Lustro Navarros dont be jealous liberal. Demonize the rich? Whys that? could it be because youre a fucking socialist and your future depends on other people's money?
Demonize? Liberal? Friend, you overthink things. I'm stating that to accomplish the "simple" life this man has, you need to start with at least I would say.. 200,000 euro which is an unfathomable quantity of money to most of even the most developed societies. The solar panels, the time to construct such a home without needing a second job to afford just food, let alone all the supplies et cetera.. Even if he has been what you consider poor the last 40 years, he did not start out poor for certain with all these accomodations like electricity and water. Also if you're calling me a socialist just because of where I am from, Cuba, you're being really rude. You should know that no one wishes to live under dictatorship.
I was a person who thought I couldn’t live with out another human being to the point of contemplating suicide . After My divorce I had to live by myself once I realized I really didn’t need anyone else to be happy I was free. When I get a chance I tell people the best thing you can do for yourself is to not need someone else in your life to make you happy . God had a lot to do with bringing me peace.
Yea,, after the big D ,,, I learned to fly , flew my flying machine,, gyrocopter for 4 years . Took up sailing,, sailed a lot of lakes for years. Then a 4 year sailboat adventure,, blue water out of Ft. Lawderdale . So I’m not socally compatible ,,,, but life is fun !
Hmmmmm. There's an element of peace in aloneness. But self imposed aloneness is often interpreted as selfishness. Where selflessness is the joy in living.
That can be true if you don't listen to everyone trying to sell you something -- the ads all say YOU need this, YOU need to do this or that, so that you are indoctrinated with their sales pitch until you really DO think you "need" what they're selling! Then they add "you need to call RIGHT NOW, don't' wait, do it NOW! It's an art that makes the Madison Avenue ad-men very wealthy! No one just describes what they're selling today and let you decide on the merits of whether or not you need it, they pound it in to you with personal remarks pertaining to YOU, telling you to buy something! The emphasis is no longer on how good the product is, it's on YOU NEED IT RIGHT NOW! That's why I mute all commercials on TV!
but why? He doesn't know anything. He was alone for 40 years! What he knows about life if he didn't live it? You can only discuss with him about forest. I am not a hater. I love this guy but I would never ask him for advice about life.
RWB Yang - You're looking at this all wrong. For starters, 40 years alone gives him a lot of time to think. Secondly, the wise among us (at least, I'd argue they're wise) seek happiness in solitude and simplicity. Not that I'm saying that this guy in particular is wise, but if anyone is wise it is some people like him.
+RWB Yang maybe he spends his time learning and reading or writing. He lives in a very beautiful place.more than most of us can say living in these urban ugly poverty looking cities but even in the cities you have to find some beauty in it.Beauty is everywhere.you just have to look for it.I think it's great he can live like this. Most of us are to spoilt by modern living.I know I am.I have to give the guy. credit for going it alone.
You have to apply resignation to your current job, divorce to to your wife, get some warm clothes, go deep away from a remote Himalayan village (e.g. Kugti in HP), build a house and you're done. Do you have desire, guts, and ability to do so is the real question.
Chandrakar Brijesh no wife as of yet and I'm from HP myself, need to migrate a bit further is all. :)))) I keep trekking to find the right spot to station myself after quitting the job though.
If he lives out there basically doing nothing but recording the weather, how the fuck is he buying these solar panels and automatic window blinds and shit?
Maybe he lived the first 40 years of his life in normal society, saved up money, helped build the house himself or something like that. You have DIY videos for almost everything on the internet and he has satellite, so he probably had 40 years to learn how to make solar panels and other stuff.
What will happen with the other 98% of a light year(6 trillion miles) after he has spent 40 years going the 2% of a light year? Space is out of reach for man with modern technology.
What would you need it for a space program ? do you want to send him into space ? For the moment we KNOW that a human is taking irreversible and huge damage when going into space. Let's take one exemple, a human that stay 6 month in space and come back on earth have it's arteries aged for 10 years older. For your arteries 6 month into space = 10 Years on earth...That hurt, I mean a reasonable person would never go into space.
Franklin Taylor+ I'd say we are on the verge of breaking our way into interplanetary and even interstellar space. Many very interesting developments in those fields recently. It might be 50 years before we get out of our solar system, heck, it might even be 200. But none the less, we are getting close.

