit of unspoken lore - that 90s Cable was a ScottxJean child - to be left intact. I understand how fans are divided over this, but please, please understand that I just want my OTP to be happy and have that moment to themselves, without outside interference.
Okay, before I have too many people up in arms, I'm gonna say this: I understand that Jean loves Cable as her own son in 616. That's good, truly, however I only learned of the comics much later, and I had already been familiar with Jean and Scott as a couple, and I personally felt no need to have them suffer the events that plagued them in the comics. I understand and respect that others have different opinions, feelings, and stances on ScottxJean, as well as Madelyne Pryor. I am not attempting to offend anyone, or attack anyone. I just wanted to express that I had high hopes when I saw Jean pregnant in the trailer, that I had hoped Jean and Scott would finally have Cable together without a clone impersonating Jean, and leaving Jean having to wait longer to have children with Scott. Seeing as the original cartoon had implied Cable was their son without Madelyne's involvement, I freely admit that, should my hopes be dashed by X-Men '97, I can seek refuge in the original. I apologize if I upset anyone, I merely felt lonely and desperate in my worries and hopes for ScottxJean.
