You have full right to be proud of your African roots. After all, all humans on this earth came from Africa. On the other hand, it is wronge that some African Americans try to indicate that all inhabitants of Kemet (Egypt) were black and they use any excuse to justify this claim. The fact of the matter, the inhabitants of Kemet had been and still till today are of varieties of colors; the majority, however, are light brown, reflecting the Mediterranean environment.
