Hello, a few lovely people have pointed out that Rio produces the flower that was used by Agatha for the summoning spell (which is a very cool theory/observation) however, having watched the scene a few times over, it doesn't look to me as though it is the same flower? It looks to me as though Agatha is holding some kind of leaf or flat object in the summoning scene? Maybe it's even a dead flower? Or if it is the same flower, it is somehow flattened? Any thoughts?
The tarot of death looks to me of Santa Muerte ( the Lady Death of Latin America & Mexico…. If you notice the robe design, the flowers, and her crown all of which is Her.) She follows rules same as Rio does ( “No cheating!” She says to Agatha ) she's sometimes impatient but lets her intentions known, which is funny because Agatha is always avoiding and deceiving Rio’s intentions 😅
“She is my scar” is brilliantly worded. Excuse me but I didn’t expect Marvel to edge on poetic. Whoever does wardrobe deserves an Emmy. Great video. I didn’t focus on the flowers but very nice and appreciated breakdown. You might like the book the language of flowers.
@PlaceForAnEcho "Excuse me but I didn’t expect Marvel to edge on poetic." [Let's for argument's sake accept that Rio is Mistress 💀] 🧠And I didn't expect Marvel to be so philosophical, but Thanos' motivation; his goal is to obtain all 6 Infinity Stones & use them to eliminate ½ of all life in the universe certainly is. Marvel's ability to blend philosophy and poetry into their stories is indeed one of the reasons their characters and narratives are so compelling. Thanos' motivation, while extreme, touches on deep philosophical themes, and his relationship with Mistress Death adds a poetic layer to his character. 🤓The connection between Thanos, the philosopher, and Mistress Death, the poet, beautifully illustrates the blend of philosophy & emotion that Marvel often explores. It's these intricate layers that make the MCU so rich & engaging.
🤓 I've never realised how philosophical MCU movies are. *NAME MCU MOVIE* *PHILOSOPICAL THEME* *Thor: Ragnarok* This movie explores themes of power, responsibility, and the roles of gods and heroes. It delves into the idea of leadership and the burdens that come with it, as well as the concept of destiny versus free will. It also invites us to ponder the different roles and domains these GODS, Gods & gods have within the MCU. *WandaVision* The series raises profound ethical questions about identity, reality, and the consequences of one’s actions. It examines the nature of grief and how it can shape our perception of reality, as well as the moral implications of creating and controlling life. *Avengers: Age of Ultron* Vision’s character indeed brings up fascinating questions about consciousness, emotions, and the essence of a soul. The movie also touches on themes of artificial intelligence, the ethics of creating life, and the potential dangers of unchecked technological advancement.
@@Aprilthedark "Lilia’s “sad is better than angry” line made me cry to. Especially Agatha crying over teen. 💔" @ThePowwwowFam "When Lilia said "Jennifer, look what you've done" made me cry" 😎I'm a man and we don't cry.........but a single tear might've been shed. I guess it's my allergies
So much in this episode made me cry. The effort Lorna Wu went to to save her daughter's life. The words in the song. Lorna and Alica's faces side by side as Alice played her mother's song. And these lines from Lilia as well. Lilia is a girls girl. "Look what you've done" and "Sad is better than angry". I imagine Agatha's episode and Lilia's will make me cry too. Especially all the pain Lilia has been through living through the witch trials. This is by far the best MCU series yet.
Rio also says "I hear you girls are having a party," because she was "in the neighbourhood" to collect Sharon and Sharon told her she was invited to a party.
That near-kiss was genuinely hotter than almost anything I’ve seen in more adult/HBO shows. I am a straight man in his 30’s and it literally made me gasp 😂
If not for the hug and look in the woods of the road, the jam session with the Lorna Wu's version of Down the Witch's Road would have been the best scene. But the chemistry between Kathryn Hahn and Aubrey Plaza was enough to cause a fusion explosion, the kind that creates stars and black holes. Anyone who says that this is subtext does not know the difference between text and subtext. This relationship between Agatha and Rio is text, bright burning neon letters flashing across the sky text. Let's give Marvel credit for something something right for a change. (Okay, they've done other things right, but this one just stands out.)
I think the flower she "produced" was actually what Agatha laid on the ground for the summoning. And later when Agatha told Rio she was too early, she meant that she hadn't gotten her powers back yet. In the first episode Agatha convinced Rio to wait until Agatha got her powers back to continue their fight.
You said you wanted to know how Kathryn & Aubrey conjured up that electricity between them and Kathryn actually provided the answer in a recent interview. She said that she and Aubrey sent each other songs & poems (could this BE anymore sapphic) and kept to themselves until they filmed their scenes. Kathryn felt their literal pent up energy really lent itself to their scenes and onscreen dynamic.
So, here's my crackpot theory. What if Rio was Mrs. Hart the entire time? In Wandavision, someone had used a black heart to signify the Harts coming over for dinner on Wanda's calendar, but then Lilia used the same symbol as short hand for their green witch. And then it would explain a few things. It was odd that Agatha's random neighbor was going to have the magical umph to open the door when she (to our knowledge) wasn't a witch and it's been emphasized it takes 5 witches to open the door. It would explain the "I didn't know you had it in you" line with the wink to teen while looking at the corpse. It would explain Agatha's indifference to her seeming death and also Agatha's indifference to learning her correct name. And then, also, Aubrey Plaza mentioned this character shape shifting in interviews. I get this is either a completely stupid theory or it's totally what's about to happen. haha.
