hearing you talk about putting on a binder when you get to school gave me a huge throw back to when I used to go school in a skirt and bra and then change into trousers and a binder in the school locker room back in like 7th grade. damn its wild to see how far I've come (even if it is taking longer than it should to get my testosterone prescription)

Same. From 1-5 grade I wore a lot of "girly" clothes. I was one of those popular girl. I was always had to put on a cat it sucked. I 6th grade I cut my hair and wore the clothes I was comfortable. Every thought I was a new kid 😭. Awkward. But ya, my glow up was big. ")

You don't have to come out is such an important thing to say. I stayed in the closed for all of high school and I only started transitioning right before going to college. I didn't have a good enough safety net in high school and I don't regret staying in the closet at all. I just wasn't ready and that's okay

please for the love of everything, don't wear your binder during pe/sports!! one of my kids had to go home sick bc they ran in their binder
yes! If you need to bind in pe/athletic activities I would recommend transtape or a compression sports bra. Transtape is a good option for some, but it takes a while to get used to and you have to buy it again and again.
But I have to. I can't I just can't let anyone see me without one
@@internetaccounttt Maybe try changing in stalls? Or find some way to get around it. It's really bad to exercise in a binder. If you're like me and never actually do anything in PE, you can get away with it, but definitely avoid binding on days where you have to do lots of exercise (Ex. Running a mile, pacer test)
My solution was to start highschool with homeschooling lol
Hey if locker rooms and restrooms bug you, talk to your counselor to see if you can change or use a bathroom thats in the nurses office. If not, hopefully your counselor has other ideas
my school has 80 people in the highschool side. There is no nurse.

this is essentially going to be one hell of a paragraph in regards to both it’s length and the pure chaotic energy so uh,, guess that’s a thing?
basically, i just wanted to say that,, ashton, your videos were a huge part of why i got the courage to come out to my teachers at the start of the school year. i’m just a freshman so i’m still very much babey status™️, but essentially, because of you, i was able to enter highschool using my correct name and pronouns, and for this i’ll be eternally grateful.

I'm not trans, but I'm a masculine lesbian, but I've always just dressed super feminine because I didn't want people to think differently of me. But I ordered some masculine clothes from the men's' section for the first time with some of my birthday/Christmas money. I'm really excited to start expressing myself, but I'm still super nervous about how people will see me. I'm going to try not to care about what people think, but it's gonna be hard. I'm afraid people are going to think I'm a guy or realize I'm gay since I'm not out to everybody.
Well, theres a reason theres a term called "Tomboy" hehe. Just where what you want to wear and try to just be yourself and be happy. Loving yourself is way more important than what others think or say

I'm pansexual and closed trans I was born female but I want to be male but I'm scared to this is my grist year in high school at a new school I would act fake just so I would "fit in". Ik my family will support me 100% but being transgender is a lot of money and I don't want them to spend over 50,000 dollars on me or really any money ok school clothes and stuff like that, that isn't to expensive I'm ok with. You get what I'm trying to say? But I need help idk what to do anymore
@@vampiresforlife8224 Pro tip: Don't compromise who you are for others' comfort. Being openly trans =/= being a burden on your parents. You can tell them that you don't want them to spend much money on you. You could get a part-time job, or mow lawns, and pay for your own clothes. Don't waste your high school years acting like someone else, you'll never get that time back.
When I came out at school I faced more transphobia from some teachers than from most students (except a very small % people the majority of students in my year were supportive). I had to fight the school for more than half a year to have my name changed, they still don’t allow me to use the guys bathroom and some teachers were rude to me and refused to call me my new name when I came out (one of them still doesn’t use my name even though its now officially changed in the system) it was pretty disappointing but I did have 2 great teachers who I’m so thankful for, they were really supportive and helped me deal with the transphobic teachers.

I'm nonbinary but I still have to get confidence in that identity because I heard so often that nonbinary people are just being special snowflakes that I'm scared I'm just imagining everything even though I know better
Also I'm scared to come out in school because my best friends already came out as trans and I'm scared people are gonna think I just want attention and I know better. But I'm just not that confident in my identity yet so I need time
But sometimes I think how cool it would be if people would just see me as who I am

That's exactly how I feel, I'm a Demigirl and genderfluid (also trans and obviously nb) and I've changed my pronouns so many times in the past week. Right now I've settled on she/they. I just came out last Monday and I've already lost a friend (she said she was nb but now I'm not so sure considering how she treated me)

