At the age of 4 I got a dose of heavy trauma that allowed me a call from heaven much like Colten from the movie heaven is real. I didn't see his face but I seen the train that followed and the music that played. I longed to hear once back. At 16 I got rust never sleeps and I knew it to be the same music I heard at 4. Call me crazy if you like but Neil's sound is straight out of Heaven

I was so young, a friend of mine got this song on LP; I went so often to see him to hear this one of my few ALLTIME-SONGS, again - again - again, could not stop to want it. And now I´m 65, still a freak, still absolutely on a flight with this MASTERPIECE of music. it is my soul, my brain, my body, - my laughing, my crying. I´m a hurricane........... - and this version kicks me so, WOW WOW WOW. thank you so much, Neil, love you! hugs from Germany:-)

It was from the back of Patti Smith's 2nd album that I got this André Breton quote that Neil Young's electric guitar playing often reminds me of: “Beauty will be convulsive or will not be at all.”

This version is just off the scale - absolutely phenomenal. I always thought that the Live Rust version was the one, but this? Wow - just wow. Glorious.
My favorite is the Live in Berlin 1982 version.

It’s too bad Neil allowed his tie to keep screwing up his solo! He attempted to put the tie behind his head but the breeze /wind kept blowing back on the bridge of his guitar.

That guitar sound of Neil’s I could listen to all day, such a great tone and although he doesn’t play lightning fast, his solos sound brilliant all the way through and you don’t want them to end
Always enjoys playing with Crazy Horse and damn they are awesome to listen to
firs time i heard this song i was high as a kite in my friends house in the winter circa 79... it was certainly a foggy but gorgeous trip! I was blown away....and returned never the same :)

YES. OMG. When he makes OLE BLACK SQUEAL. That's my favorite version. Also my first Neil turn on song. It remains my favorite to this day. From 13-61 years. I have blown up speakers. Almost knocked myself out (eyes closed feeling it) banging when 1 of my speakers got in my way. LOL. Right in the temple. Gave me a black eye. And I didn't miss a lick.

Haunting and Timeless......
Yes kinda haunting, song I will never forget !
I love how no two live recordings of this song sound alike. The original Live Rust recording has so much energy in it. The 1986 San Francisco version has the cool theme of that tour, and has a great garage rock sound, full of back-to-roots thrashing on guitars and just trying to shred it out. Oc then there's the unplugged version that I don't have to say anything about. And there's the myriad of other recordings, and they all vary.
And then there's this one. Toned down, subdued, slowed down slightly. More soulful and lots of emphasis on the lyrics and the feeling of a relationship that failed due to drugs and hard drinking, more than the usual "let's just rock the house down!"

I saw Neil at the Wiltern theater , La , do all his great songs of lesser known album cuts acoustic , even last trip to Tulsa from the 1st solo LP . Rosanna Arquette was so inspired she promoted a Joni Mitchell show there much in the same way

I don't recall ever hearing this on the radio back in the day, but I may not have been paying strict attention. Anyway, the first time I did hear it was a live version on an album I'd bought and that's pretty much the only way I ever listened to it until I recently listened to the studio version. I have to say, every live version I've heard is better than that one. I can't say that about every song from every artist Ive seen, but I can here. This became one of my favorites the very first time I heard it.

Neil has been one of my most favorite artists since the beginning. This is one of my most favorite songs of his!! Love the raw emotion, and electric guitar riffs on the song. When I heard he was going to perform this song on MTV Unplugged I thought how could you play this song unplugged?! Then Neil being the musical genius that he is blew my mind.

You know, I am in love with Neil and the Crazy Horse, since the 70’s I am a blessed listener. I play them everyday, I used to play music, for 25 yrs. Neil is my jam. Everything he writes is so Right On, I agree with his mind set and I think he is the King. Of course we played his tunes in our band , so much fun, and greatness. Important album set altogether the tempo and song selections were in place before the the first Gulf War. Then Neil hit the stage in Mpls, removing the fun adventure and the tour got immediately darker than planned do to the war. So, Weld really contrasted this and we're fortunate to have both versions, plus songs not played on the tour showing up with this new release. Yes another awesome Hurricane version.
