I love how almost the entire roster of modern characters started just as color swaps.
It was mainly due to the limitations with the hardware back in those days the games were on.
But still a classic though, but I usually don't go back to pallete swaps.
Scorpion and Sub-Zero are the ones that I go back (especially MK1).
I mean shang tsung only transforms into the other characters because they didnt have enough memory to give him any moves, so they made him transform into characters who did

I loved every bit of it. MKX Reptile was probably the most fun character to play and face against.

In order to be top tier in Deadly Alliance, he not only abandons humanity to become full lizard, but also becomes part crab. ;)

I absolutely love his Meta videos for the characters and games. But I’ll be honest, I really don’t dig the other content. Except for the speed runs, I ‘spose. However the meta videos are worth their weight in gold!

It’s explained pre wb in the “midway timeline” that his change is a result of deterioration of the mind becoming more feral and wild after every new release continually searching around for a master and guidance but after working with shao khan he slowly forgot what his original plan was which was to revive his people , but in the end became nothing more then a vessel for Onaga . mk9-10 reptile has some story but I doubt they’ll use his old lore even assuming they will touch the character . (Reptile had it pretty rough)
Edit: history behind the warrior can explain it in full I just short termed it there’s a lot more detail into the character before he got tricked and becoming a vessel for Onaga

@@ShiftyGuy777 Except in MKvsDCU. It might have just been from playing against AI when I was younger, but the fact that you could keep your wrist blades extended made him feel OP. I haven't however ever played that game competitively, so I might be wrong
I feel like mk4 is what solidified Reptile as a jobber. He seemed more threatening from the little amount of story we got in the earlier games.
Reptile is Mortal Kombat's answer to Tekken's Yoshimitsu, when it comes to his repeating appearance changes.
I like how he started as basically a guy cosplaying a reptile and ended up a full animorph
He was actually a reptile cosplaying a human, but decided to just use his true form later on.

His original mk2 bio literally says "His human form is believed to disguise a horrific reptilian creature". That was the earliest lore he got.

Reptile and Sub Zero won me a small time tournament for MK9 at a cosplay convention. One of my favorite memories, which is surprising seeing I was the drunkest I've ever been through the whole thing. My friends I beat were confused at how I could still land big combos while having an almost unsafe level of alcohol in me 😂

I think the problem lies in the fact that reptile has turned into a solid stand alone character as opposed to a pallete swap now, like Rain still feels like a pallete swap, at least a little bit to me, same with Ermac, but reptile went from being this cool pallete swap serious fighter, to just some lizard you send on errands, but thats just me
Agreed. Hes become more like a random scrub minion-like enemy as opposed to an elusive hybrid ninja warrior with Reptilian powers.

I usually don't comment on your videos much, at all really. But I'd have to share some love to my favorite character in MK as a whole. Since I'm here, PNDK&M is easily the best MK RUclips channel there is imo. Most of the content these guys make is just top notch.
One of the only series on RUclips I'll drop everything and watch. The wait was well worth it, this was a joy to watch. Kabal or Smoke have my votes for who next!

@@xavierdennis2161 How does Kollector have anything to do with Reptile? Reptile isn't a jobber like Kollector, he beat both Nitara and Cyrax in the original timeline. And since that now Rain is in MK11 despite Shang Tsung having his Super Kick, all of the other Ninjas are gonna make the cut including Reptile, I'm sure of it.

This is the first technical video about REPTILE i've ever seen! And it's also a worthy tribute to his history along the mk games. REPTILE has always been my favourite character ever since i first saw him in mk1 as a little kid in the arcade!
I'm still waiting for his release in mk11 and this video might also serve as a reminder of his skills and abilities for everyone before he comes back!

Not all hope is lost as Mortal Kombat 11 is not done yet and if Netherrealms listens to our high request for the scaly ninja. They might consider it and there was a tweet that should a clip of Shang Tsung's transformation of Reptile. Hinting that he might return as DLC (and I hope so because this game doesn't feel the same without him).

@@majungasaurus6814 Mileena's sties and teleport kick is used by Kitana in her updated moveset. She makes a cameo in her friendship. Her projectiles are one of the summons in the tower. She makes multiple references in character's dialogues. She makes a cameo in the Joker's ending with her MKX look. And much like Rain, she still got in. So Reptile still has a possibility to return. I'm not the only one as alot of people want him back in MK11.

Reptile's design in mkx is unparalleled, best Reptile design ever. Not just that, one of the best designs in mkx as well.

There's the reason Reptile is one of my Favorites on the entire MK roster: A heavily execution based character that rewards you with top tier counter pick in almost every game without being broken. Great video!

It’s weird to hear that every MKX variation of Reptile was good, I feel like that not something that happens too often.
When you mentioned the mkxl xray It totally reminded me the existence of xrays (which goes to talk about how much underused they were AND why they got removed entirely in mk11)! You definitely you've mentioned that His xray in mk9 has full projectile invencibility, making It a great anti zoning tool.

Reptile was something special in the early 90's playing as a kid.
I think it was February '93 (because of the cheesey hearts and cupids decor in my fave arcade at that time) that I saw someone fight Reptile at the bottom of the Pit. It felt like that my nerdy teenage self was witnessing history.

I used to play a lot of mk9 online and I can tell you nothing was more frightening then an experienced reptile main.

David Gem was fantastic with Reptile in MK2 even though he was the lowest tier. I don't think I beat his Reptile once when we played which was insane, never fought a Reptile like his 👌
Cool stuff to learn! It's cool you guys focus on a lot of lesser known characters, but I can't wait to see how much Sub-Zero and Scorpion change over the years, along with other staples in MK.

I swear with every redesign Reptile both improves massively and looks much worse at the same time. Imo I think he would look best as a combination of DA's and X's designs, keep him as a badass ninja whilst still being a pretty feral looking lizard (especially the tail, I really want the tail back)
