Fun fact: The Runebear where you find Blaidd is surrounded by Trina’s Lilies while it’s sleeping. Trina’s Lilies are used to craft sleep arrows and pots. If you sneak around and pick the lilies, the minute you pick all of them, the Runebear wakes up and beats your ass.

good fkin grief so that's why he woke up on my first run ages ago, i was sneaking around collecting things when he woke and beat my ass, i thought i'd just taken too long and he'd wake after a set period as punishment
You can cheese the bear by ducking into the cellar corridor; if you do it right, the bear tries attacking but is stuck at the entrance. Use ranged damage on its belly till it croaks.
@@toddz8579I just killed it by using a Longsword +5 and an upgraded wolf spirit pack. I could barely see a thing since we were all squished against each other, but I won 😂

oh god, you’ve reminded me of the Woodfolk ghost in Altus that literally walks you around the entire forest just to get to some random cave I could’ve found faster myself. Also, there were medsages the entire way showing how annoying it was for the other players.

It was pretty slow in this, lol. And the fact that it was just casually strolling through the worst forest ever made while his character was looking at the ghost with twitchy eyes made me laugh, haha. That's what trauma looks like! That's what emotional damage looks like!

First time I "fought" Darriwil with Blaidd, I ended up just watching him kick the crap out of that boss... like: "You sure you need my help buddy?"
Darn, in my experience Blaidd couldn't 1v1 him :(
I've never had Blaidd fully solo him, but all I ever needed to do was throw the occasional hit to whittle down his health a little. Aside from that, Blaidd curbstomps him.
Really? He was trash/died super quick whenever I did it 😂
I did his quest on a new character and then NG+. Funnily enough, Blaidd could actually lose if Darriwil gets the iniative because his attacks will bleed and staggar Blaidd to death. But if you draw agro off Blaidd, Bliadd can easily stunlock Darwill.
Lol must be nice. I stumbled on him before meeting Blaidd and was too stubborn to just walk away so ended up soloing the fucker. Took a few attempts of course 😂

I had never considered taking the "bloodhound" bit of bloodhound knight literally. It has improved my life.
There is some reference that bloodhounds fealty work as animals and might recognize those that they give their allegiange to by smell, which also would explain why darriwil did not recognize doll ranni anymore.
I mean he walks on all fours, has claws and a fang as his weapons and is in the profession of "bloodhound"

I did the Ranni quest without ever meeting him out in the woods. I was super confused when I killed him.

I found out after I met him in the well that this is how your supposed to meet him, though I did learn Kale's snap gesture and hear him howling. I just guess I didn't snap in the right area. The second playthrough I did, but I still never fought the bloodhound knight with him because I had already killed him lol
I found out long after the fact 😂
I actually messed up his quest and made him angry with me before ever talking with Ranni, or doing anything to him or the bear. The snap wouldn't work, and I had to go talk to Pope Dog at the shrine of redemption.

I killed him in siofra because the quest never went anywhere. First all the trouble finding him and then turn me away.
The fact Blaidd did all the work is entirely how my experience went and this encapsulated that moment perfectly.
It's funny to think FromSoft had no idea he would become the poster boy for the game. He is universally beloved.

Ah. So this is the actual progression. My experience was opening a chest, running for my life, reading a sign on the ground, snapping and finding Guts.. I mean Blaidd.. all AFTER having killed the guy in the purple ring. It's amazing how similar the experiences are while still being individual.
The part in the Evergaol couldn't be more accurate lol. Once you summon Blaidd they basically ignore you.

Someone told me to use a tower shield against this boss, this boss staggers every time we block (not even need to parry) which makes this fight an absolute cakewalk.

@@MauiWowieOwie Ranni didn't betray Blaidd, she knew that what she was doing was strictly against the wishes of the Greater Will (who supplied Blaidd to Ranni as her guardian), and she couldn't take the risk of Blaidd turning on her when she's so close to the finish line. Low and behold, Blaidd turns out to be a sleeper agent for the Greater Will, and you have to put him down to stop his rampage.

