I think my problem with the colours is that all the reds are really similar(speaking as someone with a little vision issues) so it just blends a lot, I like the red I just wish there were different reds :) Lovely art!
This!! Hell is generally more of a cold place with few rings that actually host fire and brimstone. If we follow Dantes inferno, theres even a lush field with a river of boiling blood. I have read the bible, and from what I remember, hell isnt described in depth aside from a few things.
That’s my main issue as well I have also a problem with vision (astigmatism and high sensibility with light) and it REALLY blends a lot most of the scenes I think if they wanted to stick the red on the characters, they could also make some variates for the background so it doesn’t happen a lot But it’s just what i think with the experience watching the show
The critic about the use of red is about the overuse of the same shade of red, it could be explaned for character like Husk, Niffty, Charlie and Vaggie to be wearing the same shade, as a hotel uniform. But other chacters have this red in their body and clothes, which makes it harder to tell the characters connections. A little change that could have been implamented would be diffent shades of red and the use of the theme color of sins (Pride-Red. Orange-Wrath. Yellow-Gluttony. Green-Greed. Blue-Lust. Purple-Envy. Pink-Sloth). It would have more diversety and demonstrate the sin they commited in life. But I would still keep the red in all designs for sinners, because there is a Bibble lesson that says all can go to heaven, if they regret their sins, so all sinners got to hell, because they were too prideful to repent their acts in life. It is a thing that an artist I follow does in her overhaul. If you want to see, her channel name is Lovesart23.

okay but i legitimately love your redesign for vaggie. the spikes are a top notch addition especially, along with some of the other "punkier" elements because they feel very much like callbacks to her being a fallen angel. spikes and punk rock are adam's entire schtick and the exorcist army sports these elements on some of the angels as well, so even if it wasn't your intention it fits so well thematically, especially when you consider vaggie was adam's favorite before lute
the bit about excorcists angels having alot of the same physical characteristics is because they were made to appeal to adam i think! it would be nice if when vaggie was banished, she went against her original model and did whatever she wanted, which could also symbolize her rebellion against adam
As far as I'm aware, Vivienne designed all these characters. She has a very hard time drawing bigger characters+I don't think she likes it? Mimzy, Adam, Mammon, are all rounder characters, though Adam has a thin face and neck making it look like he just has a very big and fluffy robe. Also it's been pointed out before that Alistors symbols that appear in the show are... voodou symbols and many were not pleased by that because voodou was a practice brought over from Africa and evolved in the Americas and was then demonized by non black Christians, primarily white Christians. These characters design absolutely follow the rule of cool more than anything, there do seem to be rules for the imps from different rings, which can be seen in helluva boss, but for sinners it seems to be a free for all. Some are more human like, some are anthro animals, some are object heads some show how they died/were killed. If there is a rule to how this works, I have no idea what it is. Again, it could just be the rule of cool. I'm someone that LOVES lore and rules on how a fantasy world works, and it's a bit frustrating not being able to figure out Vivienne's world building. Some people are out right mean and pretty rude, others have like, genuine critiques that don't come hatred towards her and her characters. I have a lot of critiques of her, her stories and her character designs, but it's because that's how I enjoy stories. My biggest hyperfixation is transformers and I LOVE criticizing it. I have beef with tf writers that don't even know I exist. For me it's fun. It's insane to me so many people harass artists that do redesigns of these characters. Because all fandoms do that. DC, Marvel, transformers, etc. And it's not even from a place of hatred! There are so many redesigns of tf characters that come from love and adoration of a character. And even the artists that completely overhaul the designs and stories, I don't think they are doing anything wrong. They've been inspired and are doing something fun!!! And the redesigns artists I've seen don't even harass anyone, or Vivienne. They themselves have been harassed. I absolutely love that this art challenge is back, I remember when there were hundreds of mlp redesign videos where people were just having fun. I am so happy to see people doing it again with different shows. I would love to do this as well with all the shows i love, but i wanna get better at character design first. Not to mention the fact that im not a youtuber lmaoooo maybe if i ever make more art friends ill find at least one other person who would wanna do this challenge with me 😅

Vaggie is my favorite redesign! I agree she's too skinny for her physicality being her entire personality. I actually adore the patterns on Husk's wings because they're the patterns of cards, which I love that they incorporated into his wings. BUT that said, Husk aside, I loved all of your other redesigns! Gorgeous, gorgeous art style. Very detailed. Definitely something to inspire new artists.

