      @@Mindvalley Ronan, I'm a hardgainer. Last couple years I leaned a lot about how to train properly. But my achilles heel has always been nutrition. I cannot eat a lot and the Venn diagram with the group division you made, brought clarity for me.
      I never thought about combining protein rich carbohydrates with protein sources. And that makes it so much easier to eat all the protein during the day.

      Andre Luis CaR for sure, man. I’m happy to know. For a hard gainer, and I speak from personal experience, besides getting your daily protein you’ll find helpful to add some items from the fat domain to increase calories overall without feeling too full. Cooking with some ghee or coconut oil and adding nuts or nut butters here and there can help add a considerable amount of calories with less of the sensation of fullness that carbs would give you.

    Question - I use olive oil all the time but some recipes I want a less specific tasting oil so what about flax seed oil instead of coconut or olive oil? Better than sunflower oil? Or...?

      As for your question, look for a cold pressed option for the flax seed and it should be better than the refined, processed options. Still, particularly for flaxseed oil, you want to consume it raw because it degrades easily with heat (or light).

      By the way, have you tried cooking with ghee? It’s my favorite option for the nutritional value and it’s also tasteless.

      As for the oil, I do have the unrefined cold pressed organic flaxseed but I didn't realize about the heat - very good to know. I appreciate having the reference guide which I will definitely be using thank you.
      I never have used Ghee but I will now. That's awesome information as usual - many thanks! 😊

      I'm a vegan and the best protein sources for us is beans and legumes. Things like cannelini beans, green peas, sweetcorn, kidney beans etc.

    Hey Ronan! I am currently in a deficit and count my macros and calories everyday. what percentage would you recommend to eat of each of the macros? You suggested less carbs and more fat but could you specify a little bit more with some numbers please? Love the videos!

      Hey Kimps, Ronan here. I don't necessarily think about percentages if I'm tracking macros. I think about grams relatively to your bodyweight. This is the way I think about macros for burning fat, in a nutshell:
      - protein at 2.2g per Kg approx
      - total calories at about 500Kcal deficit to get started and see how the body responds
      - carbs and fats can be at any ratio as per personal preference as long as: 1) total calories and protein is achieved and 2) fats will never be lower than 0.5g per Kg
      I did a cutting phase last year and the way I set that up for myself, in the beginning, was like this:
      - 2150 Kcal
      - protein 165g
      - fats 70g
      - carbs 215g
      This was the beginning, so carbs started higher and progressively decreased through the cutting phase.
      How are you doing for yours?

      @@Mindvalley Thanks a lot for your answer, this is super helpful for me! I am taking it slower with the deficit by gradually lowering my calorie intake (currently at 200 below my maintenance level. During this period I have managed to build muscle and lose fat at the same time which is really awesome! I am currently at around 12% body fat and my goal is to get down to 8%. Your info will definitely help me reach my goal :) Cheers for that and I look forward to more content from you! Peace

    Is it bad if intermittent fasting is not consistent? What will happen if one day I eat within an 8 hour window but the next I might eat in a 12 hour window? Is it bad In any way? Loved the video and the outfit btw!

      Hi Deeksha, Ronan here. Good to get an intermittent fasting question, I love this subject :) it’s not a bad thing if your fasting takes 16h in one day and 12h in the other. Especially if this is what fits your lifestyle best.
      But if you’ve been hungrier than normal, or gaining weight when you don’t want to, then having a more regular feeding window can be one of the things that will help.
      Do you feel fine when your fasting is not regular or do you feel hungrier or more tired for instance?

      Hi Darshana, Ronan here. Thank you for your comment, I appreciate it :) about the oil, when it’s cold-pressed it’s usually a much better product from a health standpoint. Still, if you can investigate a bit more about their manufacturing process and check whether they add any preservatives, or other ingredients, then you could have a clearer picture. What does the label say about ingredients and manufacturing process, if anything?

And please make a video that a vegetarian how to include fat and protein in their meals so that they can loss them fat easily..

      yes I watched it and it is very essential so that I will recall again. Because My hight is 4.11" and weight is 76kg ..I am following intermittent fasting 16/8 windows and my age is 47.