@mrcase77 "It would explain the "I didn't know you had it in you" line with the wink to teen while looking at the corpse." 🖐Agatha specifically chose Mrs. Hart to fill the role of the Green witch in her coven, because: 1) of her green thumb. Without Mrs. Hart the coven wouldn't have been able to summon the Witches' Roads portal. 2) she chose Mrs. Hart because she didn't want Rio in her coven. My theory is that "I didn't know you had it in you" applies to Teen, where Agatha discovered that Teen somehow is connected to the Darkhold.
Lilia’s prediction of who would be needed in the coven had all the other names written out but the name of the sixth witch was not written out, it was simply a drawing of a black heart (the ink all the names were written in was black). Which makes sense it would be ambiguous that Mrs. Hart (given her last name) or Rio, who after Agatha mused that Rio didn’t have a heart, Rio replied “Yes I do. It's black, and it beats for you” in episode 1. But it would also make a ton of sense if a second witch had been drawn to The Hex like Agatha, and Mrs. Hart was Rio all along. Whether Rio was masquerading as Mrs. Hart or not it seems likely that Rio is actually Blackheart the offspring of Mephisto in the comics, and they may be combining Lady Death and Blackheart, or perhaps Rio is just Lady Death. Either way it’s going to be interesting to see what happens next.
@@jeffreycarman2185 "but the name of the sixth witch was not written out," 🖐Lilia’s list only had 4 names: 1. Agatha Harkness 2. Lilia Calderu 3. Jennifer Kale 4. Alice Wu-Gulliver The black heart isn't a name, but a symbol Agatha would easily recognise. 🕵♂Besides Teen can't be the 6th witch since he had a sigil cast on him, which makes him invisible to witches so he can't be on the list.
When Agatha told Rio that she is too early, it refers back to episode one when she told Rio to find her when she got her purple back so that they could fight on even ground. she hasn’t gotten it back yet so she told her it was too early
@@SapphicUnderground absolutely sus !! But it is referring back to the first exchange between the two to establish that storyline….it needs to be there to help justify Rio replacing Sharon Upon further thinking about the exchange…. think it could be a double entendre ….. I think that over the years that they were together that Agatha would drain other witches and Rio was able to get the bodies because she is death …. It was a love & symbiotic relationship until Rio had something to do with her son
I wonder whether the Oven and Piano as exits simply meant to signify the next trial. Oven imply fire and Piano imply air. I guess we will see in the next episode.
@Blue_Lunacy "Oven imply fire and Piano imply air." 🕵♂The roots in the exit-piano + the leaves they now travel upon are purple, so Agatha's trial is next
@@TrickyD I saw a few speculations that the next episode will be Lilia's trial and that it might involve tarot cards reading. We will know for sure soon enough.
@@Blue_Lunacy "I saw a few speculations that the next episode will be Lilia's trial and that it might involve tarot cards reading." 🤔Well, I guess tarot cards still involves spirits, but that would still be Agatha's trial because purple is her color while yellow is Lilian's.
Great breakdown as usual :) Loved Ep4. The tension between Agatha and Rio all along the episode had me on the edge of my seat but that last scene had me malfonctioning for a whole day. No joke, I had to stop working regularly to come back to that (non)kiss scene. Because not only is it *so* well acted, but the atmosphere of the road, the lights and the soft music make it an haunting scene. Agatha is throwing herself at Rio, she is finally revealing her true feelings and desires she had bottled up for decades or centuries and Rio, obviously wishing nothing more than to reciprocate the gestue, finds the strengh to bring her back to earth. She says that one thing that Agatha needed to hear, knowing full well that would break the spell of this instant. Rio, your love for Agatha humbles us all. I like the idea that Teen giving a branch of Baby's Breath to Sharon's grave is a reference to Rio's powers. That she may have brought Nicholas to life and that would make her his second mother. Yet she doesn't seem as affected as Agatha. Is she too wearing a mask, like Agatha usually does, and is she concealing how much his death affected her? Or is death so familiar to her that she doesn't perceive it like an end? I want to believe Rio was involved in Nicholas conception : hell yeah for magic baby Nicholas with two badass mothers ; having Rio (Death?) as your mother would certainly provide some ability preventing you to truly ever die right? Right?! That means we would still have hope! Last observation : I don't think Rio is part of this coven. Agatha says, when the trial starts and Rio is smiling excitedly that "She is a tourist". I think she is simply sticking around to collect her bodies. Meaning she won't have a trial and that she may leave as she pleases, unlike members of the coven. Which may validate the theory that it was Rio who was with Agatha when she first completed the Road "I stray not from the path ; I hold Death's hand in mine" = so when Agatha says another witch left the Road with her last time, if she is speaking about Rio, it means nobody from her coven except her made it out alive 😅