5:48 Okay, very friendly critique I promise! The way the arm is angled doesn’t look like he’s reaching, but more like you removed the upper arm entirely and attached just the forearm to the shoulder! The easiest way to fix something like this would be to to stretch the proportions a bit, or move the hand closer to the viewer and make it bigger! That way it fits the position that you’re going for! I struggled with anatomy for years, and sometimes I still do! Which is why this is just a friendly critique, I come in peace ❤
13:27 I do have a small tidbit about the pentagram but I do not mean to criticize you it just really stuck out to me. I’ve never watched hazbin but I am a mythology and folklore nerd and I noticed that the pentagram you used was not the the satanic pentagram but the pagan/wiccan pentagram. The pagan/wiccan pentagram is the one you used and the satanic pentagram is the same one but flipped upside down. The pagan/wiccan pentagram and it is a symbol of spiritual protection where as the satanic pentagram represents well Satan and everlasting torment which is the modern day christian description of it. I apologize for going on this whole tangent it just bugged me. 😅 I love the art though and I really love your art style! ❤❤❤
I absolutely loved these designs. My favourite has got to be Alastor, though I love the outfits and Lucifer's new hat (with the horns) and his staff. I also completely agree with your opinion on HH's character designs with the colours and silotites. Keep up your amazing artwork
I have a problem with so much red in the deisgns because it's not just the characters, the backgrounds are very red as well I'd like more variety of reds, change up the values a bit, the ones in the show are all too simmilar
5:20 I actually have always liked his design as well! People have this thought that he looks evil but literally he is a fallen angel and angels are supposed to look perfect. Heck, Lucifer was supposedly the most handsome angel so it makes sense that he doesn't look like everyone else and looks friendly. 7:02 I have always felt that she lacks the looks for her being a princess, but eventually I actually liked it because she is trying not to use her title to get her goal. I love your design though as its a good mix of feminine and masculine. 10:35 The only issue I have had with Alastor is that he is so matchy and his colors blend in. Then again, I also had an issue with how his outfit works. I am glad that you fixed the clothes issue. I feel like his eyes should be gold so it pops. 15:01 I like how you made Vaggie more edgy but she is still Vaggie! I also liked how you changed her body type to make more sense and her eye pops. Im also happy that you changed her look to look more hawk like. It fits her better. 18:20 Yeah his design has always confused me as like you brought up, his bodytype doesnt fit his voice. I'm glad you changed that! Also I'm glad that you made him fit his age more. I love how you designed him! I didn't mean to ramble, but I always have so many thoughts and want to be a character designer myself. To whoever read all this, I'm impressed and hope you enjoyed my thoughts!

i'll be frank, my opinion on Hazbin Hotel is. far from high. But i had a great time watching this video regardless. Your art is stunning as always, and there's also just something nice in seeing a redesign video inspired by passion for something rather than the need to 'fix' it

Yeah cause his mother was born in Louisiana and part of his heritage was from her and his birthplace, hence the voodoo symbols. (Sorry if this sounded a bit off.)

So, I honestly loved your redesigns for the Hazbin cast. I could def see why some may like them (even if a lot of them are just too clashing for me). There's def stuff I like about the HH cast's designs, but colors just clash and blend too much and there's a lack of body diversity that just makes a lot of them feel samey. Still, things like all the intricate details are cool. So I understand why some love the designs!!! And I really liked how your redesigns turned out. Also, I wanted to bring this up since you said you didn't know much of Alastor's backstory, didn't get what the symbols were when it comes to his powers (not his outfit though, just powers), and didn't get why people critiqued about his hair. The critique of his hair is because he's mixed creole, yet doesn't have much black features, which also includes his hair. As well, the symbols originally in HH are based around vodou, which is a closed religion to specific black cultures such as Creole culture. Problem is that it's kinda represented in a villainizing sort of way. It's kinda why a lot of people just overall have mixed opinions on Alastor, including me sadly. I genuinely think if they didn't have so much racism related issues on his design and backstory, then I would love his character even more cause I genuinely find him interesting. So yeah, sorry for this long comment. It's sadly such a big issues with him that honestly explains why there are people who don't like Alastor's design and character.