      @@darshanadani7498 you got this :) if you concentrate most of your nutrition on the protein-carbs intersection (beans, legumes, etc) and keep the carbs leaning into the high fiber, low sugar side, I think that can make things easier to get enough protein and also lose fat. I'm assuming from your name and question about being a vegetarian that you're from India or Indian descent - please forgive me if I'm wrong. But for most of the Indian clients I've worked with I saw that what brought an excessive amount of calories to their diets was combining carbohydrates with fat. Some of them would increase the amount of lentils to get more protein but it would always come with a high amount of ghee or butter, like dal makhani, which increase calories quite a bit and prevented fat loss. Also the fried recipes with flour like chana bhatura and others bring this combination and they can definitely slow down fat loss.

    Since olives are essentially made of carbs and fat, should we then not eat them as is & just consume olive oil (to remove the carbs)???

      You eat olive oil to improve the taste and nutrition in your food by sauteeing it etc. It's not about removing the carbs from whole olives.
      Real whole foods, like a whole chicken has skin and tons of fat, which get removed by the time we buy them. So you fry your food/add olive oil so that you replenish that fat. It tastes good and satiates you.
      You don't need oil if you're eating boiled eggs, for example.
      Now since you're replacing the missing natural fats, it should be only replaced by other fat. Not whole olives, but olive oil.
      As long as you're eating whole foods, you're all good. Usually very few whole foods have high carb which is just how nature works.

My question is more directed towards the idea that since nature doesn't prioritize fat+carb combo, does that make the actual olive less "healthy" option than extra virgin olive oil, due to its carb content...
      Since i switch regulary between keto/carnivore, I'm wondering if i should eliminate olives from my salads & just stick to the Extra virgin olive oil?!?

      Hi Eva, Ronan here. Olives are fine to be consumed. Here’s why: they do contain carbs but it’s a very small amount if compared to fats. Plus, most of the carbs from olives is fiber and not sugar. This is the same case as avocados, peanuts, almonds and many other food items.
      Actually, the majority of foods have some amount of carbs, fats, and protein at the same time.
      But the foods that I place on that bridge connecting carbs and fat are the ones that are rich at both at the same time. A food that has a high amount of carbs in form of sugars and a high amount of fats at the same time is the one that makes you more likely to overeat.
      Does it make sense?

      Eva V also, the olives in your salad probably won’t never be an issue. I see that you’re following a keto diet. In your case, it’s not just about whether or not something has carbs but how much carbs it has and whether they’re fiber or sugar. In the case of olives, the amount of carbs is small and most of it is fiber :)

    The best food in the world is Italian. Not because is so famous because in fact is healthy and fast to prepare. It's fresh and often by 0 km, not burnet, for instance, pasta and salad are seasoned with fresh oil with olive. Italian people usually don't eat fast food. By the way I'm not Italian ;)

      Pasta is pretty much fast food if you have higher standards.
      It's better than pizza and burgers obviously, which is the pinnacle of gluttony. But pasta is still too processed to call real food

Fast to cook, it's enough to add a little bit of oil of olives and parmesan. Trust me it's healthy, simple and tasty 😋😋😋
      I'm not talking about pasta which we can buy in fast food places, That one has additional ingredients 😉😉😉

It is a quick food to prepare but at the same time genuine and without food preservatives. it's simple, for example: aqua, salt, pasta, olive oil, parmesan a that's it. Comparing it to Polish food which is always taste it is lighter and is digested more easily, in short, it does not weigh on the stomach ... yeah but of course it can be long and interesting discussion if you want.       Hi, Ronan here. Yes, you can definitely do that. It’s not as easy or fast to build muscle and gain weight when you don’t give your body enough carbohydrates though so it’s going to be a slower process that will take a bit more effort.

      @@Mindvalley i found it interesting you explained about the 3 different proteins fats and carbs how i didnt realise that you could get fats from the same group as ive tried to loose weight in the past and now realise i was eating double amount of fat and carbs and struggled to loose it .
      It would be interesting to see how many fats carb and protein in a portion (eg on a plate ) what size is a portion eg 1chicken brest is that classed a 1 portion or chop is that classed as 1 portion
      I dont really understande the daily quotes on food packages as it will say your daily intake . Thats where i get lost so i just eat

      Hey Sarth, Ronan here. I’d place something like 90% and higher on the fat dominant side. The others I’d place on the carbs + fat bridge on top. Of course you can always be very specific and look at the ingredients to see whether or not a specific chocolate has sugar and how much it has. But in general terms, I think that’s reasonable.
