F😒😒k..... I just got a D800+ why do you do this to me Mesa I’m going to go broke because of you. I need to get me one. Mesa if you ever need to give one away for what ever reason I’d be happy to help you with that lol ( maybe a subway 115 as well). Thank you for the demo. Stay safe guys.
This class d stuff is great, but re release those REAL 1980's tube heads like the d 180 or the bass 400, these class d units sound great, but nothing will compare to those classic tube ones.... make them in the usa, call them the heritage series, use nothing but the best components... no ch*nese capacitors, all United chemicon and spurge caps like you used to use back in the day... Ill gladly fork over $1,500 to $2,550 for a new handwired usa made full tube d180 that looks and sounds exactly like the original or even better. It appears you still use united chemicons for your filter caps in your class d stuff, thats a good sign, though this is no fully blown vintage mesa tube amp, it's still better then 95 percent of whats out there. That's for sure. I still might go for it as its the next best thing.
I’ve been doing my research on this and many have said it’s really up there with the tube 400+. Some guy even complained how the tube one has had so many repair issues with tubes, etc, etc. This tt800 one is under estimated because it’s labeled as class D but doesn’t sound like it in person. I just ordered my self one, luckily found one at a small shop as they are sold out/back ordered nation wide rn.
Exactly, they need to reissue their 80s tube stuff, and start making them handwired with quality parts back here in the usa, idc if they would end up being $1650 for a d180, I'd buy that in 321... as long as it's done right with no ch*nese crap.
@@analogaudiorules1724 Yea, I'd drop $2000 for something like that, USA made tho, for sure. I use a 400+ and love it! And I've been thinking about picking up a 400 as well.
Having owned a Dual Recto for almost 20 years, to this day, it surprises me the tones you can get from it. I'd love to get a nice boogie bass amp in the studio just for their tone shaping alone. You'll have a never ending journey of new tonal discoveries.
HEY Mesa! How about a Long-Overdue Update?!? Sheesh!! This video is 4 YEARS OLD!!! Surely, there have been upgrades/updates since then! I could be wrong, but I'm guessing a high number of people have explored/entered the market in the last 4 years! Marketing Dept.?!?
For future people: went TT800 and haven’t looked back. Absolutely everything I could want in a tiny package and has become my favorite DI as well both for stage and studio.
I know I'm late to the party on this one...I watched the video several times, and I still don't understand symmetrical/asymmetrical clipping section. Don't you have to drive the output stage hard enough to get it into clipping before that knob has any effect? Or is the clipping in reference to the input stage clipping instead? In the video, the master volume knobs are barely on..
Nice try Mesa but no where near the real B400 + and it s 12 6L6 es . I owned 2 of em and till today its Sound and Raw Power is untouched by any other Amp.
The interactive EQ gives you a "warmer, fuller, more bloomy sound". I hoped, by now we'd be over that kind of buzz-word BS. Apparently not. The amp sounds killer though.
Eh. "Bloom" is a descriptor that makes sense. I guess the alternative is them not making any attempt to describe the sounds of their products, but people would complain about that too.
Graham Rausch Well, EQs don’t make stuff “bloom”. Also it’s a RUclips video and not a magazine add, you don’t have to describe the sound. Just play it.
Bloom is what happens when amp compression has kicked in upon initial attack, and starts to return to the release point causing notes to expand with character and even a bit of volume as the compression unclamps. It's an actual aural descriptor with a well known meaning among those who are aware of such things.
Great demo. I'm about to order a Subway rig incl TT800 witha 210 & 115 cabs but i do like the look of the 215 cab but cant make my mind up. Not really heard the TT800 with a 215 cab.
I've been playing the WD800 with a Subway 2x12. Main bass is a passive Precision Bass. I always get my desired tone with that head with all the grind I need and plenty of great tone and power to spare.. I am looking forward to receiving thisTT800 head and possibly a subway 4x10.
I purchased and sold the last 3 “new” Mesa bass amps. Totally underwhelming. I ended up just getting a 400+ and oh man.... This doesn’t sound anything like it. Sounds thin and weak. It’s like a soy burger! NEXT
Hey, thanks! No, I’m listening through speakers too. Just not my cup of tea. For me and my taste, the 400+ checks all the boxes. The Subway amps just don’t do it for me. I will give it a try when my local shop gets one. Cheers!
@@raulplaysbass4865 and to be fair, I'm borrowing a 400+ this weekend to run it in channel two to have a real A/B comparison. I love testing this stuff. :-)
How many times are they gonna say "bloom"? My lord does that sound stupid. No bassist talks about "bloom" so stop trying to make it a "thing" unless by "bloom" they mean "sounds like shit".

Why do Mesa demos always sound like absolute ass? This sounds NOTHING like a Bass 400. It sounds like a stereotypical modern Mesa, smiley-face scoop baked in, no balls, no warmth, no thickness, no tone!
Anyone thinking this amp will sound like the 400+ will be disappointed. But what's nice is out of the same amp, you can get amp with a fast attack and clarity plus a slower attack rounder sound. Now that they added some preamp tubes to the Subway channel this should helps put a little roundness into this channel as well but not as significant as the Boogie channel. I absolutely loved my 400+, but it was so heavy. As I am getting 20 years older, I just don't want to lug something that heavy around anymore. But I agree it's one of the best sounding amps on the planet
noooo... what's with all those knobs, switches and options... there's hundrets of one-box-does-everything amps out there, what we're missing is amps with true character. if this was just like a newer version of the rock solid, characteristic and just overall awesome bass 400 + i'd throw you all my money without even hesitating but all those little knobs and switches are just sooo far away from any rock'n'roll mindset.
@@MyLow6String I'm talking about the overall engineering mindset behind an amp like that. You get the two channels, the bunch of options and all the little dothats wich is great if you're the kinda guy for an amp like that. But some people just want an amp with the right kind of sound charakter that doesnt even need all that tweaking and that does the one thing it does like noone else can. Mesa used to be great with that and i feel they lost that rocknroll attitude completely. if it's the right fit for you guys, that's awesome!! I'm back on orange and ampeg and not really looking back to all those space shuttle amps coming out lately
@@MrStarClash You see that's why I didn't even look at Mesa back in the day, I thought it was just "too metal". These amps are versatile. That's their point.
@@CordScott yeah i absolutely understand that of course. I'm more of an all-tube, brutal bulldozer-amp kind of guy so i hate to see mesa leave those behind more and more. For me the old B400+ was one of the best bass amps to ever be constructed and still gets crazy prices on the used market, even with defects, so i can't be the only one missing those. But if the newer lineup fits your needs, i'm the last guy to not be happy for you!
Andy's definitely ruined Mesa's bass amps. No character, no grind, no mids, no thickness, no grunt, no identity, no balls, no usable distortion. They are a Genz clone now. Useless. And HPF gimmicks suck ass.
Disagree. First, they sell like crazy. I love them but I don't like grind either First if you've every played bass through a large enough system, the foh engineer is applying HPF to you bass and its probaby doing thorugh class D. If you like to push alot of 60-80hz this hpf can help you create an asymmetric filters and save the speaker. . My d800+ has way more heft than my other amps, but at the end of the day these are just stage monitors.
If HPF is a gimmick, why is it built into the vast majority of bass amps? Not knowing it's there in other amps due to a lack of variable control doesn't make it a gimmick. And if you use one in a room, you understand how useful it is. Also, these are far from GB clones - coming from someone who has played both. In any case, sounds like you should stop whining and find another brand if the product development makes you this upset.
