Dang this is the quickest i had ever seen a vanguard do this mission. And I've never thought of going in for the collossus like that. Thanks for showing this!
3:20 was an awesome part! I jumped out my seat after seeing that! Biotic charged him into the air then blasted the trooper with the sniper rifle in midair! Pure Badassery!
Can't show you because I don't think capture software exists for the 360, but as someone who's completed Vanguard playthroughs on Hardcore, Insanity and Insanity+, this is possible. The game doesn't change magically because the platform is different. Also, you do get 3 hotkeys on the 360. Map 'Charge' to (Y), your favorite ammos to LB/RB and go to town.
I recently did a test run of the first few ME2 levels as a Vanguard, and while it was a bit strange fighting without cover, I really liked it. The only times I messed up were the times I accidentally charged a krogan... xD
@bladerj If you have the game and read the full description of Charge it will recharge your shield's when it's used for 4 seconds. Heavy Charge, which is in use here will recharge 100% shields in 4 seconds. Area Charge recharge 75% of your shields in 4 seconds but add's an AoE knockdown. Other then that you are right, you have to be in cover for a few seconds for shields to recharge.
I have finally seen the light that is the Vanguard class. I typically just stuck to the soldier after Mass Effect and shied away from biotics. First playthrough on Hardcore as a Vanguad, though? I tore EVERYTHING up, man. Used your Vanguard guide, and I agree that the Reave build is very versatile and superior. Still haven't got the quads to charge in on that Colossus, though D:
When I played it, I used my squadmates' powers to thin the herd first, then charged in and shotgunned/punched everyone else to death. With that strategy I rarely had to retreat. And I think 2 is harder anyway - the bullets seem to hit harder than in 3, even though in 3 you can feel bullets hitting your cover too.
Gonna have to watch this a bunch of times because I'm getting curbstomped by the colossus. I can't seem to get into the cover you do without getting shot to pieces from all sides. I also have the reaper beam weapon as, my heavy, but I could always restart the mission if need be
I love watching people actually use vanguard correctly, I always run in a room throw a quick shockwave to throw some of them down, throw out a pull on that pesky one behind cover while popping shots off at the others with my carnifex and charge in a melee the crap out of the last enemy just for good measure
Pull up the power wheel whenever you want to use it, or pull it up and assign it to a one of the quick-key buttons (I play on 360, so for you it's probably L1, R1, and Triangle you can assign things to.)
O.O That is IT. I'm finally getting over my aversion to close-quarters combat and playing as a Vanguard my next playthrough, because this looks fucking AWESOME.
There's 2 ways to play it. Like a soldier, or like an adept. With the adept you pick off the stragglers and then charge in as a finishing move on the big guys. But if you play like soldier, it's all about hit and run. It's much tough in 2 when you can't just nova/chagre through the whole game.
Huh. You know, I've actually never really seen somebody use medigel just to restore shields. That's an interesting tactic; I guess there's usually plenty of it lying around during missions. Might as well make use of it. I'll have to try that on my next playthrough.
