For me, this is when bmx , freestyle etc etc, was at its absolute best, You had to commit to the trick you were trying to even try it, the heavy bike's made going high and far easier in a way ( as long as you were committed and you went at full speed) the bike actually helped you get higher and farther because of its weight, i started in 82 , and I have seen frames, forks, etc etc snapping on impact and it was scary, then the bikes stopped snapping because they were made of thicker and larger diameter tubing,48 spoke double and triple walled rims , front and rear break's, they were the key to individual style and progression, I was there when Matt Hoffman first took all his breaks off , and for matt Hoffman i get why he did it, but the current trend for a bmx to have no breaks or just a rear has taken the invention and trick progression away from riding, Plus the search for the lightest bmx bike ever is actually destroying some riders lives , 32 spoke wheels on a bmx freestyle bike are a bad idea, they buckle under impact way to often, riders are missing out on the true spirit of what freestyle bmx should be.
Agreed... And don't forget pegs