@@scoobyjew9491 demigirl is when you partially identify as female and partially as another gender, genderfluid is when your gender identity is fluid and can change at any moment, and neutrois is gender neutral and/or genderless.

as a russian person I'm so jealous of trans people on America. we don't have any lgbtq organisations connected to schools. most of teachers and kids are extremely transphobic. I am about to change schools and I really want to ce out but I think being misgendered and forced to go to the girl's bathroom will be crucial and even worse than being closeted. I'm happy for people who have more opportunities, but at the same time, really jealous

I came out at 12, I'm now turning 18 in 3 months!! I know this was from a whileeeee ago, but you're not too young to know. I knew since 3rd grade and only came out at 12, and I've been identifying as male since since I was like 10 or 11, and openly been identifying as male since I was 12, nothing has changed there except me getting more comfortable in myself and more confident at most times!!! I’m not allowed to the girls or the boys toilets 😔 the only disabled toilet is OUTSIDE on the yard in a little cubicle and I have to walk across the whole school if I need the toilet, once I got told of for taking so long. There are multiple gendered toilets and I don’t see why they don’t just make one of them a genderless toilet

There's this kid who harrasses me in my class who i genuinely feel bad around. It's so weird for me because he's genuinely everything i ever wanted to look like. My friend who is queer but cis doesn't understand how i could be envious over someone who bullys me so i totally agree with having someone else who is trans to share your experiences with.

I had an awesome homeroom teacher . He corrected people using the wrong pronouns for me and he went out of his way to make me feel safe. He literally emailed all of me teachers telling them to use the right pronouns and name. Anyway I moved schools for like two days then transferred back and in those two days he quit lol

My trans related school advice is to try school for like two weeks every single year then give up and do homeschool. No, but stay safe and know you're loved, despite what you might be hearing 💙💙 like Ashton said, find your support group, they'll help so much. Another way to find groups like that is through a school counselor (especially if you have a wellness center with an actual counselor instead of a guidance counselor). When i came out to my wellness center therapist, she gave me info on a secret group, you have to learn about it to join, and without this reccomendation years ago, i wouldn't have found all my friends now.
I chose my college because they had gender neutral restrooms. Other schools in the area did not have them. I am so glad I made the decision I did.

Thanks you so much! I am going into highschool very soon and have been nervous so this helps. I really needed to here the thing about coming out. It would not be very safe for me to come out right now and even though I very much want to my parents are transphobic. People romanticize coming out and it shows. Of course it is amazing but it can push people to come out before they are ready. I am very excited for highschool too though because I think it will be much easier to find trans people to look up to and a community and maybe I can even have a group of friends I am completely out to. I won't be able to cut my hair or go in hormones or anything until I move out but at least I have a wonderful community to support me. I am out to 3 people though and they are supportive but not of them are trans. Thanks for the advice!
You can start with searching for and using flat chest subliminals to get that taken care of even before starting any other parts of the transition and lots of guys don't have very short hair so you can just change your style so it's not too female without cutting it super short.I'm female at birth and identify as non-binary and am currently using flat chest subliminals myself to go flat chested like a ten year old boy.

@@scoobyjew9491 ok so it basically means nonbinary (short forms can be enby or nb, depends on person to person) transmasculine, which is someone who identifies outside of the gender binary but is also transitioning to look/be perceived to be more masculine compared to their assigned gender. Hope that helps!

@@scoobyjew9491 no, tomboy is a term used for masculine women, while transmasculine/trans men are terms for people who disassociate from their assigned gender, transitioning to more masculine or manly person via testosterone, surgeries, or just basic changes like voice, wardrobe, etc. They're just dudes with a complex understanding of gender, whether they were born a dude or otherwise.

Thank you so much for this! I’ve been convincing myself that a lot of my dysphoria is either an overreaction or insignificant because if I can deal with it, it’s fine, right? But it’s really helpful to hear that it’s not something I have to ignore. Also, just thank you in general for being someone on the internet who is proud and trans and not ashamed of it because it constantly seems that being non binary is a burden on society and I know that the people making me feel this way might not mean it, but that almost makes it worse because they’re trying to not make it a burden and it still is, but I’m getting off track. Thank you for being unapologetically you because seeing someone who isn’t ashamed of being trans helps me realize that I don’t have to be ashamed either, and if people don’t know how to accommodate me that’s their problem, not mine. So thank you.

the LGBTQ+ positive teacher at my school is loopy. but we did get the art teacher to helps us with a club so we didn't have to deal with the wack of a teacher that is the LGBTQ+ person.

