@C Arch - I know right? Iv seen it before, but don't know why. I wonder if there are certain instances/reasons or if it's just the individual judge's discretion... That would be difficult, or at least it could be difficult.

@@ariessweety8883 I've seen attorneys tell the judge the witness sis being unresponsive. Then the judge usually instructs the witness to answer yes or no. But I've never seen a judge instigate it like this. It's somewhat annoying imo.

I was a young woman who had just graduated from sheriff's academy and then I had a weirdo who had been stalking me and then he tried to kidnap me when I was doing a few work related things far away from the middle of nowhere...I had a 357 Smith and Wesson fully loaded with hallow points that would have done what was needed to stop him from murdering me...he was very serious about getting me cornered and run off the road with no one around for miles...but I was beyond terrified by what was happening and I didn't think of using my gun I had sitting next to me...he had no idea that I was a sheriff's deputy...I never wore my uniform outside of the sub station where I worked...this was kept secret until I was put on the witness stand and was grilled by his defense attorney who had tried hard to make me look foolish and then he tried to make me look like I had been trying to get him to get together with me because he was tall and handsome and about to graduate from the Border patrol agency and that I was very aggressive in wanting to get him to be with me...no way!... but I was very upset and feeling angry with the defense team defending him..when I was being grilled about the distance between his truck and my car...then was embarrassed by the fact I couldn't describe how many feet..less than 100 ft...more than 100...one thousand?...
The lawyer was successful in making me look like an idiot who didn't know how many feet away from me and then how could I have seen him lifting up his groin and then playing with himself...was totally naked and he kept jerking off again and again...the attorney kept asking me for the number of times he had done that and then scoffed over the fact that I had seen the Jizzle splatter on his side window then he tried asking me if I had sexual relations with my husband and how many times..and if I was savvy enough to understand that what I was describing about his being able to whack off again and again..was physically impossible...it was all about ME and my being young, thin and pretty but was ME who was looking for sex with his client. I was very upset and angry about the fact that I was being grilled and treated like an idiot...then during a courtroom break after I had grilled on the wit-LESS ...My interpretation of the witness stand bcuz no matter how well you try to answer questions and are totally innocent...it's just too intimidating to be the focus of the entire courtroom...during the break my husband and I were sitting outside the courtroom and then the criminal weiner waver and his family and friends...were making gesture and whispering that they were going to get me...that I was one dead woman...I almost changed my mind about trying to get him convicted for what he did to me for the 45 minutes of his terrorism...but my husband was very supportive and urged me to keep focused on what was right and that he would do again and again...maybe will kill someone if I gave up.
What he and his supporters didn't know was that numerous fellow deputies were in the courtroom for supporting me..he'd gotten away with this too many times and if I gave up would make him even bolder...my fellow coworkers heard what they were saying and also witnessed the death threat gestures trying to intimidate me..they were very successful so far...but then it was the district attorney and prosecutors turn to question me...first things he asked me was about my marriage...10 years and then I was asked about my education and then my employment...when I stated that I was a sheriff's deputy...there were a few gasps and then very worried looks on faces...and then the criminal defense attorney stood up and made a T hand signal and then said TIME OUT...then asked to approach the bench...lots of whispers and then the judge stood up to announce that they were going to have a private meeting in the judges chamber...next thing I knew was the district attorney and prosecutors were asking me what I was willing to do...he was willing to plead guilty for a lesser degree of charges..of course I was willing to let him go with the plans for having lesser charges and I was no longer having to deal with him ever again
..but ha...his wealthy family members helped bail him out before going to prison and then he was stalking me and then intimidate me...we sold our home and moved to a very secure location..he ended up being a serious rapist in another state and I wonder if I should have been stronger than I was...stop him from harming other women...was 4 decades ago and I am still struggling with what he did to me.

Bobby Dools To me, he tries to concentrate on points that don’t really impeach witnesses on pertinent points. He just wants the jury to see some inconsistencies from them on even small points. That may have an impact during deliberations. But I agree with someone else in the comments. If they had offered her a plea to say, second degree, she should have jumped on it. There is just far too much circumstantial evidence so far. And we’re not even into the meat of the case. Her downfall, ultimately will be Home Depot. There’s no getting past that. She’s toast.

If Ashley had looked around for one last glimpse of them before she was led off, she was out of luck.

I am English, and I'm shocked at how informal the whole thing is. The first time I watched anything about the American legal system was the Johnny Depp / Amber Heard trial. Even that was quite informal, but this one is ridiculous!! How anybody expects to get a fair trial baffles me!

It really does mess up jurors if the witnesses elaborate in any way. One question to Ms. Britt was about a year/date, and she included information about the purpose of a trip (son's college), what they did (helped him unpack), what day of the week they arrived, and what day of the week they left. By that point, I'd COMPLETELY forgotten the year which was the only question that was asked. This is a simple example of how extraneous information can derail the attorneys and make the jury lose focus on the crucial bit of information that the attorneys want them to know. If this happens repeatedly, the jury starts to focus on the personality and background of the witness they're "getting to know" due to all of the extra details. It also lengthens the trial (every little bit adds up), which can cause jurors to become tired and inattentive. Some witnesses either see this as their 15 minutes of fame, or they want to be "helpful," not trusting that the attorneys and police and judge have it covered.

You're so right. He has nothing to work with. Filling time and grasping.
Ugh stop trying to get her to say she trimmed along the fence line. She trimmed three branches on one tree. Then he gets snippy with her when she won't say what he wants her to.

Wow... if I was testifying & this miserable judge kept snapping on me to "JUST ANSWER!!!! 😈" yes or no, I'd keep saying "neither of those options is the correct answer, if I can't give a unique answer I'd be guessing" for every single question

The judge was inexplicably slow to intervene or admonish (as she has has been strict to do with everyone else) Kara Britt - Ashley's aunt - when she rambled. And that witness was the one who most needed reminders to stay in topic.

Jonathan Turbide Obviously. I think that goes without saying. However, the trial is being recorded for the purposes of documentation, and it’s a bit pointless to not bother to record the evidence being shown while the camera is running and could easily be pointed in the right direction. Nobody is saying the general public is more important than the jury.

Maybe if colonel Sanders didnt speak like he was a 5 year old chewing on dirt it would have been easier to answer his questions. I would have walked off stand. Between him and the judge I would have been infuriated. If a "yes" or "no" answer is not probable to the question I would refuse to speak under oath.

I *think* they're trying to suggest that it wasn't there when the family was clearing brush, so it's possible someone else murdered her later and buried her there to try to pin it on Ashley, during a time when there is no evidence that Ashley was out there. It's a ridiculous stretch, as is most of this defense.

The aunt already stated what’s on the property. So why, why does she need to be asked “is that a barn?” “Is that a tree?” “Is that a fence?” Those questions are so stupid and ridiculous. It adds nothing to the case. Nothing. It’s just a waste of time.