The cross on his chest might be a ribbon or visual detail. Also, Husk's wing pattern is a reference to his pilot design where they're roulette/gambling themed.

About colors,the main problem is they being in the pride ring,where the theme color IS red (if you don’t know,every ring in the hellaverse has a color that represents it),so it’s easy to think the problem are the characters color,when not necessarily. Once we get the next seasons,where they should probably be put in heaven or in contrast with other color demons (like Baxter),we will be able to appreciate the designs better.

I was wondering if someone else was going to say this, but I have yet to see it. So, first off, LOVE the redesigns. I think they're well done and fix some of the problems of the og designs. Second; you mentioned how you didn't like the uniformity of the exorcists when it came to body shape and wing designs. There's an explanation for that uniformity. Adam has a type, and made the exorcists that type. That's literally the only explanation I have heard, and honestly makes sense considering Adam. But I agree, some variety would be nice with the exorcists.

At time of making this comment I am still in the Lucifer section of the video, an just wanted mention the only critique I really have is about the awkward foreshortening of his arm makes it appear as if he just has a really short arm with no elbow 😅 but as an artist myself I get how difficult it can be to do foreshortening in a way that doesn't look awkward, so anywho aside from that, I absolutely love how you drew him!
I'm gonna politely disagree with you on shape language. I get what you're saying though! Vaggie's hair, Alastor's ears, etc. But when I think shape language, I think body shape. Every character except for like two of them are STICKS. Barely any curves or plus size representation. As controversial as it is, that diversity is so important in today's world so we can see ourselves in the characters being portrayed. Like Mimsy being one of the only plus size characters, but an antagonist really rubbed me the wrong way. Accessories and hairstyles only do so much for me in shape language. But I DO agree Vaggie with the hawk motif fits her SO much better holy moly, and she really should be bulkier. Love how you interpreted her! Ur art style is stunning, glad my recommended's showed me ur page! 💕
Yeah, maybe your Husk design isn't ground-breaking, but I still prefer it to his canon design. I completely agree with your opinions on his og design lol

I feel this also applies to the background as well. All the characters being red end up blending either with each other, or into the background.

13:27 I do have a small tidbit about the pentagram but I do not mean to criticize you it just really stuck out to me. I’ve never watched hazbin but I am a mythology and folklore nerd and I noticed that the pentagram you used was not the the satanic pentagram but the pagan/wiccan pentagram. The pagan/wiccan pentagram is the one you used and the satanic pentagram is the same one but flipped upside down. The pagan/wiccan pentagram and it is a symbol of spiritual protection where as the satanic pentagram represents well Satan and everlasting torment which is the modern day christian description of it. I apologize for going on this whole tangent it just bugged me. 😅

I absolutely loved these designs. My favourite has got to be Alastor, though I love the outfits and Lucifer's new hat (with the horns) and his staff. I also completely agree with your opinion on HH's character designs with the colours and silotites. Keep up your amazing artwork

I love the way u made husk because it looks like he actually could pass as an ex overlord, which bugged me a lot when that was confirmed.
5:20 I actually have always liked his design as well! People have this thought that he looks evil but literally he is a fallen angel and angels are supposed to look perfect. Heck, Lucifer was supposedly the most handsome angel so it makes sense that he doesn't look like everyone else and looks friendly.
7:02 I have always felt that she lacks the looks for her being a princess, but eventually I actually liked it because she is trying not to use her title to get her goal. I love your design though as its a good mix of feminine and masculine.
10:35 The only issue I have had with Alastor is that he is so matchy and his colors blend in. Then again, I also had an issue with how his outfit works. I am glad that you fixed the clothes issue. I feel like his eyes should be gold so it pops.
15:01 I like how you made Vaggie more edgy but she is still Vaggie! I also liked how you changed her body type to make more sense and her eye pops. Im also happy that you changed her look to look more hawk like. It fits her better.