the whole relationship between rio and agatha is one big kiss fight and i am here for it. patti having a different instrument every time they cut to her was such a funny bit. "oh look! zills!" this show is replacing she hulk as my favorite marvel show. the way they are taking tropes and saying no, that is the patriarchal gaze. lorna wu wasn't just a party girl running from responsibility, she was an artist and a mother trying to keep her kid safe. alice finally seeing the demon and realizing the trauma is real and she's not just some screw up. it's really good.
My theory is that they were deeply in love and Agatha told Rio she was going to go for the dark hold. Rio told her it comes with a price but didn’t tell her what it was. So when she got the book at the price of their baby she disappeared without a trace and put a sigil on herself so Rio couldn’t find her and that’s why when Rio saw her for the first time she was so soft with her because her mind wasn’t there. Then when Agatha broke from the spell she was so pissed, because she hid and left her. It’s how she said “you hid behind all that magic and the dark hold but now you’re vulnerable.” Like she was pacing around waiting for her to pop back up. I don’t think she wanted to kill her in the first episode but I do think she was going to kidnap her.
Episode 7 will definitely be where everything gets revealed for sure. 😍 but it does make me question. Where does Rio/Death take the bodies and why does she seem to have some type of pleasure in collecting them? I also wonder if Rio was a witch who got a job is death. A lot of questions here.
@someone29125469 "That’s how rio can signify bringing life." 🕵♂Rio waiting for Agatha to kill all the witches in the coven 1 by 1 signifies ending life more than bringing life.
You are the first person I’ve seen talk about Agatha talking to Mrs Davis after she’s dead. I have a secret hope that if they die on the road they get to go home. I don’t want her to be dead.
Actually, burning was never the punishment for witchcraft. That is a common modern misconception with no historical basis. Witches were occasionally drowned but usually hanged. Burning was a punishment reserved for heretics. (The church's only punishment for heresy was only excommunication, but heresy was also a civil offence so civil magistrates tended to burn heretics who didn't immediately repent after their excommunication.) Also note that witch trials were very common in pagan antiquity but mostly died out during the middle ages, because the Roman Catholic Churches official position was that witches did not exist. At the Council of Paderborn in 785 AD it was declared that the belief in witches was heresy and that everyone involved in witch hunting or witch trials that resulted in killing accused witches should be treated as common murderers. The belief in witchcraft and the prosecution of accused witches however made a major comeback during the Protestant Reformation. Martin Luther and John Calvin both believed witches were real and that the old testament demanded their death. (Catholics tended to stick with the Vulgate and interpreted the word as "poisoner" instead of witch, viewing it not as anything supernatural but just murderers who used poisons instead of violence to kill.)
They mentioned the show is going to get gayer by the end and I'm not ready lol I'm just glad the universe allowed this show to be created, because it was green lit after the success of WandaVision and the Disney's CEO at the time wanted Marvel to make as many series as they could for Disney+ and the MCU was still willing to make more bold creative choices, now they are going back to more "safe" choices and doubt we are going to see something this sapphic from Marvel for a long time.
Lillia a woman of mystery? I think she is one of the most transparent characters in the whole group. Possibly about 400 years old. Born & raised in the Mediterranean (Italy or Sicily) just shortly before the Black Plague spread. She had a Maestra who was taken from her too early and left her without total control of her divination power; unable to stop revealing people’s unfortunate end, and thus why she kept getting chased away from village to village. Also because of her lack of control it is hard to tell about who she is talking about, when she talks about (past l, not distant future, or distant future); and I’m sure that is what she seeks in the Witches Road (control over or release from that power).
Here's a bit of a scary take on Teen - the sigil was placed on Teen by Wanda to keep people knowing he is Wiccan, until he has his power. It would suggest that either Wanda was able to allow the sigil to keep working past her death, or Wanda is still alive.
"the sigil was placed on Teen by Wanda to keep people knowing he is Wiccan, until he has his power." 🖐If Wanda had already placed a sigil on Teen to keep his identity as Wiccan hidden, it would raise questions about the necessity of the events in *WV* and her actions in *Dr. S: MoM.* The idea that the Darkhold tempted her with the possibility of finding her twins in another multiverse suggests that her motivations were driven by a deep sense of loss & desperation. It adds complexity to her character and highlights the emotional turmoil she was experiencing.
In the Tarot, the Death card means not just literal death but also transformation. This can be literal reincarnation, or, more likely, the painful end of something with the beginning of something new (e.g. a relationship), like the expression "When the wooden door closes, the steel door opens."
@RalphBloemendaal "In the Tarot, the Death card means not just literal death but also transformation." 🧠Death can mean change, but not every change means death.
I keep wondering how Disney of all things allowed this show to be so gay… and I think it’s because I’m the grand scheme of things, none of these characters are super relevant to marvels IP. Like this isn’t Thor or Ironman or something. They may feel like they can afford to experiment and thank god
I thought of you when I realized it was going to be a ‘70 music episode because I remembered your Stevie Nicks album in the background. Couldn’t wait to see how you reacted.
Agatha told Rio she was too early because prior she had asked Rio to wait until she had her purple back and she didn’t have it yet. Rio was in the neighborhood because she came to collect Sharon, who died.
okay so first: this episode also threw me into a sapphic crisis we all in this together. so the flower rio offers agatha is the one that agatha herself put down for the summoning spell, she didn't produce it herself. and also, agatha threw the flower away after snatching it, rio picked it up at some point and wore it in her hair during the trial (cute and gay). it was on the seat that agatha sat on, she didn't pull it from her pocket, she picked it up before sitting down.
@eliscannotdance "second though: the baby's breath (correctly identified) were on sharon's grave, which isn't what rio came out of, they made a separate lil thing to summon her, the shape of a person made out of dirt." 🕵♂In that case Rio should've surfaced in front of them, because after the summoning they were still watching the shape made out of dirt.
@dirtycoffee8964 "her name means river of life in spanish." 🙄Which would be ironic if Rio is indeed Mistress💀. 😵It's that Aubrey Plaza is Latina and not French, cauz she makes me undergo 'La petite morte' everytime she and Catherine appear on screen together.
The flower Rio presents to Agatha is the one she had lain on the dirt with her wish during the evocation spell. Since it summoned Rio is this suggesting a suppressed desire in this love/hate relationship, but certainly not one Agatha is presently willing to wholeheartedly accept.
It’s funny, after finding out Rio is [redacted] I was watching episode 4 with my roommate a couple nights ago, just because she hadn’t watched it yet, and there were several lines that had a completely different meaning, it’s such good writing because they didn’t even stand out the first time around, but now it’s like OH. Now I wanna rewatch the first two and see what else makes way more sense. I kinda regret being spoiled because I would love to have that A/B rewatch experience with the whole series until she’s revealed, but I can never resist reading a spoiler lol
For no good reason, when I saw the thumbnail, I thought of Lethe's Bramble, which Willow used to edit Tara's memory on Buffy. Of course, the properties of Baby's Breath are the exact opposite.
Crazy theory, but hear me out: I don't think Rio has ever been on the witches' road before. I think the one other witch that left the witches' road with Agatha the time she walked it, was Nicholas...as a baby inside of her. I don't think she knowingly traded Nicholas for the dark hold, I think Mephisto impregnated her with Nicholas so he could claim him for himself as a powerful warlock to serve as one of his agents. I still think it's very possible that Teen is Nicholas, and that when Rio said "that not isn't yours", it wasn't because he wasn't Agatha 's son, but because his soul belongs to Mephisto. Don't even get me started on how I don't think Agatha has EVER been a villain in the MCU. If you rewatch episode 8 of Wandavision, you will see that Agatha never struck any of the witches first, she pleased with them not to attach her because she couldn't control her power, she begged them to help her, and she wasn't purposely draining their power from any of them. If you rewatch Wandavision, you'll see that WANDA was always the villain and Agatha was a sympathetic witch trying to find out what was happening to her and nudge her out of her delusions until Wanda got so out of control torturing people for her own fantasies, Agatha had no other choice but to get tough with her. Why do y'all think the people of Westview still loved Agatha and hated Wanda all those years later---enough to play along with her delusions and buy her groceries & look out for her? It's because they saw her as someone who was trying to save them, not hurt them, unlike Wanda.
@yoda8963 "If you rewatch episode 8 of Wandavision, you will see that Agatha never struck any of the witches first, she pleased with them not to attach her because she couldn't control her power, she begged them to help her, and she wasn't purposely draining their power from any of them. Agatha’s actions and her pursuit of the Darkhold in *WV* certainly paint her as a power-hungry witch. Her willingness to sacrifice her firstborn for the Darkhold suggests a deep-seated ambition & a willingness to go to great lengths for power. 🤔The complexity of her character makes her fascinating. While some may see her as a sympathetic figure trying to understand Wanda’s powers, others view her as a manipulative and power-hungry witch who knew exactly what she was doing. 🧠But in the end it doesn't matter what Agatha said, only her actions count and the fact that she automatically kills any witch who blasts her paints her as pure evil.

