  • Testing with my older desktop. Game runs fine but FSR@75% resolution is necessary to average 60fps with ultra settings. This area of the game is one of the hardest to run so the frame rate will be a good bit higher in other areas. Frame rate is also 2-5fps higher when not recording.

    3700x and a 6700XT is roughly what a Series X is and it just proves that the game can be run at 60FPS on the Series X even if it is at 1080p. I'll take 1080p 60FPS over 4k30FPS any day.

    Hi bro, nice video as always! I wanted to ask your opinion. In your opinion, will all the new games to come out be like this in terms of requirements and heaviness? Is it possible that my rx 6750 XT bought not even a year ago will already be old for the new releases? Or do you think this was an exception?
    I have an RX 6750 XT and an R7 5800x3D, not top hardware for playing at all resolutions, but it has always given me top performance at 1080p on almost all games, and on this new game I now find myself not exceeding 55 fps

    • @craig71686
      @craig71686  10 месяцев назад +1

      I think it's just newer games coming out with upscaling in mind. They aren't optimizing them as well at time of release. The performance will most likely improve with patches. I think you should be fine with a 6750XT at 1080 for awhile yet. Especially running it with a 5800x3D.

    so I have these parts (3700x and rx 6700xt) and my main issue with the games is that I get constant stutter when walking around, more so in the cities which I understand but also is closed areas too like the wolfs den and Deimos station, and whenever I start a fight the game freezes several times and the bullets don't fire for a few seconds after. I also deal with the audio and desyncing which just ruins the immersion. Any suggestions would be gladly welcomed (FYI I'm playing the game via Xbox game pass)

      Someone else commented on this video with the same issue and it turned out to be an issue with their SSD. They said installing a new one fixed the issue. Not sure how many drives you have but this computer has a drive for the OS and a separate one for games.

    You need to try this card with the fx 8320. I don’t have any modern amd cards to try on my setup but your fx is pretty much matching my 10900k with a similar card. Fx performance will increase hugely if you can balance the memory, cach and ht link. They really weren’t any worse than a 2500k back in the day if you knew how to tune them. Power usage wasn’t an issue for most people then and modern coolers will easily handle them overclocked.

    • @craig71686
      @craig71686  10 месяцев назад

      This test is actually with a Ryzen 7 3700X and not the FX processor. The 6700XT actually gets a little CPU bottlenecked with my 3700X in this game and some others. The FX processor would be a major bottleneck with it. My computer with the FX processor has a GTX 1650 with it because they are pretty balanced as far as performance goes.

      @@craig71686 I'm literally at the bench now testing the game. I've gone from 30fps locked at 1080p low to over 50fps. I found the game runs best with 4 cores on the 10900K. The GTX 1060 hasn't gone over 85% usage yet. I can definitely squeeze more out. I think it's the 8mb cache that would hold the FX back and being stuck on DDR3 ram. I've got to put a video together of what I've done before I start playing with fast ram and timings etc.

    • @craig71686
      @craig71686  10 месяцев назад

      @@theHardwareBench yeah there is the DDR3 RAM plus it only has PCI Express 2.0. Digital Foundry did discover that Starfield doesn't fully utilize Intel processors properly but it does with AMD processors. However, Hardware Unboxed found that Intel processors seem to outperform their direct AMD competition by a good margin. The game seems to be more memory sensitive. Intel processors do tend to have better memory controllers.

    • @theHardwareBench
      @theHardwareBench 10 месяцев назад

      @@craig71686 Hardware unboxed don't know much about tuning though, their idea of overclocking is just ramping up the cores. I've got a Ryzen X570 setup on a ROG Hero board to test but with this game my guess is the operator is going to be as important as the actual hardware. PCIe 2.0 makes zero difference on cards lower power than a GTX1070ti, I've benched the slots myself, by which time the CPU is the bottleneck. I even benched a GTX1070 using the x8 slot on PCIe3 once and it pretty much made no difference. As a rule you will run out of CPU well before you run out of PCIe. Apart from Buildzoid and De8auer I don't pay much attention to anyone else's RUclips overclocking results. They are the only 2 overclockers on RUclips higher than me in the league. There are a couple of others I've actually benched LN2 with that do the odd video but they would never bench games. To them overclocking is the game.

Yes, I did just get the gpu for it came with the game. Was on a 1080ti so know very little about AMD gpus. Was curious if you had any gpu settings I could adjust or maybe I'm missing something very simple? Appreciated.

    • @craig71686
      @craig71686  11 месяцев назад

      I haven't had any freezing but this machine does have a fairly fresh install of Windows 11 on it. Something you could try is Display Driver Uninstaller. It will allow you to completely wipe the old drivers off your machine. You may want to run it to remove any traces of Nvidia drivers, then the AMD ones. After that do a fresh install of the newest AMD drivers. I would recommend you watch a video on how to use it first though.

    Problem with this game seems to be that it has really poor graphics scaling. Going from ultra to medium would result in a 50% performance imorovment in other games, but here its just like 20%. So the only way to save your fps if you dont have a 6800 xt for 1080p is to aggressively upscale which is what more and more game studios seem to rely on for their mess of a game