@Esthin I know. I'm mostly just butthurt that my tower died. Still haven't been able to complete a run through as Vanguard on insanity. Didn't want to lose any teeth.
Vanguard is OP, Claymore + Inferno ammo + Charge (Champion) = OP. I am unstoppable insanity was a walk in a park. I even took out the Geth Colossus easily with no problem LOL just be cautious with the enemies with flamethrowers and the goddamn Husk when they swarm you. The collectors are a piece of cake too, I had no problem with them.
Yes, but the cooldown is longer and the damage boost is lower. If you shoot right after hitting the cloak your recharge time goes down to 3 seconds, which is only slightly more than your reload time.
lol in this video your fellows are like: -Shepard, what should we d...- *BAMBAMBAM*, *sounds of geth pain* 30 seconds later, Shepard returns with Tali: -Nevermind, we ended up here, mission complete- Miranda and Garrus: -DAFUCK just happening? have you found any Geth?- Shep: -Nah...-
Great vid as always. Question: I can't get the visor you're using with the codes posted onlinle. It only allows me to choose from the first two, no matter how many times I try. I do I have to get a code off a dr. pepper?
This guy obviously has played the mission before, he knows where enemies are and cover is. When you charge and shit, you have to plan, or you'll get a bullet in your ass.
not exactly..... looks easy enough to replica, im just surprised at the dmg output. that output is what i have... currently... on casual (only in me2... not me3... nova trial)
Is your game modded? I haven't played a vanguard before, so this is just speculation, but I see you use change and then overload right after. Is it your overload or Garrus/Miranda's overload?
1:57 I really liked when that gets just stood there and let you unload in its face. Or when that Geth prime was literally standing in top of you. Or any time you were out in the open and a geth was shooting at you, but decides to stop shooting when your shields are about to go down. Or when all of the other 1000 geth didn't swarm you as you attacked the colossus. In short, you're full of shit, this isn't Insanity mode, this is a hacked game.
It was pretty awesome when I used it, now I use a more typical vanguard playstyle, although I've determined cover is for pussies I just charge, drill with smg while falling back allowing my charge to recharge and repeat.
Didn't even charge the colossus, what a casual.
*****
*the joke*
you
whoosh.gif
This guy is so good he's timing his attacks so that his shield regenerates in the middle of combat...
Holy shit, geth getting curbstomped left and right.
So many people upload crap videos of themselves playing. Glad there’s someone with skill showing what it means to dominate the game
Dang this is the quickest i had ever seen a vanguard do this mission. And I've never thought of going in for the collossus like that. Thanks for showing this!
High risk, but the priiize.
fucking love playing as vanguard. And now in me3 its even more bad ass with that fucking nova move.
Dude! You just finish the hardest mission in ME2 in less then 10 minutes. I'm really impress. Bravo!
3:20 was an awesome part! I jumped out my seat after seeing that! Biotic charged him into the air then blasted the trooper with the sniper rifle in midair! Pure Badassery!
Just like an action movie~
Won't work on giant mechs though :/