@@MauiWowieOwie Other way around, chief. Blaidd was doomed to betray Ranni, that’s how the Greater Will made him. He (and Maliketh) is there to protect Ranni (Maliketh, in kind, was meant to protect Marika), but the instant she does something the Greater Will doesn’t like, his mind will snap like a twig and he’ll try to kill her. Iji literally tells you so at one point during Ranni’s quest. And at the end of said quest, you can find Blaidd back at Ranni’s Rise trying his damnedest, and failing, to hold himself together. Because Ranni already got away, he can’t go nuts and kill her like he was supposed to do, so instead, he goes nuts and tries to kill _you,_ and you have no choice but to put him out of his misery.

It took me over 40 tries to defeat Malenia...I'd rather suffer that frustration 100 times over rather than have to deal with the bears. Those things are just straight-up evil. Sinister!
You are much better at this game then me then. Malenia stonewalled me on phase 1 for 30 tries, after which I was shocked two realise she had another phase. I then gave up soloing her after an additional 50 deaths and then managed to kill her after using up more then 20 furled fingers. My thanks to the fat man who showed me that the falling star beast claw weapon thingy could almost perma stun her if you have three people with them.
For sure. One in Liurnia chased me for what I swear was halfway across the lake before it killed me. I had basically no runes on me so I did not return for them.
Roll into them, they are easy but have huge health bars
@@youarecorrectandiamwrong.8646 Rolling into attacks rather than away from them is good advice for pretty much any enemy in any FromSoftware game. There aren't too many where it's better to roll/run away from an attack. Some AoE fire attacks from DS3 bosses require running away, but most of the time rolling into an attack is the way to go.

Blaidd is the first npc i met in the game that I genuinely trusted, and thats saying something because he’s a a seven foot wolf man
I remember getting the emote way back when and then when finally stumbling on the ruins got a bunch of messages saying to emote, but nothing worked. So I left and never started the quest. I'm all the way to Melania now.

Fun theory
Darriwil was Ranni's servant. He only serve Ranni's Empyrean body that he can't accept Ranni's right now as his Master, dunno if it's because different body Odor or he can only serve body not soul.
Maybe Darriwill was Blaidds shadow the pet's pet
That would be plausible, but we find another unnamed Bloodhound Knight sitting next to the grave of his former master. Darriwil should've been with Ranni's body since we can assume that the Bloodhound Knights would maintain a close proximity to their masters. You can also find the spirit ash of another Bloodhound Knight in that same area who never found a master, technically making you it's master. If Darriwil was another servant of Ranni, he would be physically incapable of betraying her, unless...
If you do Seluvis' questline, he tells you to give one of his more powerful potions to Ranni so he can make her one of his puppets. Considering we find a wolf mask that resembles Blaidd at Seluvis' tower and Darriwil is called a traitor by Blaidd, and if we assume that Darriwil was Ranni's servant next to Blaidd then we can assume that Seluvis somehow made Darriwil into was one of his puppets.
Seluvis had likely already thought of betraying Ranni and could've used Darriwil to impersonate Blaidd in order to trick Ranni into drinking one of his potions or straight up kill her. This plan would fail, but from Ranni's perspective, it would look as if Darriwil betrayed her, so she locked him in the Evergaol. But that's just my theory of what happened.
Advanced deforestation technique:
1. Go into forest
2. Be chased by bears
3. Done!

Ranni betrays him, Iji tries to lock him away, he breaks out and goes mad, and you have to put him down.
1:40 That was so me in my first playthrough. When I went to attack Dariwill he would always knock me back somehow with the jumping attack, or cause me to lose poise and hit me while Blaidd did the damage. Took me two times to beat him.
This happens so often in the game: Enemy is distracted so you run up behind them for a hit or two and they spin around to backhand you away.
This one is without a doubt the BEST Elden Ring Cartoon to date. Thanks!