@@TrickyD I absolutely see Wanda as a villain. Edit: I am basing my AH opinion on what we have been shown so far. Also this is going to be deeper than I wanted to think about it all but I don’t think either of them started as a villain. We don’t know what Agatha actually did in the new Marvel canon. We know what others say about her. Do we call them both morally ambiguous because we understand their behavior or are we horrified by the results of their actions? Killing Sparky: was it evil? Was there a real dog or was it another of Wanda’s constructs? Did she do it as a test to see if death really was final or if Wanda could bring back Nick? Did she actually kill the dog or did she play into the “and your little dog too” trope as a form of dark humor? Then there is the who are the mortals to witches anyway? We have no power and live decades not centuries. We are ephemeral to them to start with. Agatha took power from witches who did not deserve the power. How did this pattern of behavior begin? Was she attacked first because she was feared? How does she define “deserving of power”? She certainly seemed to see Wanda as evil and undeserving and she showed us what Wanda had wrought. Anyway, tldr. Fictional characters are a great distraction from the truly evil people in the real world.

I dont think Rio is Persephone, but there is a lot of Persephone motifs to her. Death and life, green witch and plant growth. I wonder if there'll be a Persephone inspiration to Rio's official story. A plant life witch who gets pulled into gaining a death aspect.
👁👁The devil mask examined by Jennifer Kale in episode 4 of *Agatha All Along* sparked a lot of speculation about Mephisto. However, I believe that it foreshadows Diablo, the master alchemist. 👹Diablo is known for his alchemical prowess and could certainly add an interesting twist to the story, especially if he had stolen Jennifer's witchcraft.