You can charge them but you probably want to throw a few warps at them first

Awesome. I just started my next playthrough to get ready for ME3 and this is really inspiring. Glad I finally saw the light and went Vanguard.
When I played it, I used my squadmates' powers to thin the herd first, then charged in and shotgunned/punched everyone else to death. With that strategy I rarely had to retreat. And I think 2 is harder anyway - the bullets seem to hit harder than in 3, even though in 3 you can feel bullets hitting your cover too.

few things in life more gratifying than the momentum of the carnage done with a vanguard with a scimitar.
O.O

Omg, this guy's got a quad. Especially considering the fact that he didn't use any of the overpowered shotguns from the item DLCs.
@Esthin I know. I'm mostly just butthurt that my tower died. Still haven't been able to complete a run through as Vanguard on insanity. Didn't want to lose any teeth.
He doesn't need charges to clear the rubble, he just needs charge.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is a proper Vanguard
And the one class I have yet to really play is this awesome...
Oh man. Now I've seen this, I can't think of my Soldier Shepard to be as awesome as I always though. Thanks for that =(
Vanguards for the win! :D The best class in the trilogy, if played properly.
This is the proper way to play as a Vanguard. Way too many people suck at it.
Vanguard is OP, Claymore + Inferno ammo + Charge (Champion) = OP. I am unstoppable insanity was a walk in a park. Still nowhere near as OP as Infiltrator.
how the fuck is an infiltrator op
Enemies are retards, properly decked cloak adds an absurd damage bonus, sniper rifle slows time for easy headshots.
Gilda Griffon adrenaline rush gives more damage and still slows time
Yes, but the cooldown is longer and the damage boost is lower.
If you shoot right after hitting the cloak your recharge time goes down to 3 seconds, which is only slightly more than your reload time.
You should have pick renegade option.
DUDE. You are GOOD.
THIS GUY IS A GOD!
LOL *BAMBAMBAM* "this looks valuable"
that was very impressive.
This guy runs like a well-oiled machine.
It takes a lot of getting used to.
@xLisranda I didn't know that--that's very useful info! Thanks, even for the late reply ;)
lol in this video your fellows are like: -Shepard, what should we d...-
*BAMBAMBAM*, *sounds of geth pain*
30 seconds later, Shepard returns with Tali: -Nevermind, we ended up here, mission complete-
Miranda and Garrus: -DAFUCK just happening? have you found any Geth?-
Shep: -Nah...-
@SonbiTal Oh, i see, thanks for correcting me.
I liked the part with the shooting.
how is this a vanguard? Where did he get a sniper rifle and all those tech/soldier skills
Cover. Always look for cover when deciding where to charge.
I......AM.......SHEPAAAARD!!!!!!!
Sounds like an odd but awesome playstyle.
Great vid as always. Question: I can't get the visor you're using with the codes posted onlinle. It only allows me to choose from the first two, no matter how many times I try. I do I have to get a code off a dr. pepper?
hell yes vanguard forever
Amazing!
thumbs up for charge + sniper rifle
Claymore has less amount of ammo, and has only 1 shot in magazine and deals very much damage.
"We should get clear."
Shut up Miranda!
*BOOM!*
...ow
Must have all your gear set to boost shields to be able to take hits like that on insanity o.O
10 foot sniping. LOVE IT
No Claymore shotgun? I thought it was the best
every time i try rush like that i just seem to get gunned down :(
5:24 dam this dude has some balls
I noticed that he was too scared to charge the Colossus though.
It can be done. No need to spam your heavy weapon on it.
Keep in mind here, it wasn't because it couldn't be done. Spam heavy is just the fastest way of killing it.
Vanguard Battle Cry: I. BREAK. STUFF!
This guy obviously has played the mission before, he knows where enemies are and cover is. When you charge and shit, you have to plan, or you'll get a bullet in your ass.
5:24 screw your moving clear Imma tank!
do you know what bottons you use to charge on ps3. sorry for the dumb question im a mass effect noob.
was it not worth switching to inferno ammo for the geth primes?
Your fucking pro at this. Infinite internetz and wimmin for you sir.
thank you
you rock!
So is Vanguard with Viper sniper rifle like the perfect soldier?
What kind of magic is this ?!
He must have adrenaline rush but in real life :P
not exactly.....
looks easy enough to replica, im just surprised at the dmg output.
that output is what i have... currently... on casual (only in me2... not me3... nova trial)
nICE!
shockwave crashed
False. In 360 you can change your viewing angle when popping up the menu (the Shift key in PC) and get a better shooting angle, PC users cant
Is your game modded? I haven't played a vanguard before, so this is just speculation, but I see you use change and then overload right after. Is it your overload or Garrus/Miranda's overload?

In short, you're full of shit, this isn't Insanity mode, this is a hacked game.
and he for some reason has a sniper rifle and tech/soldier skills or are those a game+ features
@AutoKeyblade Oh really? What about holding down the right mouse button? Get your facts straight.
It was pretty awesome when I used it, now I use a more typical vanguard playstyle, although I've determined cover is for pussies I just charge, drill with smg while falling back allowing my charge to recharge and repeat.
The shotgun you're using, is it the claymore or the scimitar?
Not hard to do on 360.
1-16-13 1053pm
Lol shit gets crazy at 7:40
this has to be modded, his shield reload after using the charge, the shield never reload while you are using habilities.
@MrJonathan107 Not nearly as fun though.
@whman17411 scimitar
5:23 and not a single fuck was given
Meh. Sentinel does it just as well.
Don't you 360-ers have your fancy auto aim stuff?
@jessicaR4bbit Buy a pc then...
You're not doing it right then. I play Xbox and I can easily so what this guy is doing.
PC players have it so easy -.-
Try doing this on a 360 and your dead in 10 seconds.
Epic
