- In this video, I start and finish a paint-by-number kit called Eagle Hunter by Dimensions Paint Works. This is only my 3rd paint by number so there will be some chatting about the process mixed with some time lapse footage. Enjoy!

I just finished this one! Such a great image. You did an excellent job! If you want to get rid of the warping, LIGHTLY mist the painted side of the board with water. You'll see it slowly bend itself straight again!

You did a real nice job on this painting. It looks challenging with blending and mixing required. I want to try my first PBN painting again. I used to do these when I was a kid, but kits look much nicer now. Thanks!

Christine this painting is AMAZING!!! I think your blending of the water - mist turned out very very well! Great tip on the white pen - pencil to cover the numbers. I will have to give it a try! Love the time-lapse and a few words from you is a perfect mix!!!

I’m about to start painting again. I haven’t painted since my teen years. My dad taught me but he died when I was 14. I do all kinds of crafts but PBN it’s been long time. The last painting I did was Pinkie and Blue Boy and they were huge. I’m starting again after 45 years. Your blending technique is beautiful. It’s one area I never liked about PBN as it looks odd with hard lines but your blending is giving me courage to start. Thx
It's so awesome that you're giving PBN a try again! Blending can be challenging, but just try to enjoy it 😊 I haven't painted in awhile so I'm sure I've become rusty and will have to re-learn some blending techniques again! Good luck!

Your board is a little bended at the end of the finished painting, but overall is good. I have also ordered the same painting under Dimensions Paintworks and waiting for it to arrive, amazing vid to watch before deciding to buy it or not. Thanks Again 😄😄😁
Yes, it was a surprise to learn that the board edges warp after the painting is complete. I've learned it's a common problem. I've also heard that framing it will help flatten it out again, but I still haven't framed mine 😬. If you figure out a way to prevent it from happening, let me know! I hope you enjoy your painting as much as I enjoyed mine 🎨👩🎨🖌️
I guess when it is framed the photo frame can help to flatten it

@@Chngenghwa Aww, thank you!! I have two more paintings that I want to do, and I'm hoping to have some time over the holiday or into Jan. to get one filmed. I really miss doing them, but my main love us Cross Stitching so all other crafts take a back seat 😂 I have to set it up on my kitchen table since that has the best lighting, but its not the best place to leave a painting sitting out 😬 At least my kids aren't small anymore 👍
I think when you just frame the painting up then no one can really tell that it is too warped. I really hope that you can film more enjoyable Vids for painting, can't wait to try mine out 😁😁😄

I think your dry brushing looks great! Yes, with the gel pen, mine comes out a bit thick so i use a cocktail stick to spread it out a bit. The paint can cause it to lift if there is too much water either in the paint or in the gel pen (not dry). Perhaps I'll do a video of what I mean if I can position a camera correctly.

Thank you! Once I get a good handle on the blending, I'll show more of it in a video. I find the blending hard to do and it's not pretty how I got to the final result, lol!

I'm in the same boat.....I'm doing my first one....and it's a eagle catching a trout....I don't want to screw it up too much so this is awesome for me

Wow stunning, I like dimensions paintings I have done one, but the only thing is I don’t like mixing. I got myself three paintings for 2021 to do. I always wonder if and how it is going to turn out in the end mine always looks like a mess. But it turns out well in the end and step back looking at it. I would love to do time laps too but I don’t have the right equipment or know how. I love watching these keep it up good work!
Thank you! Yes, mixing is not hard, but it can get tedious. I'm glad you enjoy the time lapse. It takes extra time, but I'm always glad I did it. Happy painting!

I started this painting. The #2 paint is very translucent. How many coats will it need to cover the lines?
Also, it would be really helpful if you could show the drybrushing techniaue at a slower speed. I did it down, but was still too fast.😅

I have just ordered 3 paintings never done this before l hope l can do it, l usually do diamond painting but l thought l would do this for a change .lve been watching all the painting programs and it seem people have different techniques so how do you learn when one person say one thing and another say something else.l have spent alot out on this l hope l havant done the wrong thing. You painting was lovely it would be lovely if l could achieve something like yours sue
Beautiful! I haven't started yet on my PBN journey, although I have one ready to go. Your video really helps! And you are a cross stitcher? So am I! Have been stitching for years and still love doing it. Hope I at least like the PBN!
i'm sure you will do fine with your PBN! Just take it slow and enjoy the process :) That's great the you're a cross stitcher! Cross stitching is my main hobby and my channel is mostly a cross stitching channel ( Those videos are labeled as 'Flosstube' in case you haven't heard the term before). What types of patterns do you like to stitch?

