Thanks for helping this old 80 year old ham with his Icom IC220H that I purchased 12 years ago and could never figure out how to program it for repester use.
I am a dinosaur when it comes to programming my radios---each model has its own twists and I really needed this video for my 2300--- and my sanity ---- it was excellent...thank you !
Really thanks for your video - as a foundation/entry level HAM in the uK it is my 'goto' video when i need to work my ICOM IC-2100H - i had my first contact thru my local repeater today, and your video was instrumental in helping me ! The docs are good, but your video will fortifys the learning, so thanks again ! M7ALU 73's
I just got a used one from a Silent Key as my first 2m mobile since getting my Tech license. Thank you very much for this! I can work on programming mine like I want while my co-worker drives to a job site 2.5hrs away tomorrow.
Thank you for the video. I have the IC-2000, but the steps were the same. I was confused about the + and - shift setup for the repeaters. Your video was very helpful.
Thank you for the instructive video. I just bought this radio[ actually the IC-2300H] and it arrived 2 days ago. It would have been very confusing to program it without your help, because the instruction sheet, yes a sheet, is no way near clear to do the job. I was OTA last night on simplex pileup and was able to reach 60 miles away with ease on 25 watts, The radio itself is just amazing like any other Icom. KJ7YSW
Thanks good video, I just dug the old icon 2100H out of back room closet where it’s been for many years and I had forgot about. It still works but I forgot how to use it, this will help👍
Thanks for this video. We have 17 Emergency Operation Center (EOC) radio rooms that use this radio. When someone has questions about the radio I can refer them to this video.
Why is it that when you are in vfo mode and turn on the tone, the tone icon disappears when you turn the tuning dial and you have to turn on the tone again?
Over four years later, this is video is still going strong and has helped me very much. I appreciate it. Do you have any other videos of you talking on it or anyone else talking on it in your area?
Is there a quarter size back up memory battery inside? How old is this model? Radios are like computers and phones, always have to upgrade or get left out. 73's n3lhq
Is there a way to set a negative offset? According to my spreadsheet one of our repeaters in the county transmits on a higher frequency than it receives and calls for an offset of -0.895.
@@tylerjett7726 I see...there may be an auto offset setting fighting you that may need to be turned off to get the opposite direction offset. I don't have the radio handy so I can't tell you what it might be called or how to disable it.
Thanks for the excellent video! I bought a used IC-2100H at a hamfest last week but the manual is not really helpful. Your video made programming the radio a snap. Thanks and 73! Terry, WA5ZKP
So I am trying to program my radio the alpha numeric will not come up when I hold the key down? The frequency is programed and it is memory mode, frustrated here!
Since it has been a year when you wrote this, I hope that you found the solution. The basic manual that comes with the ICOM-2300H isn't very good in my opinion. If anyone else encounters the problem above that Brian is describing, check out the advanced manual on the ICOM website: www.icomamerica.com/en/downloads/DownloadDocument.aspx?Document=568
Did you ever figure this out? I had to reset my radio and when I was trying to program the alpha numeric names for memory channels, I could not get the alpha/digit mode to come up. Holding down the ANM/Moni button only gives me 1 beep, not 2 like the manual says it should. (I have the expanded manual, and my radio USED to have alpha names on those memory channels, so I just don't get it)
HIya, I am really struggling with getting DSTAR working on my Pistar - can you help with a video on how to program a IC-2100H for either use on a pistar, or maybe digital repeater ? Many thanks in advance, AL.ze
@@SevenFortyOne long time no see, just pulled my IC-2200H out again to join a local net. FYI - you can put a D-Star chip in IC-2200H - I've not been able to reach a repeater yet which has DSTAR on it, but I have setup a DSTAR hotspot which works great (also with my IC-705). Thanks agian for this video, it is good and glad to come back to it.
Hey, great efforts, i just bought icom 2300 i can control every thing from the mic it self but all keey in the device are dead except power button. Do you have any idea how to fix this .
I'm watching this video in an attempt to understand this radio which I recently inherited. Can anyone offer advice as to why the power button doesn't move at all. It appears flush with the face of the radio and there is no activity whatsoever when I press for several seconds. Thanks
I just purchased a 2300H, and I am glad I found this very well done and very helpful video. Thanks for taking the time to make it and post it.
Have fun with your new radio! Glad the video helped!
What a lifesaver. Forget the manual, this made it simple and easy to follow/do.

This is a great video! I just got my IC-2300H yesterday and this ran through all the bells and whistles. Thanks!
I also picked one up yesterday at a Ham Tailgate - great little unit! The tutorial here is very helpful
Brilliant in its simplicity. You got me out of despair and on the air. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I know this is an older video, but it HELPED me immensely in 2019!!! A gift that keeps on giving. Thank you very much.
I was just gifted a 2200h, my first radio. Thanks for the Programming and operations tips. I've been playing wiith it for two days - this helps a lot!

A great help with my 2200H. Very clear instructions, at last I was able to make sense of my radio

Hi Rob, just bought another 2300. for the shop until the 9700 comes out. I did the mod yesterday and just hooked it up. Good vid as always.
Cool...the icom mobiles are nice rigs! I have mine in my Chevy Tahoe...I run a Kenwood tm-281 in the Toyota I drive to work.
I needed something in the shop until the ic9700 comes out and the 2300 in the van works great so why not.

Yes, you can program a non-standard offset. I may have done a video on that...if not, it's probably in the manual but may be hard to follow