@SapphicUnderground Hello, this video was recommended to me. I am a Marvel fan. I am not gay, but Marvel does seem to like targeting specific audiences with every new show. I try to seek out the perspectives of those groups. It enriches the story for me.
was Rio the one on the list originally given by Lillia in the second episode? the one where there were four people to form her coven but hers was a shape of a heart
@santhilampon "the one where there were four people to form her coven but hers was a shape of a heart" 🤓Yes! "does that mean that Agatha as a whole was healed by Rio at some point in the past ?" 🤔I guess it depends whether Agatha's pregnancy was a means to receive the Darkhold. If Agatha’s pregnancy was indeed a means to receive the Darkhold, it would make sense that Rio’s only option to 'heal' her was to place a glamour on Teen. The Darkhold’s dark magic and corrupting influence could have driven Agatha’s actions and decisions, making her desire for power and knowledge a significant factor. ☠The Darkhold is known for its dark magic & corrupting influence, so it’s possible that Agatha’s actions and decisions were influenced by her desire for power & knowledge. Her pregnancy could have been a strategic move to gain access to the Darkhold’s secrets.
It seems that each trial is gonna be based off both a member of the coven and one of the elements they rep the elements mentioned in the song first Water next fire next is likely air and then earth amd possibly a trial for Agatha but imagine a trial for teen as well.
🤓Teen isn't part of the coven. The colors of the leaves & roots corresponds to the color of the witch's magic & elements of their trials. 1. *Agatha Harkness* : Leader of the coven -👻trial = purple 2. *Jennifer Kale* : Apothecary witch - 💧trial = blue 3. *Alice Wu-Gulliver* : Protector witch - 🔥trial = red 4. *Lilia Calderu* : Divination witch - 🌬trial = yellow 5. *Rio Vidal* : Green witch - 🌍trial = green 🕵♂The leaves & roots in the piano are purple, so Agatha's trial is next.
Fully agreeing with your theorizing here. For instance, Rio corrects "a green witch" to "THE green witch" brings to mind The Green Man, a folklore figure very much associated with Life, Death, Rebirth, Renewal and Spring. Very much how you are describing Rios character here Also. Im sure I'm not the only one hoping Teen is connected to Wanda, and in order for that to work and make sense from a storytelling perspective, it will require a bit of set up. Especially explaining the presence of a soul and it's capacity to move. I think the story of Nicholas will give us those pieces, which would support magic being involved in his creation. A bit of layer that is also fun, Rio is clearly older than she looks, likely older than Agatha. In Teen, Agatha and Rio you have one set of maiden mother crone, and Alice (a daughter) , Jenn (a midwife and High Priestess, a mother figure) and Liliah you have a second set Your theorizing fits my theorizing and I think that's neat.
@kpearce7961 "In Teen, Agatha and Rio you have one set of maiden mother crone" 😕Uh, Teen most def ain't a maiden. The reason he was thrown through the window instead of being burned like the others is because: 1) Teen isn't a witch 2) Teen isn't female like the other witches 🕵♂Since the curse only affects the women in Alice's family Teen is the only 1 who was physically assaulted instead of burned & marked by the demon.
@@TrickyD not in the obvious sense no, and I agree he is probably not currently in the coven, but I think he might be before the end of the series. My personal theory is that the references to him being "underage" was not a reference to the drinking age but possibly to a magical age of reason? Also, I agree that being male is likely a factor, I suspect male witches are extremely rare and the fact that he (hopefully) will be able to become one will be relevant to his hidden identity. His character however fully encapsulates the "bright young ingenue" trope, that is also the classic "maiden" story. A young person setting out to discover themselves full of optimism and such. Teen has all of traits, the probable story arc and age for the maiden. They refer to the stages of life of a witch rather than literal people too. I think being a boy is just a bit of misdirecting there.
@@kpearce7961 "His character however fully encapsulates the "bright young ingenue" trope, that is also the classic "maiden" story." 🤔True, but for whatever reason it is proven that for now Teen isn't in the coven.....which might change in the future. "I think being a boy is just a bit of misdirecting there." If Teen was a girl some hardcore'fans' might complain for genderbending Nick or Billy. 😏LoL some are already frothing at the mouth because Teen is the only male character in *AAA.*
@spellegren "Teen is Wiccan just based off of his costuming." 😁Costuming and names can be misleading, and the example of Ralph Bohner in *WV* is a perfect illustration of that. Just because a Funko-doll is named Wiccan doesn’t necessarily mean it confirms the character’s identity as Wanda’s son. Similarly, a Funko-doll named Death doesn’t automatically mean she’s Mistress💀. 😏Besides, THE bard has already proven that calling a 💩 a 🌹, won't make it stop smelling like 💩.
I've found this show hard to follow and rather confusing to understand. In spite of Agatha being popular in the Wanda show, I'm having second thoughts if it were necessary to make this spin-off.
@Drrck11 "In spite of Agatha being popular in the Wanda show, I'm having second thoughts if it were necessary to make this spin-off." 🤓 *AAA* is crucial as the 2nd instalment in a trilogy following the characters from *Wandavision.* What connects all 3 series is the Darkhold: in *WV* it enhanced Agatha's powers and in *Dr. Strange MoM* it corrupted Wanda, while in *AAA* Chthon wants to resurrect Wanda so he can regain his chaos magic.
@korrasamicatradora-h9d "Rio Vidal" or river of life??" 🙄Nah she's a river of Advil aka a a river in Egypt aka Denial. PS. denial is a stage in mourning like Wanda did in *WV.* Guilt is another stage in mourning which in all likelyhood seems to be the theme in *Agatha All Along.* 🧙♀I'll do my impression of Lilia Calderu and predict that anger & acceptance are the themes for *Vision Quest.*
my theory is that Billy and Tommy are th e 2 halves of Nicolas scratch. Per the comment from Jen what if Nicolas was an agent of Mephisto and the demon used Nicolase's soul during Billy and Tommy's birth and when they disappeared they become reincarnated souls breaking any contract with Mephisto. Reviving into Teen. So Rio may know exactly who Teen is but may not be able to interfere. Another interesting thought is when the twins died would Rio have come for them?
@jf9144 "my theory is that Billy and Tommy are th e 2 halves of Nicolas scratch." 🖐Wanda's constructs in *WV* have no souls, because if they had they could exist outside Wanda's hex and Wandavision (Wanda's vision construct) has proven that they can't exist outside the hex, simply because they have no soul. 🧠This limitation was a key plot point in the series, highlighting the extent and boundaries of Wanda’s Chaos magic. The constructs, including Vision, Billy & Teddy were bound to the hex and couldn’t survive beyond its borders, so Billy & Teddy can't be the 2 halves of Nick's reincarnated soul. 🕵♂Now that Wanda's dead Teen can't be a reincarnated Billy neither.
@@TrickyDWanda’s constructs have no soul, you’re right. But Billy and Tommy could’ve just been ‘taken’ souls, so maybe Wanda (subconsciously of course) took a lost/roaming soul and put it into her twins. And then when the Hex was destroyed, the souls just went elsewhere (Billy Keplan and Tommy Shepherd). In that way, Teen could be both Nicholas Scratch and Billy Keplan/Maximoff. The theory seems far fetched, but honestly I’m almost 100% sure he’s Billy because there’s no other reason why his identity should remain a secret if he didn’t put that sigil on himself. I’m just not sure *how* he’s Billy.
@@jemappellemerci "But Billy and Tommy could’ve just been ‘taken’ souls, so maybe Wanda (subconsciously of course) took a lost/roaming soul and put it into her twins." 🤔In that case Billy & Tommy would've survived the lifting of the hex, which they didn't. "And then when the Hex was destroyed, the souls just went elsewhere (Billy Keplan and Tommy Shepherd)." This doesn't compute; either Billy & Tommy somehow had souls and would've survived the lifting of the hex, or they didn't and stopped existing. 👉In this case mixing MCU with Marvel comics makes no sense.
@@jemappellemerci depending on the strict rules the MCU decides to use. This show is establishing the rules of hedge magic and where do souls go if they aren't connected to a God. Like in Moonknight.
@@TrickyD Souls yes. But bodies no. Their bodies were manifested from the hex itself. Chaos Magic takes what's there and alters them, IE Bullet proof vest/dress. so nothing returned to nothing. The souls are the only thing that is in question for me. Can choas magic create souls or not.
😕Uh.......Lesbian spaghetti is just a bowl of too many slittering phallic symbols. Not that there is anything wrong with lesbians........ ......or spaghetti. Anywayz as a straight guy I support the cleavage shown in this episode and like my feminist sisters am of the opinion that every bra should be burned. Baby's Breath...interesting, like Agatha took the breath away from her baby to gain the Darkhold? Btw Advil is an anagram for Vidal as in Rio Vidal.
I say this as a person who has had very magical friends: "He stole my magic" is shorthand for "he sexually assaulted me." I dont mean a broad concept you can say a lot of ways, I mean the EXACT phrase "he stole my magic." Sexual activity supposedly drains you in a renewable way but sexual assault is stronger, and effectively binds you. Nobody wants to touch on this subject, I think the "drowning" was either a metaphor for a darker act or maybe it just began there. If they dont narrow that down in the show at some point I'll be EXTREMELY surprised, cuz it's the most basic of magical tidbits.
I think the flowers were from Sharon's body. Also, I think there were some flowers in the forest if you look into the scenes.

