I'm creating TAS Videos of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

I was just spamming Scan Visor until I got the turnaround
Without the lock on to the object which is out of scanning range, this wouldn't be possible without heavy load delay usage

This Tool Assisted Speedrun aims to collect as many Items as possible while not collecting the Light Beam, one of the best combat weapons in the game. in 2020, four years before doing this run I did another Max% No Light Beam TAS, which is basically a human Theory TAS. Remember kids: Saving is optional Grapple Beam is optional Screw Attack is optional Dark suit is optional Gravity Boost is optional Bosses are optional Walls are optional Energy is optional But speed is MANDATORY
Screw Attack isn't really optional 😅 (In Echoes at least. In Corruption you can skip it funnily enough)

I had no clue what you were doing from about 1:06:00 to 1:08:30 but the pitter patter of Samus’ boots was entertaining. Also was the death intentional for some reason? And 2:25:55 wtf? Rendering issue?
That first part you mentioned is to reach an invisible transition spot far out of bounds which leads to the spire sequence, where you usually have to place that 3 part bomb you have to collect throughout Elysia. The death at Nova beam is very intentional to skip a long pirate fight. Those polygon Samus scenes can happen if you reach a cutscene before a room finished loading completely
@ I should’ve clarified that I eventually realized what all the OOB movement was to get to the spire. The death part confuses me; wouldn’t it force you to restart a save file? How does that skip the fight?
@neochozo unlike the first two prime games, corruption has auto saves. One of them gets automatically set after collecting Nova Beam.
@ well shows how much I know about Prime 3 lol. I need to get better at it, I guess. It really is the game I’ve only done once, a long time ago.
How long does it take to put together a TAS like this? It's massively impressive.
@@TyRexDaQT usually I work on a video for something in between 3 weeks to 2 months for Echoes, a bit more for corruption. Not every day of course, more like 2-3 sessions per week.

So you keep Cannonball properties even after getting Boost Ball?
@@neochozo yes, you keep cannonball until entering another cannon, saving & quitting or dying
@MaskedTAS ahhh, I see. I knew all the others but for some reason I thought acquiring Boost Ball itself cancelled the cannonball effect. Nice to know, thanks.
I started to watch this a year or so ago when I made my first comment and never finished. I have now, and the unbelievable amount of flexing you exhibit, from health management (hell the entire Dark Torvus segment) to boost jumping and everything else in this TAS is just great to watch.

The easiest way is to just play it on the Wii Metroid Prime Trilogy where there is no X button.

I am amazed! I have a question...How did you get the boost upgrade?? It seems to just appear suddenly
at 16:06 I'm entering a Cannon in the room Sandcanyon while the game thinks I'm in Agon Temple. Unloading Sandcanyon while being shot out of the Cannon allows me to keep the 'Cannon Ball' state, which has three distinct properties: - Total invulnerability while in Morph Ball - An aura around the Morph Ball that deals 500,000 damage per frame, which allows me to Insta-Kill some enemies, most noticeably the second phase of Chykka. This aura is also capable of activating certain doors that were previously locked (though it cannot unlock currently locked doors) without needing to use a weapon against them - Allows Samus to boost, even if she doesn't already have Boost Ball

is there any specific reason any% is faster than low%? it feels weird to me that with tas tools you still get faster by going out of your way wasting time on things like energy tanks that you could do without XD
@@TheMellowMarshmallow low% means you have to collect as few items as possible. If you can skip it, you have to even if it would save time. In any% you don't have a restriction and your goal is to finish the game as fast as possible. Extra health upgrades or weapons that help during combat help immensely to get a lower time.
I can't even fathom how long it would take to set this up. Well done!

how did you got that missile container so early isnt it normally blocked via morph ball bombs?
@@yourijatzu3236 yes, but since the portal isn't active when the room is invisible, i bombed the cover before making it visible so I can just collect the missile early

Oh, it's quite the contrary. No light beam is probably the easiest "max% no X" Run to do RTA by far. Although I'd recommend everyone trying this to get super missiles before sanctuary so you can deal more damage to Quadraxis.
I love the concept of TASing these random categories that I can only assume as a non-Echoes speedrunner have only ever been run like, maybe twice ever. Super niche routing with such optimization is my kind of speedrunning. Also, Echoes runs are weirdly easy to fall asleep to, so it's great when I know I ain't falling asleep until like 4 am and there's so many of these TASes to watch.

Too many coincidences. The timing, the previous Metroid titles release, the rumoured switch 2 dev kit that arrived in Spain in 2023 which just so happens to be same location as Mercury Steam the studio that made Metroid dread