i'll be frank, my opinion on Hazbin Hotel is. far from high. But i had a great time watching this video regardless. Your art is stunning as always, and there's also just something nice in seeing a redesign video inspired by passion for something rather than the need to 'fix' it

So, I honestly loved your redesigns for the Hazbin cast. I could def see why some may like them (even if a lot of them are just too clashing for me). There's def stuff I like about the HH cast's designs, but colors just clash and blend too much and there's a lack of body diversity that just makes a lot of them feel samey. Still, things like all the intricate details are cool. So I understand why some love the designs!!! And I really liked how your redesigns turned out.
Also, I wanted to bring this up since you said you didn't know much of Alastor's backstory, didn't get what the symbols were when it comes to his powers (not his outfit though, just powers), and didn't get why people critiqued about his hair. The critique of his hair is because he's mixed creole, yet doesn't have much black features, which also includes his hair. As well, the symbols originally in HH are based around vodou, which is a closed religion to specific black cultures such as Creole culture. Problem is that it's kinda represented in a villainizing sort of way. It's kinda why a lot of people just overall have mixed opinions on Alastor, including me sadly. I genuinely think if they didn't have so much racism related issues on his design and backstory, then I would love his character even more cause I genuinely find him interesting. So yeah, sorry for this long comment. It's sadly such a big issues with him that honestly explains why there are people who don't like Alastor's design and character.
My fav is the creepy alastor design is my favorite & I agree with most things about alastor he is my favorite (& weird crush ❤️)

The cross on his chest might be a ribbon or visual detail. Also, Husk's wing pattern is a reference to his pilot design where they're roulette/gambling themed.

About colors,the main problem is they being in the pride ring,where the theme color IS red (if you don’t know,every ring in the hellaverse has a color that represents it),so it’s easy to think the problem are the characters color,when not necessarily. Once we get the next seasons,where they should probably be put in heaven or in contrast with other color demons (like Baxter),we will be able to appreciate the designs better.

I was wondering if someone else was going to say this, but I have yet to see it. So, first off, LOVE the redesigns. I think they're well done and fix some of the problems of the og designs.
Second; you mentioned how you didn't like the uniformity of the exorcists when it came to body shape and wing designs. There's an explanation for that uniformity. Adam has a type, and made the exorcists that type. That's literally the only explanation I have heard, and honestly makes sense considering Adam.
But I agree, some variety would be nice with the exorcists.
Your voice reminds me so much of Aventurine from Honkai Star Rail, I feel like he himself is telling me about the redesigns ToT

At time of making this comment I am still in the Lucifer section of the video, an just wanted mention the only critique I really have is about the awkward foreshortening of his arm makes it appear as if he just has a really short arm with no elbow 😅 but as an artist myself I get how difficult it can be to do foreshortening in a way that doesn't look awkward, so anywho aside from that, I absolutely love how you drew him!

I'm gonna politely disagree with you on shape language. I get what you're saying though! Vaggie's hair, Alastor's ears, etc.
But when I think shape language, I think body shape. Every character except for like two of them are STICKS. Barely any curves or plus size representation. As controversial as it is, that diversity is so important in today's world so we can see ourselves in the characters being portrayed. Like Mimsy being one of the only plus size characters, but an antagonist really rubbed me the wrong way. Accessories and hairstyles only do so much for me in shape language.
But I DO agree Vaggie with the hawk motif fits her SO much better holy moly, and she really should be bulkier. Love how you interpreted her! Ur art style is stunning, glad my recommended's showed me ur page! 💕
Definitely agree on the body shapes point! I thought overall the shape language is strong but that was the main issue i have with it too.