Great video. I didn’t focus on the flowers but very nice and appreciated breakdown.

[Let's for argument's sake accept that Rio is Mistress 💀]
🧠And I didn't expect Marvel to be so philosophical, but Thanos' motivation; his goal is to obtain all 6 Infinity Stones & use them to eliminate ½ of all life in the universe certainly is.

*Thor: Ragnarok* This movie explores themes of power, responsibility, and the roles of gods and heroes. It delves into the idea of leadership and the burdens that

*WandaVision* The series raises profound ethical questions about identity, reality, and the consequences of one’s actions. It examines the nature of grief and how

6 minutes in, holy crap I didn’t clock that Agatha kept the flower.❤
I love your analysis of this. My gay self was also on edge watching those scenes. Damn the chemistry is palpable
I get this is either a completely stupid theory or it's totally what's about to happen. haha.
@mrcase77
"It would explain the "I didn't know you had it in you" line with the wink to teen while looking at the corpse."
🖐Agatha specifically chose Mrs. Hart to fill the role of the Green witch in her coven, because:
1) of her green thumb.
Rio did say she was a shape shifter. I do think it was her.
@@smileymoreno625
"Rio did say she was a shape shifter."
👁🗨She did? Could you direct me to the episode so I can analyze it for myself?
@@jeffreycarman2185
"but the name of the sixth witch was not written out,"
🖐Lilia’s list only had 4 names:
1. Agatha Harkness
2. Lilia Calderu
3. Jennifer Kale
4. Alice Wu-Gulliver
The black heart isn't a name, but a symbol Agatha would easily recognise.
That's true! I still found their exchange suspicious for some reason though... we'll see what unfolds.
@@SapphicUnderground absolutely sus !! But it is referring back to the first exchange between the two to establish that storyline….it needs to be there to help justify Rio replacing Sharon
Upon further thinking about the exchange…. think it could be a double entendre ….. I think that over the years that they were together that Agatha would drain other witches and Rio was able to get the bodies because she is death …. It was a love & symbiotic relationship until Rio had something to do with her son

Death in the death tarot card is also holding a dagger that looks like the one Rio held to Agatha’s neck in the earlier episodes.

@@ryansproviero Nice catch! Lol
Actually, burning was never the punishment for witchcraft. That is a common modern misconception with no historical basis. Witches were occasionally drowned but usually hanged. Burning was a punishment reserved for heretics. (The church's only punishment for heresy was only excommunication, but heresy was also a civil offence so civil magistrates tended to burn heretics who didn't immediately repent after their excommunication.)
Also note that witch trials were very common in pagan antiquity but mostly died out during the middle ages, because the Roman Catholic Churches official position was that witches did not exist.
They mentioned the show is going to get gayer by the end and I'm not ready lol
I'm just glad the universe allowed this show to be created, because it was green lit after the success of WandaVision and the Disney's CEO at the time wanted Marvel to make as many series as they could for Disney+ and the MCU was still willing to make more bold creative choices, now they are going back to more "safe" choices and doubt we are going to see something this sapphic from Marvel for a long time.

@@Avik_t0r I think it was Aubrey Plaza who said "It will be a gay explosion by the end" when she was interviewed by a Variety reporter.
"the sigil was placed on Teen by Wanda to keep people knowing he is Wiccan, until he has his power."
🖐If Wanda had already placed a sigil on Teen to keep his identity as Wiccan hidden, it would raise questions about the necessity of the events in *WV* and her actions in *Dr. S: MoM.*
The idea that the Darkhold tempted her with the possibility of finding her twins in another multiverse suggests that her motivations were driven by a deep sense of loss & desperation.

