Dude, if it weren't for your channel IDK where I would be. I'm 24, my daily driver was stolen by a stalker during COVID. My Jeep had been a mystery mobile for a couple of years. With my last 400$, the Haynes manual, your videos, and my dad's tools I fixed my Jeep by myself and immediately drove 800 miles to CA by myself. All I had was a set of wrenches and a spare tire.
THANK YOU
Thanks for taking the time to learn and make mistakes to show us the best way to do these ujoints . Since having my zj ive followed all your diy videos to save me money and learn knowledge i can pass down to future generations ✊🏽
This is legit one of the most quality tech videos I've seen. Props to you and keep it up sir :)
Mason Chen you are apreciated!
Older, USEFUL, BG Mechanic tutorial videos are extremely informative and precise. Thank you for your wisdom sir. Criminally underviewed...
Bro, I've watched about three of your videos in a row and they are without a doubt the best car repair videos I've ever watched. Everything was super descriptive and straight to the point.
Keep up the good work man, we appreciate it a lot.
Thanks, man. This helped a lot.
For my 1995 ZJ (5.2L V8), it had the double cardan even though the centering yokes (Spicer 211355X (OEM) and Moog 607 (aftermarket)) are listed as "Does not fit".
On install of the u-joint with the Spicer 211355X Centering Socket Yoke on the cardan head, I had a hard time compressing the yoke down enough due to the spring, and it gave me weird angles on the u-joint caps. I used the extra grease, but must have had two needle bearings fallen over; the u-joint cap cracked. I ended up buying another u-joint and installed it on the cardan head first. Then, fit the cardan head onto the drive shaft for install. I still needed to compress the cardan head a little to compress the spring, but it seemed to fit easier. No weird angles like the yoke produced.
I used items:
u-joint: Moog 269
centering yoke: Spicer 211355X
rubber seal for yoke: Spicer 2-86-418 Seal (original was cracked)
I just did my first front and rear u joint and yoke replacement thanks to you. Great video. Thank you for the help
I have had to get a shop to repair this for me as I had been told this was something I could not do. $289.00 and it took 3 days to get my shaft back!!! Those lying bastards!! Never again. thank you so much!!! ZJ love 4 life!!!
thank you for taking the time to make your videos. I learned how to do it, your camera angles were all great. you talked through the process. kept it Real. no extra stuff like a lot of other channels. keep em coming. please
Nicely done video - everything's clear but no excessive length. Some people would take 45 minutes to explain the same thing you do in 10!
Man this really helped me a lot. If you can do this in the field out of the back of your rig than I can do this too. I will spend the money on a ball joint press instead of a local machine shop and do it myself. This gave me the confidence to do it. Thanks
sir, you can get the kits at auto zone, I believe its a small rental fee.
@@alfredoverno9674 Thank you, it’s actually free to rent from autozone. You basically are buying it and returning it when you are done.
I ended up buying a 20 ton press instead to do the job.
That rubber piece in the center that the Centering Yoke goes into is called a "Slinger".
I think so
Bro! This is a great video. I have to do this to my Jeep Grand Cherokee. This will be a big help. Thanks.
When doing U joints if the joint becomes tight and don't move easily in all directions you can tap the yoke and it will become free without taking them apart. As for the H joint I use whiteout to mark everything before its taking apart. That view makes it easy compared to the on the ground method that is done in most cases because we broke down away from our shops.
I absolutely love that hitch mounted vise! Great video - thank you.
I appreciate the detail and clarity you delivered!
Good instructional commentary. Nice video.
good video I have the same vice, I've used it once for JP purposes, it was great to see someone else using one in a video showing it. Keep up the good work.
Thanks. Feel free to check out my Vise review here

Also pay attention to where the grease fitting are angled and try to put the new ones on the same way.
Great informative video... Thanks Dave...
cool video, usually rust on snap rings has fused them to u joint
I have a 95 zj v8 4x4 that sat up for over a year. I bought this for 500$ I'm now going through it and getting it back road worthy. So far I've had to replace fuel pump, thermostat, change out t case fluid. Oil change with Lucas oil stabilizer. I'm pretty sure enough oil isn't getting to top of block heads. Pick up tube screen is probably clogged. I have horrible vibrations when accelerating almost like I have mud tires on but I run standard tires. I'm not sure if it's the drive shafts or not.
Awesome! Simply put! Thanks man, love the vise set up!
Awesome video, I think I’m ready to do this job. Thanks.
Very good video. Heading home this afternoon to do mine on the 05 Wrangler. Hope it goes as smooth. Thanks for your help.
My XJ has noise coming from the rear when I decelerate. I'm thinking the u joints are shot. After watching this video I'm sure I can handle it. Thanks!
Great video, thanks, it really helped. Much appreciation.
Where'd you find that Vice do you have a part number how much did it cost you