This is my plan, sort of…little beach house where few to no neighbors exist is my dream. As an INTJ and a natural recluse, I feel happiest and strongest when I am alone with no immediate obligations to deal with. Humans have survived and thrived as a communal species - I completely accept that - but I feel fortunate to not feel burdened by the desire to be communal. It’s not anti-social - I would help anyone who truly needs a hand - but it is nice to know that I feel best when alone with my thoughts and my life.

Mr. Billy kept himself busy with his journal and measurements of snow. Just shows if a person is bored they can find something to do that they enjoy doing.
I didn't hear about any source of income. Billy must have been a millionaire. Nice house (I wouldn't call that a cabin), beautiful picture windows with electric shades, solar panels, well-stocked supply of groceries, a library, good clothes . . . and he did go into town a few times a month for supplies.
It is not that expensive. Food costs couple hundred euros for one person for several months. He is living there for 40 years now, so there is a little bit of infrastructure. If he was working earlier and now is retired or if he worked prior the relocation and saved money, it could have been invested into something. It looks doable, especially if he doesn't pay rent, does not have a serious medical condition, etc.
If you own a piece of property outright out in the boonies, we'd probably be amazed on how little you need to get by very comfortably. He's not spending money on rent, mortgage, car payments, car insurance, cable TV, restaurants, etc. all the things we think of as "necessities".
The background noise, Some may think of as music is distracting to my old ears. Young people can distinguish between sound and words. Lots of 70+ year olds can't. More and more I'm watching less and less because even documentaries are being edited by our youth who for some reason need background noise in their conversation. I also live alone in the woods. I also love it. I'm a self made Shaman. Most people who live alone come to know themselves and the universe on a level not bonded to outside noises. We much prefer the gentle voices we are able to better hear in total silence. Sadly I stopped the Video before finishing. I did notice he's probably left hand Dominant like me. Normally left-hand people are gifted. Bless this brother.
You are spit on with the noise. The music is supposed to trigger emotional responses that are amplified by the words, or the other way around. I prefer silence too.
*shrug* I like the music because the part of my brain that filters out the sound of my blood is missing, so if there isn't noise around I can hear the blood rushing past my ears. Listening to my own blood becomes deafening and painful. It drives me crazy.
Sil G keep musical noise in your personal environment. You may not be the only person experiencing this issue because overbearing music often accompany videos. The music louder than the voice. Their was a time when background music was just that. Background music. Now it’s as loud or louder than the person speaking or birds chirping. I enjoy all nature documentary videos produced by BBC they get it right each and every time.
My grandfather lived like this. Alone in a cabin for his last 25 years. Family members bringing him supplies every few weeks. No electricity , just batteries, 2 wood stoves , a hand pump water well, outhouse. A hand antique crank style phone which he lay the wires to his nearest neighbor a mile away in case of emergency . A Scientest before he retired, smart as a whip, a library in his cabin with 1000s of books . Grew his. Vegetables, expert cook, tapped his own trees for syrup Lived his way, his terms
I'm always impressed with how some people can live alone like this without being lonely (for human contact, a partner). Or maybe they are sometimes. Then again some people can be surrounded by others yet deep down they feel kind of lonely.
Although an elder, he's presumably healthier - and happier - than many young people in "society"!

What would you need it for a space program ?

For the moment we KNOW that a human is taking irreversible and huge damage when going into space.
Let's take one exemple, a human that stay 6 month in space and come back on earth have it's arteries aged for 10 years older.
For your arteries 6 month into space = 10 Years on earth...That hurt, I mean a reasonable person would never go into space.
Franklin Taylor+ I'd say we are on the verge of breaking our way into interplanetary and even interstellar space. Many very interesting developments in those fields recently. Humans have survived and thrived as a communal species - I completely accept that - but I feel fortunate to not feel burdened by the desire to be communal. Yes he went into to town monthly..he is a civil scientist…
He must have had a substantial fund to invest in his thirties

I agree.
Totally agree, I hate background music for nonfiction
