"Metroidvanias are about being stuck in an open world with many locked doors, progressively getting stronger as you gather upgrades to unlock those doors" "but what if I don't"
All these years later and I still occasionally come back to rewatch this video, this is one of the most absurd and impressive things I've ever seen and the fact that this run is even remotely possible at all is insane
i had a feeling early on that intentional item loss would be the only way to get so low, but the amount of pain that would entail for getting up to the sky temple put me in denial
wondering, why do you skip item obtain cutscenes such that you get the dark screen for a few seconds? does it actually save time somehow? I suppose you only do it when there's a door to open right next to you, so my guess would be that it helps with that somehow
@@cameron6538 the main timing method for Metroid prime 1 and 2 is the in-game timer, which is stopped during cutscenes. Certain cutscenes are skipped at a specific point so that the next room loads or the health refills and not wasting game time while doing so
this tas is incredible! definitely going to need to look up some of the reasons for certain routing and whatnot. i do have a question: you open quite a few blue doors using missiles. is there a particular reason for that like it being faster than switching beams, or is it just because you have more than necessary?
It's not faster (it's also not slower most of the time) to use missiles, but you'd rather waste missiles than dark- or light beam ammo, since you have so many of them
How do you get energy during the IE3 fight? Is there a bug that spawns during that attack that allows you to farm pickups from? I'm curious since I'm very unfamiliar with that stage of the fight.
Why did you keep Annihilator Beam after going back to the item loss cutscene? Did they just forget to make it remove annihilator beam but made it remove other stuff you dont normally have yet?
Yes. It only removes what Samus has when landing on Aether, like the Space Jump, Missles, and Bombs. Things only found on Aether, like the Beams, Dark/Light suits, etc., aren't taken into account.
Thats actually wrong. You loose everything besides the Baseitems including all the stuff you picked up. Otherwise hed still have Light Suit etc as well. The reason he still has Anihilator is that it was currently equiped when he enterd the ILS cutscene. Once you switch back to Power Beam it is gone as well. You can actually see that during the final dark samus fight it isnt there anymore
at 1:28:50 I'm entering a Cannon in the room Workers Path while the game thinks I'm in Sanctuary Temple. Unloading Workers path while being shot out of the Cannon allows me to keep the 'Cannon Ball' state, which has three distinct properties: - Total invulnerability while in Morph Ball - An aura around the Morph Ball that deals 500,000 damage per frame, This aura is capable of activating certain doors that were previously locked (though it cannot unlock currently locked doors) without needing to use a weapon against them - you can see this at 1:33:32 for example - Allows Samus to boost, even if she doesn't already have Boost Ball
If the third phase was vulnerable to power beam, it would be a lot better. Sadly during the dark and light phases it's only damaged by light/dark or annihilator beam

Wait hold on. Just when I thought it was time for final bosses, what the hell that took me by surprise. This is madness
looks like a lot of work. looks really insane well done
Criminally underrated videos
This is art. Uncredible.
The Quadraxis fight with two energy tanks gives me anxiety D:

It's hilarious watching the game engine trying desperately to keep up and failing
Is this not Dolphin Emulator then?

nice run won't lie though I thought I went deaf because of how quiet it was.

EI3 can spawn smaller enemies

Im having trouble understanding how youre invincible as a Morph ball once you get Dark suit. Cool run nonetheless!

@@MaskedTAS thats very interesting! Didnt know that
Why do to the Screw Attack Room, if you don't pick up Screw Attack?
Watch until the end and you'll see
Wait. At 35:05. Did I see 2 U-MOS'?
No, your mind is playing tricks with you

Why doesn't the TAS do Screw Attack Emperor Ing?_?
not possible without space jump
He doesn’t collect screw attack
I do collect Screw Attack. As erinexplosives said, it's not possible to do the SA Quick Kill without Space Jump
I spoke way too soon, holy hell. I stand corrected. This tas is even more crazy than I first thought
Sorry about that
