    I got to putting line roller bearings in my spinning reels. I decided to go all out and get full ceramic but i won't get ceramic anymore. Full ceramic makes a gritty raspy loud sound in my reels. If i was fishing salt water i would probably use them or just leave bushings. RC car parts stores will sometimes have the bearings you need. Anytime i come across any torn up or crappy reels i take them apart for parts but roller bearings aren't usually something i can get out of parts though but i do have a pile of bearings.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  Год назад

      Ceramics are good, but not for this application, as i pointed out in the video. This is why i sell high speed but steel bearings (still non corrosive) for this reel.

    My 6.5' Presso is pretty sensitive for what it is. I've never had a high end, ultra sensitive Japenese rod to compare it with though. I'm sure its very klunky compared to something like the Eradicator.
    Thanks for throwing that in the video!

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  Год назад +1

      TRUST ME, you can do a lot worse than the Presso for sensitivity!

  • @littleviking488
    @littleviking488 Год назад +1

    Thanks for another honest and informational video. Based on your experience , can you foresee any benefit of the ball bearings over the plastic bushings as the line diameter decreases -ie: 1.5 to 2 lb test?

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  Год назад +4

      Theoretically they can make a big difference... because the line roller spins like over 1000 RPM. But in practice it is hard to tell the difference, AS LONG as you keep your plastic bushings in good shape. Probably the best course of action is to buy the bearings 1 year after u buy the reel. Then its time to open and clean the line roller anyway, and you might try the bearings then. The set is only $3 for the pair... this is a pretty cheap way to try something new..

      @@ifishcatfish Hey Victor sorry but I've perfected 3 Fly's for trout and have a system. If I was going to jig I would put a tungsten bead on the head. For me it's wool and feather. I have jigged a lot mostly cod with many 8 cast's and 8 Cod 25lb. Bag limits. 3 and 4 oz jig heads did it for me. Full drag and when they got pulled up to surface would fly ten feet towards me from the line stretch. Making the pri bass angler's look silly. Big trout in the 5 to 10lb. range do it for me. I can't use less than 8 to 10lb. tippet. otherwise it could break. I have to set the hook pretty hard to pin them. The big Red Ears still bite occasionally. Anyways never say never when it comes to fishing.

    I bought the new legalis 2000 from japan and it has much more inertia resistance compared to my old blue 2021 legalis from the US. Does the reel need a break in period or will these bearings help significantly? I also noticed the inertia resistance is much less when the antireverse switch is off (reel spins both ways). Any chance it's defective?

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  Год назад

      which model did u buy exactly?

    • @samiassi9786
      @samiassi9786 Год назад

      I got the 23 legalis LT2000S-P

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  Год назад +1

      that model has less resistance than the old model. The roto is only half the weight and the gear ratio is lower. There is no break in period for reels. I have no idea how u feel that your reel has more resistance.. these reels rarely have defect and if they do have a defect u can tell. If the reel is smooth, its fine. I have no idea what is going on there. And, no, these bearings will not help significantly, they are just in the line roller and the knob, not inside the reel.. Maybe your reel has too much grease on the main shaft and its creating resistance, but these reels almost never have problems..

    • @samiassi9786
      @samiassi9786 Год назад

      Thanks for that, I think I will have to buy a return it for a new one then. Is it normal for inertia resistance to be significantly different with the anti reverse switch engaged?

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  Год назад

      @@samiassi9786 i've never seen that in my life, but it is possible, because when u push the switch, the antireverse bearing goes up and no longer works, so u reel the reel without that bearing spinning at all. So if that bearing was bad, then maybe.. But i have never seen such failure or even heard of it.