i hear a sound when accelerating hard ... a knocking sound, like a chain missing a tooth on a pulley.
Is this also because of the U-joint?
youre a legend thank you
What would be the torque specs for the drive shaft?
Great video and narration, good info.
The intro song 👍🏾
Great video, really like your pace and tips along the way. I was all hyped up to do this, but my U-joints don't come out. WHO TF puts non-removable U-joints on a driveshaft?! JEEP does, on the 06' Cherokee Laredo. A $100 job now costs over $1,000. NASTY.
Do you, or anyone else on here have a video showing how to replace the rzeppa joint? I think mine shit the bed again.. I had one I found 8 months ago, but I can't find it. Thank you.
Hola sigo todo tus videos gracias por tu experiencia
So I'm lifting my 96zj 5.2 full time 4wd 3.5 in should I buy a cardan drive shaft? Love your vids any help u could give is appreciated
how did you know you had the yoke reversed when you originally installed it then later corrected it... my 2nd ujoint install appears to be way to tight a fit and is difficult to turn freely
Can you still drive it with the CV shaft out of it? Mines shot and I don't have money for it until next pay day
Much appreciate the info, thank you Sr.
Good demo -- thanks!
Where you get that vise? That's a great investment
Nice Job 💪😎
Well done video thanks a ton!
I need that little rubber boot peice, anyone have a part number?
Question fellas
I have same noise on my jeep 2008 grand cherokee I jack my car on air i notice alot of play on the front and rear drive shaft and transfer case full of grease not oil but grease i was gonna drain the fluid and fill it back up.
Would it be good idea to repair the u joints on both drive shafts front and rear) and do they supposse to wiggle. While you grabbing them hard. Or they may be worn out already.
Thanks so much
What happens in the rust belt?
Any way you could drop the part number?
Hola que codigo es el yugo ?
I always enjoy learning from your videos, very informative and concise. Where did you get that vice that sticks in the hitch? I've got a 96 ZJ and that would come in handy!
I ordered mine through Ebay fo $140. Check out my review video, I left a link in the description
ruclips.net/video/pvywZvqZzAA/видео.html
Dope vid bro !
Are all the u joints the same or are different ones needed on the different shafts
All of them are the same
You bro. Can you do a video on replacing the fuel pressure regulator on the 98 zj. The fuel pressure regulator on the 93-96 zj with the 4.0 , is on the fuel rail and I'm not sure on the 97 but my 98 has the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel pump itself. What's you take on this bro.
The regulator is built into the actual pnmp on the 97 and 98
Can you do a lil coverage on this subject bro. Even if it a pump assembly not in a vehicle. I purchased a replacement fuel pressure regulator for my 98 zj because I'm experiencing flow back and have to cycle they key several times to prime before my jeep starts. I do know that the regulator can be replaced, and was wondering what could cause this issue. There are no videos of this on RUclips. If you can shed some light on the subject, it would be greatly appreciated.
@@bobyblaccc30 I dont plan on making a video on the topic but heres a link to my '97 fuel pump replacement video.
ruclips.net/video/-qXWKn0lyUw/видео.html
4:40 im literally pointing at the pressure regulator Thats built onto the pump
Yeah I have watched that video and I guess I will have to make a video on my channel when I pull off the gas take to repair my fuel pressure regulator. Thank you brotha and loving your videos.
Damm how did u make that vice grip to your car lmao

I have a 1997 jeep grand Cherokee limited with 5.2V8 and 249 transfer case meaning 4wheel high all time. What could be a popping noise when driving over terrain? I've already replaced my steering damper with new one to eliminate death wobble. But wondering if it could be my factory sway bar end link bushings making the noise I hear when driving in the yard and down gravel drive way
Phillip Wallace steering stabilizers dont cause death wobble. It might be your end links but its best to get under there and take a look
Have you checked your upper shock absorber mounts under the hood? Sometimes the rubber bushings wear out. The other things it could be are your control arm bushings, sway bar bushings or links, also check the track bar, and ball joints.
👍👍
yes i was asking is that normal in 2wd the driveshaft moves
Jose Mar Im pretty sure its not supposed to be engaged in 2wd unless its fwd
Question. Might be a dumb one. Is yours a Quadra trac?
Yes
Ok cool! I’ve got a 97 zj and advanced had two different part numbers which didn’t make sense to me. Thank you sir for this video and the fast reply!
@@commanderstud2417 No problem, if your not in a hurry you can order the good quality Moog u-joints (part #269) u-joints from Ebay for just over $13 shipped which is the Cheapest price I could find them for www.ebay.com/p/1833288280

Jose Mar yes it should spin freely in 2wd
Yo bro you do good work👊🏾. How much would you charge for that job? Not including the parts.
BARRICADE GARAGE that’s not bad bro I wish you were in New Jersey