Small tip I have learned when I used to do paint by numbers is how to put shading in the water and trees.. If you're still doing paint by numbers try to add water on the brush before dipping it in the paint it helps make the water and the trees look more real like.

@@kody3377 I have only done the 3 that I made videos of. I bought 3 more that I still need to do. Can't remember the names off hand, but the one you mentioned doesn't sound familiar.

This one is probably my most sentimental because the day I was going to finish it up my dog “Luke” unexpectedly passed away that morning so I dedicated that painting to him. Instead of TallyHo Farms I painted “Luke Farms EST. 2016” He was only 5. I have it setting on the table with his cremation box, collar, paw print & food dish plus his favorite toy. That was his memorial. If I could post photos I would show you that painting and the others I’ve done.

That's why I don't do the Dimension paintings. Even though they are high quality kits, I hate mixing and I'm horrible at it. I go with brands that don't require any mixing.

Good morning your painting looks beautiful. I did one a very long time ago, and looking to get started in this again. Just a question about the paint though. Could you just buy acrylic paint so it covers the numbers well? Might sound like a silly question, but how do you know what shade colors to buy? My biggest fear is running out of paint. Thank you for the inspiration for PBN's. Also one that is ranked 38 best seller is the dimension paintworks guilty pleasures (black lab sleeping on a couch).
Thank you! I think covering the numbers with acrylic paint might work. Worth a try. I'll have to look at the Black Lab painting as i used to have a black lab :)
@@calico_whimsy your most welcome. Just finished the painting cat signs. The black lab one is called guilt pleasures. its a 14x11 size. Doesn't look too complex. Gave cat signs as a gift to my sister I will try to take a picture of it sometime to show you.

A lot of times I take a piece of YEOOW Frog Tape and use a fine tip pen and mark the letter/number--and stick it on top--just in case the paint tips over--bottom is covered! Just FYI!

Thank you! I used mostly the one that came with the kit. I also used a few that I had on hand (I show them in the video when I'm blending the sky), but I'm not too familiar with specific brush types, since I'm a beginner. Hope that helps!

If I remember correctly, I used the brush that came with the kit for most of it! It's a nice tiny brush.
Someone gave me my first paint by number. I loved loved loved it. I couldn't wait to find time to start another one. It was the most relaxing art I have ever I ever completed. I wish I could remember name brand, the type of canvas, and how I made the paint look nice. I excitedly purchased a paint by number with similar expectations, I was very disappointed. It was awful. I am so glad I had the positive experience though. I will try again at some point. The first was something like 10x12 and it was a hard material. Did you use clear gesso before painting?
No, i just used it as it came in the kit. It does seem like it has been prepared with something by the company before putting it in the kit. It seemed to have a clear coating of something. I don't know a lot about painting, but I'm guessing maybe it was clear gesso 😊. Hope that helps!

Can yo get the gelly roll pens in Popular bookshop?
Yes, they are easy to find, but I wasn't really happy with the results it gave. I think what worked best in the end is to just go back and dab a little extra paint on the parts that the numbers show through. White and light colors are the worst!
@@calico_whimsy when I was doing my first kit if the paint by number, I thought to start of with the lightest colour like pure white first so that when you paint it wrongly then you can go over it with the lighter colours but do you think I should stick with technique or do the background first?
Good job..beautiful. suggestion...some parts of the sound was very muffled or far away. With such a complicated demo it was really difficult to hear clearly what you were saying.
I find this problem happens with some other people who present demos at times .
Thank you Joan! Also I appreciate the kind suggestion about the audio. I've really struggled to get good consistent audio levels on my phone. I've tried to remedy it by using an external mic. I've also tried to fix it in my editing program but the problem there is it sounds great to me but hard to adjust it so it sounds consistent over everybody's audio. I will continue to work on it. You might have better luck if you listen to it through headphones. Hope that helps! If you have any questions about technique, I can try to help explain what I did!