Also Rio’s 70s get up, her look resembles La Catrina, a symbol for Dia de Los Muertos
Great show 😊
You are quite awesome 😎
The flower that Rio gives to Agatha is the one Agatha put on the ground when she asked for the new green witch to be smart but not annoying.
Thank you for the video 🤗🤗🤗
@eliscannotdance
"second though: the baby's breath (correctly identified) were on sharon's grave, which isn't what rio came out of, they made a separate lil thing to summon her, the shape of a person made out of dirt."
🕵♂In that case Rio should've surfaced in front of them, because after the summoning they were still watching the shape made out of dirt.
@@TrickyD you are absolutely correct, just rewatched. she very much does crawl outta sharon's grave like a freaky ass zombie lesbian. we have to stan.
Rio does say she did hurt “someone” because it “was her job” Hmmmm

🙄Which would be ironic if Rio is indeed Mistress💀.
Great video. The intro made me lol
The flower Rio has is the one they placed on the ground to summon her
Intro is so true
Amen😂
@yoda8963

💅Witch please, Agatha toyed with her tormentors because she knew full well what was gonna happen; her Darkhold gift'll kick in & destroy every witch that blasted her.
Agatha got a lot of bad press and I agree she is not the villain.

"Agatha got a lot of bad press and I agree she is not the villain."
😶The same way some people refuse to acknowledge that Wanda is evil for holding a whole town hostage in *WV* simply because she's a woman?

😏LoL are you truly comparing a fictional show like Wandavision with the Milgram experiment where participants were instructed to administer electric shocks whenever a wrong answer was given?
"Then there is the who are the mortals to witches anyway?"
🙄Do you actually believe that because Agatha is a superior being compared to a normal human so has the right to do with humans as she wishes?
"Anyway, tldr. Fictional characters are a great distraction from the truly evil people in the real world."
😎I guess this applies to any any religious text. However, like religious texts fictional stories offers us a lens through which we can explore & reflect on real-world issues. The portrayal of characters like Agatha can prompt us to think more deeply about morality & responsibility.

I think Ahatha has been planning to use Teen as a vessel for Nicholas at the end of the road, but he's already a vessel for Billy.
Love this look on you 🥰
omg thx for pointing out the babybreath
I read the "too early" based on their meeting in the beginning of the season. That Rio could come and kill Agatha once she's got her powers back and since she still haven't gotten them Rio was "too early". But yeah we don't know exactly what that meant yet I guess :D
Aubrey Plaza sat behind a drumkit gave me some very intense feelings...
Live Laugh Lesbian (At a certain point watching I was screaming "Just F Already!")
🤯I guess the gay explosion in *AAA* = a baby boom?
Possibly the triplets Nicky, Billy & Teddy.
of Agatha is her scar and if rio can heal Agatha's wounded hand, does that mean that Agatha as a whole was healed by Rio at some point in the past ?
I think that may be part of their backstory but we'll just have to wait and see!
I think Rio☠️ not telling the truth to Agatha😮😢. I think Agatha son Spirit is in that kid😮.. and that's Wanda son too. Meaning Mephisto😈 is the baby daddy😮 that's the twisted 🥨. Rio☠️ works for Mephisto 😈.
I personally think lillia is being possessed by the dead, and that it’s spirits’ thoughts that are going through lillia
Hmm that last part almost makes me feel like Agatha will end up pregnant maybe at the end. Her true search not power but to get her son back and so she ends up getting him back, maybe down the road in the movies/shows he could end up either helping the Young Avengers or be one of the bad guys.
I don't care about Rio's identity. I love Aubrey Plaza and her acting but not about the role. The only question I have is when we're going to get "shocked" to discover that the teen is Billy Maximoff
Now, I have a scar .
6:42 Vidal is a pretty normal surname across the Romance language world, and has roots similar to vitale which is Latin for “vitality” and vita which is Latin for “life”. Wikipedia says that Vidal comes from Catalan or Aragonese, or possibly Romansh, but I haven’t verified that.
Vida is the word for life in Spanish, so that is very similar (because it has the same root).
And Rio means river.
Or ROAD.

"yeah but she loved Agatha and love makes you do crazy things + people say she traided her son for the darkhold but maybe it was a force traid?"
🤔Why would Agatha need to give her son to Mistress 💀to receive the Darkhold?
If Mistress 💀 doesn’t care about the natural balance because of her 💖for Agatha, it does raise the question of why a trade would be necessary.
🕵♂And if she just took Agatha’s son, it would likely create animosity between them, making it less likely for Mistress 💀 to risk such a move.
I think Nicholas Scratch is not only alive, but holds a grudge against his mother for giving him away for the Book of the Damned, so he sent his children - the Salem Seven - after Agatha for revenge.
It’s clever how the sigil could look like an M or a W. It could have been Wanda, it could have been Mephisto.
🕵♂Riddle me this:
Mistress 💀is a well-established character in the Marvel Universe, often associated with Thanos and other cosmic entities. If Rio is an original character, it would make sense that she couldn't be Mistress 💀?
In the MCU, Death might be a role filled by former humans, acting as an agent for another cosmic entity.

