I'm 52 and I'm right there with you. I have a family and my kids are all over the age of 18 with 3 of them still at home plus the wife doesn't work. I love my family but things are not changing and it's like they know things need changing but instead the blame each other and don't want to change things. Biggest problem in one word? ADDICTION.

In a nutshell F'ed over from an O-3 to an O-5. Otherwise I miss being in the Army but when I retired about 4 years ago I knew I was getting old and not flexible enough for things too much more. So I just said it's time to retire.

I wanted to add that when I lived in Idaho, I heard a number of homeless tell me its illegal to be homeless. They'd try to hide at night and sleep during the day by looking like they're reading a book or whatever. I met several who were NOT addicted to anything. They'd ask for money so they could stay warm at places like McDonald's who have discrete rules that you can only stay there as long as you're ordering within each 30 minutes! That's probably changed stricter since rents went up. The home I used to live in now costs more than the two of our income combined! How are folks doing it! I REALLY need to know. My husband is back on hospice again.
So for me it's your laugh, it's totally contagious. I also really think that people totally appreciate a person who can go against the norms of society and be successful with their goals. People are tired of going along with societal norms yet getting nowhere. I think people are beginning to realize the lies that media feeds them and are starting to realize there are other ways to live life on your own terms. I wish folks would start raising a new generation of children that are - not spoiled, not given everything they never had as a child, raised as thinkers who are not indoctrinated into what our parents beliefs are, allowed to take a different path in life. Because you Anthony are proof that material items and social norms are not necessary in order to be healthy and happy and folks are drawn to you for that.

The first thing I realized when I quit traditional work was. I had to tell myself to slow down doing simple things like walking my dogs or going to to the store. I would literally catch myself telling myself self to slow down. Traditional work makes you rush through life without you realizing it until you dont have to anymore. I'm 52 and I'm right there with you. I have a family and my kids are all over the age of 18 with 3 of them still at home plus the wife doesn't work. I love my family but things are not changing and it's like they know things need changing but instead the blame each other and don't want to change things. Biggest problem in one word? ADDICTION.

@@colinlarson9656 if you're still in the military then stay in till you get your 20 in. I'm retired Army got 17 active and total of 30 years. Why 3 years short? In a nutshell F'ed over from an O-3 to an O-5. Otherwise I miss being in the Army but when I retired about 4 years ago I knew I was getting old and not flexible enough for things too much more. So I just said it's time to retire.

I wanted to add that when I lived in Idaho, I heard a number of homeless tell me its illegal to be homeless. They'd try to hide at night and sleep during the day by looking like they're reading a book or whatever. I met several who were NOT addicted to anything. They'd ask for money so they could stay warm at places like McDonald's who have discrete rules that you can only stay there as long as you're ordering within each 30 minutes! That's probably changed stricter since rents went up.
The home I used to live in now costs more than the two of our income combined! How are folks doing it! I REALLY need to know. My husband is back on hospice again.

So for me it's your laugh, it's totally contagious. I also really think that people totally appreciate a person who can go against the norms of society and be successful with their goals. People are tired of going along with societal norms yet getting nowhere. I think people are beginning to realize the lies that media feeds them and are starting to realize there are other ways to live life on your own terms. I wish folks would start raising a new generation of children that are - not spoiled, not given everything they never had as a child, raised as thinkers who are not indoctrinated into what our parents beliefs are, allowed to take a different path in life. Because you Anthony are proof that material items and social norms are not necessary in order to be healthy and happy and folks are drawn to you for that.
Anthony when I saw the title for this video I said “what has this man done!” Then I watched the entire video and I saw the complete JOY in your face. I don’t know who’s smile was bigger. Yours or mine. What I do know is that I am happy and excited for you. You only have one life to live and we should all love it to the fullest!! The first thing I realized when I quit traditional work was. I had to tell myself to slow down doing simple things like walking my dogs or going to to the store. I would literally catch myself telling myself self to slow down. Traditional work makes you rush through life without you realizing it until you dont have to anymore.
