Although, I must admit that I do sometimes like how with some bands their live versions of certain song are different than off the album; thus, giving them not just a rebirth, but acts as ah extension of those songs, if that makes any sense. It's as if you have different version of the song to select from depending on which one best suits the mood you're in, or the moment itself
Led Zeppelin did this especially, and while some criticize them for it, it's what makes me like them even more. What you got live wasn't what you got on record or yeard over the radio. The lack of multiple guitar overdubs that Jimmy Page was notorious for on the records... come live, and those overdubs are no longer to be. You now have a different song, which for me is why if want to listen to Led Zeppelin, I listen to soundboard tapes from 1977 and 1980 almost exclusively

And THAT is the real deal mountain funk "grunge" way... for Neil holds the title of being the "Godfather of Grunge"... and then you see all these younger people claiming to be "grunge" with their hot topics attire... and they couldn't be any further off the mark. Neil Young is what grunge is, and you described the key points perfectly

Me and Melissa Eaton ( a beautiful 17 yr old girl from Freeport Texas) drove up to the Summit in Houston to see Neil and Crazy Horse on Nov 11, 1976 the day before Neil’s birthday. I was a 21 yr old shrimper. I remember them jamming on Cinnamon Girl for about 15 minutes- amazingly intense rock n roll! Between Melissa knocking me out with those American thighs and enjoying that music, it doesn’t get any better!!

If memory serves and true to some degree at least , Young said sometime in the the late 1970s to the late 1980s(sorry can't remember exactly when ) that Rock is for younger artists and bands and that he was passed it and would concentrate on easier going material (some sort of easy country western and folk music) . Well I am so glad he came back to be a great rocker again .

Amazingly, this topped out at a paltry #55 on Billboard and no other rock song delivers more power, energy and raw vibes. Watch the babes, and you can see how they picked up on what was going down. I remember he wore a tie at concerts early on (really), but clothes don't make the man in rock - it's all about the ultimate beat and sound. The ladies in the audience make this my all-time favorite video, just nosing out Tina Turner's "Hold On, I'm Coming." Let's keep rocking!!!