Here’s my coming out to both my mothers story
During Christmas I got a gift card for bed bath and beyond. So I went on my computer to order stuff from bed bath and beyond, and my mothers didn’t know I was trans ftm at that time so, I bought a giant trans flag. Later on that night my moms could see what I purchased and they saw the giant trans flag. They asked me why I purchased this and if I was hiding something from them. Then I said “surprise you got a new trans child” while I was crying thinking they wouldn’t accept me. They asked why I was crying and I told them “that I was afraid for them not accepting me then they started getting teary eyed and hugged me so tight and told me “of corse we support you” and I kept saying thank you,(that was a year ago) then it was my birthday, I wished to slowly hide my breasts, then I opened the bag from them both, I saw a bag and immediately knew it was a chest binder, later on that night I kept crying my heart out and I kept squeezing them and kept shouting thank you so much.
They mean so much to me and I just want to say to them that I’m thankful for all they’ve done for me and for getting me my first binder. I love them more than they could’ve ever known
High school has been the biggest but most difficult journey of my life. Struggling with dysphoria but having these videos and my amazing friends is getting me through my final months
I can’t come out because I’m scared an my parents don’t support because my friend asked my parents and I’m not ready plus I don’t have a binder but I’m planning on coming out when I’m 18 or 19

this is kind of late but see if there is a gender neutral bathroom or a single person bathroom that you can use. i’ve heard of people changing in the nurses office and things like that if you’re comfortable talking to staff about it

I’m nearly going to go to highschool (I am only 11 right now lol) and I’m homeschooled but I wanna expiriince highschool like all the other kids- I’m still not out to my dad or my brothers, my mother and sister know of me being trans and they are okay with it. In my country I’ve heard that there is lgbt clubs in most schools now I think! Where you can put a new name other than ur birth one and new pronouns and stuff like that, although I know there is a lot of transphobic boys/girls/people in my country. (My name is Alex and my pronouns are he/they, ignore my user this is my yt channel which my whole family knows of and my bullies from my old acting club) I’m gonna come to my dad soon bc my mum really wants me to I think

womens bathrooms are the best choice for transmasc people especially if you live in the hood because if they know you have women parts they could do something bad to you, mens bathrooms are nasty and its like the toilet is there for a suggestion instead of the walls, when youre on your period carrying a bloody pad to the trashcan with other guys in there looking at you is the weirdest feeling you will ever get, girls at my highschool are cool with lgbtq people and they are really supportive and if you feel like something bad will happen to you get a cis girl to come in the bathroom with you and stand by the stall to make sure you wont get hurt or anything, and make sure you remember it dosent matter what you look like as long as youre happy so if that weird kid from the back that rolls his boogers says youre ugly look at em dead straight in the eyes and smile! I need some advice. So I want to come out and I have an extremely supportive family and friend group. But I live in a very conservative school system and there are some people there that I don't want to know. Should I come out?

my parents are transphobes and I've come out to a lot of people at my school even a teacher but I just want to be accepted as trans but I don't know how I can do this when my parents are never gonna accept me I come home crying almost every day and idk what to do anymore. I've considered running away / moving out many times but I have pets that would be very hard to move with and I don't know where I would go. if anyone has advise it would be appreciated

Yeah when I first came out it was to my sister at like 1am and I was visiting & she had to go to work the next day then my parents and friends family etc. that then at my group home one of my roommates said a homophobic comment that absolutely crushed my feelings basically shattered my feelings I hadn’t come out yet but was so upset 😭 and my group home staff tried to console me and I was in tears I could barely breathe & she was like it’s ok why are you so upset it is ok I have friends who are lgbt 🏳️🌈 you can go home if you want to and I did for a night or 2 to give the supervisor a chance to talk to my roommates about it etc. & then I went back their. Also my roommate was crying because she didn’t even know what had happened and wanted me to talk about it and she seemed to be blaming another worker for being that way I wasn’t talking because I was so upset and hurt 😞 and plus I was in the kitchen watching her during and my stuff was like you don’t have to speak to them if you don’t want to so I didnt and got packed up for that night...to this day she apologizes and she isn’t perfect sometimes I wonder however it is certainly better than it was to begin with...my dad was like sometimes when people are unsure about something they can say the wrong thing and it can happen to anyone if you are uncomfortable about something yourself you can say the wrong thing to begin with and then you after realize that you shouldn’t have said that in the first place...
...I called my dad and told him I want to go home and first talked with my group home staff in my bedroom about what was bothering me so much but I could barely talk