🧠In that case Rio isn't Mistress 💀but an avatar of Mistress 💀.
If Rio is an avatar of Mistress💀, it would make sense that she functions similarly to the Valkyries, who collect the souls of those slain in combat.
🕵♂In this case, Rio would specifically collect the souls of witches & other magic-users. This adds a unique and intriguing layer to her character and role within the MCU.
I hope he isn’t working with her If he’s Billy I don’t want him to be evil
🤭LoL the Funko Pop leaks regarding Billy & Mistress 💀are misdirections, because during *WV* there was a Funko Pop of "Pietro Maximoff" released and he never appeared in *WV.*
Because Funko Pop officially released "Pietro Maximoff" everyone, but me, was certain that he could only be Mephisto in disguise.
🤣Yet *WV* showed us that it was Ralp Boner instead.
We've already gotten spoilers, but as I've noticed, fans love to complicate things with their theories. I don't think even Marvel goes that deep 😂😂😂
@vics2159
"We've already gotten spoilers,"
😏Like the infamous *Avengers: Infinity War* trailer? It showed Hulk running with other Avengers in Wakanda, but that scene never made it into the final movie. This was an intentional misdirect by the directors to keep the movie's surprises intact.
The Wiccan Funko Pop appears to be part of a listing. There are images circulating online, but they seem to be part of promotional materials or leaks rather than official product photos.
😎I'll believe in when I see it in the series and not in trailers, spoilers or leaks.
@@TrickyD But Funko was already added to many sites with its preorder. It is still there but they removed picture of back of the box. Plus Marvel haven't denied that it's not true. Also after watchin ep 4 it makes pretty clear about Rio acording to leaks. About Wiccan I'm sure on 99,9%. Like it doesn't make sence to making him or his soul Nicholas. Billy Kaplan was able to become Wiccan later Demiurge because of Billy Maximoff's soul (also there's a lumour about another spin-off about finding Tommy. So we found Billy already?). First of all making him Nicholas is too obvious and convenient. And I really don't see any sence to do this accept to make Aghata happy. Even though I wish her to be but there are many other options without ruining Wiccan's origin.
Anyways this is just my point. None of us can affect Marvel. If they want to swap, merge or do anything else with Teen and Nicholas, they'll do it.
@vics2159
"Plus Marvel haven't denied that it's not true."
Denying a rumor only adds to it's lifespan.

🖐 Just because a Funko-doll is labeled Wiccan does it necessarily confirm anything about the character’s identity in the MCU.
Besides, Wanda has no kids in the MCU.

😏LoL Joe Locke looks exactly like Billy in the comics, so Teen being Billy is the most obvious.
"If they want to swap, merge or do anything else with Teen and Nicholas, they'll do it."

Only following the story-logic & focusing on what’s presented in the TV series keeps the discussion grounded in the actual content rather than getting lost in external speculation.

@SapphicUnderground Hello, this video was recommended to me. I am a Marvel fan. I am not gay, but Marvel does seem to like targeting specific audiences with every new show. I try to seek out the perspectives of those groups. It enriches the story for me.
4:16 Baby's breath can also be a symbol of sympathy or grief in the language of flowers.
4:41 This is a fascinating thought. Have you seen Star Wars Acolyte? If you haven't, I'll just say this reminds me of something from that.
was Rio the one on the list originally given by Lillia in the second episode? the one where there were four people to form her coven but hers was a shape of a heart
@santhilampon
"the one where there were four people to form her coven but hers was a shape of a heart"
🤓Yes!
"does that mean that Agatha as a whole was healed by Rio at some point in the past ?"
🤔I guess it depends whether Agatha's pregnancy was a means to receive the Darkhold.
1. *Agatha Harkness* : Leader of the coven -👻trial = purple
2. *Jennifer Kale* : Apothecary witch - 💧trial = blue
3. *Alice Wu-Gulliver* : Protector witch - 🔥trial = red
4. *Lilia Calderu* : Divination witch - 🌬trial = yellow
5. *Rio Vidal* : Green witch - 🌍trial = green
🕵♂The leaves & roots in the piano are purple, so Agatha's trial is next.
Fully agreeing with your theorizing here.
For instance, Rio corrects "a green witch" to "THE green witch" brings to mind The Green Man, a folklore figure very much associated with Life, Death, Rebirth, Renewal and Spring. Very much how you are describing Rios character here
Also.
In Teen, Agatha and Rio you have one set of maiden mother crone, and Alice (a daughter) , Jenn (a midwife and High Priestess, a mother figure) and Liliah you have a second set
Your theorizing fits my theorizing and I think that's neat.
@kpearce7961
"In Teen, Agatha and Rio you have one set of maiden mother crone"
😕Uh, Teen most def ain't a maiden.
The reason he was thrown through the window instead of being burned like the others is because:
1) Teen isn't a witch
2) Teen isn't female like the other witches
🕵♂Since the curse only affects the women in Alice's family Teen is the only 1 who was physically assaulted instead of burned & marked by the demon.

Vidal = Advil 😀
Teen is Wiccan just based off of his costuming. Nevermind the leak, same as Death, that confirms it.
@spellegren
"Teen is Wiccan just based off of his costuming."
😁Costuming and names can be misleading, and the example of Ralph Bohner in *WV* is a perfect illustration of that.

🤓 *AAA* is crucial as the 2nd instalment in a trilogy following the characters from *Wandavision.*
What connects all 3 series is the Darkhold: in *WV* it enhanced Agatha's powers and in *Dr. Strange MoM* it corrupted Wanda, while in *AAA* Chthon wants to resurrect Wanda so he can regain his chaos magic.

my theory is that Billy and Tommy are th e 2 halves of Nicolas scratch.
@jf9144
"my theory is that Billy and Tommy are th e 2 halves of Nicolas scratch."
🖐Wanda's constructs in *WV* have no souls, because if they had they could exist outside Wanda's hex and Wandavision (Wanda's vision construct) has proven that they can't exist outside the hex, simply because they have no soul.

"And then when the Hex was destroyed, the souls just went elsewhere (Billy Keplan and Tommy Shepherd)."
This doesn't compute; either Billy & Tommy somehow had souls and would've survived the lifting of the hex, or they didn't and stopped existing.
